Nevermind. Decided it wasn't worth it.

Hahaha - yes, that was me after my first-ever half marathon! I never thought I would want to run one, let alone actually do it!

It's totally legit that it worked for you - great! I'm not willing to sacrifice food I like as I lose weight, either - I thoroughly enjoy indulgences. I've been at this over 2 years because of a certain unwillingness to give up foods that I enjoy. I do not "diet" as I agree with you on how it can feel like a punishment.…

My sense from the original poster was not that she was (a) suffering or (b) starving, but dealing with an emotional/psychological craving for food. Upping your calories or finding that right budget does nothing to help with that type of craving.

I love BSN's Syntha-6. Comes in good flavors and tastes good.

It sounds like you'll be nice and active, so just watch portion sizes and limit the indulgences. It's hard to lose the crutch that is MFP, though - I was in India for a few weeks a few years ago and had intermittent WIFI but that was it. PLUS I had no idea what was in the majority of the food I was eating. I watched…

SO TRUE about smaller sizes - it's amazing how quickly a 10 pound drop can mean a whole different dress size. Also - have no idea how this post could be offensive!

I can't see your diary to take a look at what you're eating. If you friend me, I'll take a look and see if I can help! I plateaud in that range for a little while, too.

When I started in 2011, I was about 285 pounds and a size 22W/24W depending on how things fit. I don't remember how long it took me to drop a size, though, because I was in grad school and didn't have the money immediately to go buy more. I do know that within 6 months I'd dropped to a regular 18 in pants because my mother…

^^^ I love your use name!

I try to do what you did - call on a support system to help me remember WHY I don't actually want the stress food. At the end of the day, there are foods I love that I will use to binge. So I buy a small quantity and give it to a coworker who is also losing weight to dole out in appropriate portions (she literally hides…

I think the "if you don't like it, don't eat it" argument is great for people who can resist on a regular basis, but for many of us here, that isn't always possible. I can't have certain foods in the house because they're trigger foods and I will binge on them. And to have a parent laughingly bring something like that into…

I'm 30, almost 31, and would love some 30-something MFP buddies!

SUCH inspiration!!!!

Ugh, seriously! I feel the same way! I get ravenous. I try to have spaghetti squash and lots of salad on hand to help me overcome my complete and utter voraciousness without totally damaging my weight loss. Also, awesome photo is awesome.

Welcome back! We're already friends, but wanted to let you know I'm here to support you. The diagnosis of early fatty liver disease is what prompted me to change my life, so I know how scary/motivating hearing that can be. I KNOW you can do it because I did it. And I failed at everything I tried until I just put my…

I totally understand what you went through - I had mine out 2 years ago and it was so painful! 1. It took me about 2 weeks to fully recover. I went to work part-time in the second week, but was VERY uncomfortable from the air that was still inside post-op. 2. I had to significantly cut back on fatty foods for about a year…

I think a lot of people feel uncomfortable commenting on someone's weight. That's what I experienced anyway - a lot of my acquaintances didn't feel like they could say something because they didn't want to offend me. On the other hand, my family seems especially determined to play the "oh, you'll get TOO thin if you lose…

I really like BSN's Syntha-6 for my protein powder. I've had the chocolate milkshake, mochaccino, and vanilla, and they've all been really good.

EPIC. Love it!

I'm definitely experiencing some of that, too. I've lost nearly 100 pounds, have gone from a 22/24 to a 10/12 and still see a fat person in the mirror. I was complaining about my butt to a friend recently, and she got a little snappy because mine is now smaller than hers. But I can't *see* that so it makes it really hard.…

I started C25K at 285, and I'm now under 200, so I would say no. But I would also say to combine with with some strength training and that'll help, too.

For me there was definite satisfaction in seeing my ticker move more and more to the right side of the screen...seeing the tickers of people who have lost more than me continues to inspire and motivate me! If they can do it, so can it!

Lululemon makes one called the TaTa Tamer which is pricey but EXCELLENT.

Dixie and I are still getting to know each other...she doesn't act towards me like she would act around her foster mother, but I hope we'll get there. She's really quite sweet, if a stubborn handful at times. I'm hoping we get settled in with some love and affection soon!
-
That's an interesting idea...I didn't even think of bumping up my overall activity level. Thanks for all the feedback! So many MFP dog owners. I hope it gets easier - our first few days have been stressful!

Nordstrom, Nordstrom Rack (love the clearance section), and Anthropologie are my 3 favorite stores. And now that I can fit into 99% of the clothes at these stores, it's hard on my wallet!!!!! Gap, Old Navy, Ann Taylor, and J Crew are where I pick up my basics.

I'm still here. Just needed a break to get myself together again - too much focus on the fact that my scale isn't moving even though I've lost a dress size. Trying to get my priorities in order ahead of the holiday season. Ran my 10K on Saturday and beat my internal time goal - ran it in just over 72 minutes! I got a cute…

I'm about 3 pages behind, but wanted to pop in and say hello! Was out of town for work last week, then was just feeling kind of icky and depressed. Finally snapped myself out of it yesterday by making myself go running. I hit the pavement and practically FLEW through town, doing 2+ miles at a pace under 11 minutes, which I…
