  • I've seen a lot of people refer to the CamelBak water bottle. I went to their site (http://www.camelbak.com/) and looked at their water bottles. I think I'm missing something: what makes these water bottles better than others? It looks like most of them use a straw, but is there something else I'm missing? Or is there a…
  • Great advice!!
  • I'm sure the HRM will work perfectly for what you are doing! I've not heard any reviews about the Bowflex HRM. Let us know how it works!
  • I'm glad you did do this ... it was a good laugh!
  • For me, my motivation is not about the weight but rather the health. When I eat right (mostly) and exercise, I feel good knowing my body is getting stronger, I'm healthier, and can enjoy a more active life. Instead of looking at this as a diet, it's better to look at this as a life style change ... and believe it and be…
  • Wow, lots of different ideas ... love it! Something I neglected to point out is that I do consume 32 ounces of water while I work out. Over the last few days, now that I have those two 24 oz flasks, I'm getting 80 oz minimum!
  • Lots of great ideas! I'm an ex-soda junky, so the switch has not been easy!
  • Love it!!
  • @CoryIda - Love the tat and love the poses!
  • I use my HRM to determine my calories burned. There are a couple reasons why. First, I had heard that the BFM may not accurately calculate your exercise calories. Second, my HRM has immediate information I can use; no uploading of data followed by data analysis. Third, I want to be able to go back and compare what my HRM…
  • I lot of folks ware a heart rate monitor (HRM). I think there are a lot who don't as well. Having one takes the guess work out of how many calories you burned ... mostly. It will always be a guess, but something that is monitoring your body is better than something that is guessing at your effort. Something to note: A…
  • I've seen 2 schools of thought posted. The first deals with isolating specific muscles, like Taylerr88 suggest. The second deals with overall muscle growth for your entire body, which will also hit arms and shoulders, but also imrove EVERYTHING else, as Rae6503 suggested.
  • I don't use the calorie count from my BodyMedia Fit for my workout. I use a heart rate monitor. I've only had the BMR for a week now, and I'm still analyzing the data it is giving me. But I'm pretty sure that the 45 minutes I spend on the stationary pike (moderate resistance and speed) burned more than the 300 calories the…
  • Ah, so your concern is more about not seeing muscle gains if you do cardio? If that's an accurate statement of your concern, then keep your pace down and your heart rate lower. You'll have a higher percentage of fat burn, though your overall calorie burn won't be as high ... should be a none issue if I understand your…
  • Cardio is not a requirement for success. Strength training and a good diet can easily get you to look the way you want to look. But cardio is awesome for your overall health.
  • LOL, she said jelly!
  • Yep, I love the stuff!
  • I'm currently at 61 grams of fiber and still have about 700 calories left for today. My food diary is wide open if you want to look. Be nice re the sodium!
  • You are awesome! How can I not send a friend request based on this reply? LOL!
  • These three posts ... the best laugh I've had all day! THANK YOU! Potty humor ... it's the best thing EVER!
  • Hey, me too! Only that's what I tell my wife! Seriously, now it's once a day like clockwork! Would like to change that clock though, move it from 10AM to 5AM so I can then weight myself AFTER! When I ate what I wanted and as much as I wanted, 2-3 time a day.
  • Wanna make something of it? LOL, just kidding! :flowerforyou:
  • I know someone with better knowledge is going to answer this, but here's my best attempt: When MFP tries to calculate your BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate), it uses your fitness level as a multiplier. I think the range is from 1.2 - 2 where 1.2 would be sedentary and 2 would be Highly active. The problem is in the description of…
  • A heart rate monitor will OVER ESTIMATE your calories when you are lifting. There are too many factors involved. First, your intensity. When you lift heavy weight, your body will respond QUICKLY to that, but it won't recover nearly as quickly. So in a set you might burn 20 calories, where your HRM may record 30. And it…
  • I've got a Polar FT7 HRM and the BodyMedia Fit (just like a bodybugg, and made by the same people). I don't trust the calories calculated by the BodyMedia Fit during my workouts. I do circuit training and intervals. Today I did 48 minutes of circuits and my HRM came back and said I burned 602 calories. The BMF said I…
  • From the investigation I've done, I think your hands should be slightly below your shoulders. I'd do a google search and look for a couple of videos showing proper push form. Don't settle for watching only one ... make sure you watch at least a couple to make sure you don't hit the one that has bad advice!
  • This! Or, grab some dumbbells to hold onto while your are going them.
  • I took it as an observation.
  • Something I've noticed is that the late PM people DO NOT KNOW HOW TO RE-RACK THEIR WEIGHTS!!!! There are days when I get in at 4AM and the place is a mess! Often times it's the AM people who put the place back in order. I've done it, and I've seen others do it. By the time I leave in the AM, the place looks good. BTW, the…
  • I use to workout in the evening. Did that for a few years until I changed jobs and got off work later. So, I started going in the morning. It wasn't an easy transition, was very tired in the beginning. Once I got use to it, I really liked it! My reasons: 1) It is less crowded, and most of the people there are there because…
