  • So true :) I LOVE mine but I think it boils down to personal preference. I feel it cooks quicker than my convection and I also find it easier to use the air fryer than my oven. I have made chips, fries (both hand cut and store bought) and both turned out fantastic. My next adventure may be homemade bagels.
  • You beat me to it :) I have a running coach and he's very clear on getting protein after a long run. I followed his advice and ran my best marathon as well as qualified for Boston so I'll be sticking with it!
  • In the end it doesn't really matter what term you use. I used lifestyle change and have kept more than 100 pounds off for several years so for me, that is exactly what it was. For someone else it may be different. I'm not sure it really matters what term you use as long as you live a healthy and happy life!
  • So after nearly 10 years of keeping 100 pounds off I guess I can say I made a lifestyle change :) I said that all along because I hate the word diet. I never dieted, I changed how I lived and how I looked at food. Once that weight loss slows down things get much more real. I always say losing weight was the easy part,…
  • I was on my bike the other day and I had a truck behind me give me a hard time. I was in the right lane waiting for the light to go green. When I pulled up there was no one behind me and then he pulled up. I'm on a road bike with all my gear so it's obvious that I belong on the road. He honked at me and I ignored it. He…
  • I've been part of the study for years! I hope that my story will help others in the future :)
  • I started about 12 years ago, lost some weight, stayed put for awhile and then lost some more. I would say it's been 7-8 years that I've been maintaining a 100 pounds loss. To say my life changed is an understatement. Two weeks ago I ran my fifth marathon but this time I set a goal to qualify for Boston and I did :D In a…
  • The BL study was interesting. As someone who's lost 100 pounds and kept it off for several years I know it can be done. Obviously how they lost the weight completely differed to how I lost the weight. I took it slow, over about 2-3 years and they lost in a matter of months. I slowly incorporated exercise and they started…
  • 5"2, 46, size 2 and have been maintaining 130 pounds for a few years now after 100 plus pound loss. My maintenance calories are around 2100 and I work out 7 days a week. I'm training for another marathon so I'm running, cross training and weights. Hope this helps :)
  • This a million times! I lost weight by reducing calories and then I lost more weight by increasing calories. I know how backward it sounds and I fully understand your fear but at least give it a try :)
  • I've been at this maintenance thing for several years now :) So at one point I was down to 125 pounds but that was too thin. Once I increased my calories I did add some weight but I would say the majority of that was muscle because I started to weight train 2-3 times a week. Now I average around 130-131 and I'm happy with…
  • You do not have an eating disorder and anyone that suggests you do is not too smart  I've kept all my weight off for 10 years or so and I've continued to count calories. It's easy, it's quick and it keeps me accountable. I give myself one day a week where I can eat what I want and I don't count calories to give…
  • I think you're probably right!
  • It could be other things but it seems like it's the running that is the culprit. I sleep like a baby after I run, even if I go for a run later at night. After a marathon I'm pretty much comatose :D I would say keep working towards your goal and see how it goes. It could be after your body is accustomed to running things…
  • Congrats! I went from 230 pounds and 42% body fat to 128 pounds and 19% body fat. It's an awesome feeling :) You look fabulous!
  • We were in Ireland in March. What an extraordinarily beautiful country! I can't wait to go back :) Welcome!
  • I guess my biggest problem with this is that you've had months to do this but only now are buckling down to try and get in shape. Low carb isn't easy but I know people who do it and have had success. With that said, cut my carbs and I'm likely to kill someone :) Eat at a deficit, move more and the weight will fall. Take it…
  • 5'2 128 pounds 19% body fat I eat about 2000-2200 calories per day Cardio 6-7 days a week Weights twice weekly plus once a week I go to a HIIT class At that weight I'm a size 0-2 depending on the clothing maker. I'm also very muscular so maybe my body fat is a bit lower but I'm happy where I'm at :)
  • I run in the morning before the sun comes up. This morning it was already 70 degrees and 90% humidity at 5am. I run in a light tank top and shorts or just shorts and a sports bra like this morning. I try to not push myself too hard, slow down when needed and try not to completely over exert myself while out there. I was…
  • I eat whatever my heart desires :) I still run and workout, that part stays the same, but I don't count calories or really worry about what I'm eating. We were in Rome in March so I could run their marathon and I ate all kinds of new foods with no clue what the calorie count was. After Rome we flew to Dublin for the last…
  • I remember my first pair of size 0 pants...it was a great moment because I came down from a size 22 :) Congrats on getting in shape but more to the point taking your life back!
  • I saw someone awhile ago posting about wanting a thigh gap. My first thought was WTF!?! :)
  • Amen! I've kept this weight off for several years but as I was losing I made a ton of mistakes. Everything I knew about dieting, or I thought I knew, was not always the case! For one the word diet, which I hate, is misleading because I did not diet, I changed how I live my life. Thank you for posting! It's a great reminder…
  • Those spring rolls look WAY better than the donut and I like donuts :) The Thai place next to work has awesome spring rolls that I get often. I should just make them myself!
  • Yes! Over the past 10 or so years I've lost and kept off 100 plus pounds. I didn't do this with diets, pills, lotions or any other wacky thing you see on TV :) I did this by changing my life, learning how to eat properly and eventually starting to exercise. The exercise was not necessary to lose weight but it was necessary…
  • You've got this! I lost 100 myself and have kept it off for years so I know it can be done :) I echo much of what's already been said here. Log your food, weigh your food and start getting some daily exercise. It doesn't need to be anything major, just a simple walk will do. I started with walking because it was simple, I…
  • Run, bike, the Arc at the gym and lift weights...I think that covers it :)
  • I think the OP just wants to continue to beat a dead horse! You are right. As someone who's kept 100 pounds off for several years I know first hand you can make this simple or you can make it hard. I run or cross train most days of the week and I keep my calories within my maintenance range. I don't think you need to…
