  • i'm a (almost) 29 y/o mom of 4.
  • i knew i was losing weight when: -i am cold all the freaking time -we have wooden chairs in the dining room with no padding on them, and it hurts to sit in them too long. -i can't run to keep up with my kids on bikes on a walk because i can't run/push the stroller/hang on to my jeans so they don't fall down all at the same…
  • i didn't read every comment so i may repeat but..... i am a mom of 4 kids between the ages of 1 and 6. we live in a very rural area. and i do not go to the gym, for the simple reason that i do not have 3 hours in any day i want to routinely devote to going to the gym (1 hour driving there/dropping kids off at my moms, 1…
  • i have 4 kids (ages 6, 5, 3, 1) and right now my weight loss is pretty much all diet. i go out outside on the days i can (and yesterday was a no snow suite day, we took 2 walks!). i would love a elliptical so i can use it when i watch a tv show at night after the kids go to bed (cause i do like to watch 30-60 mins of tv…
  • ^this. if you only weight your self once a week you may not notice it, but my weight loss is affected by where in my cycle i am. it really freaked me out the first month, like why was i not losing but even gaining a tad. i now know i have 2 really good weeks of losing, followed by an ok week, followed by a week not even…
  • fats are not necessarily bad for you. since i have a flock of laying hens and eat eggs every day (2-5 a day, depending on if i have them for breakfast-and i usually do) I feel compelled to point out the below: "Eggs are loaded with high-quality proteins, vitamins, minerals, good fats and various trace nutrients. A large…
  • hi! mom of 4. ages 6, 5, 3, 1. i have lost 17 pounds so far, and have about 23 more that i want to lose.
  • all i have is a set of resistance cords and a set of resistance bands. if i do cardio in the house it's a video on you tube. i would like to get a elliptical but with warming weather coming i can just go outside soon.
  • i was tired of always feeling like the large person in a group. for some reason my 5 feet 5 inches already makes me taller than a lot of women i am around and being heavy does not help me not feel like a giant. plus i want to be able to buy cute cloths again and actually wear them cause i like i how i look in them. so far…
  • when i decided to really get serious this year, i stopped drinking everything but almond milk and water. I love love love chocolate milk but have not had a taste in almost two months. this month I have had some diet soda, just so i don't feel deprived. i would much rather eat my calories than drink them. i do not drink…
  • i keep a large bag of almonds and walnuts on hand and if i need to boost my cals i can eat an once or two (i weigh them). also cheese is high cal. you can add it to a dish.
  • this is also one of my goals! we have a beach vacation scheduled in april and i would love to not be self conscious about it.
  • just completed my first mini goal: and lost 10 pounds my next mini goal: is lose another 10 pounds which will officially put my bmi in healthy instead of overweight
  • i went low carb a few weeks ago when exercise and normal food was getting me no where. i did eat carbs a 2 days in a row last week (while still staying in my cals) and felt horrible afterwards.
  • i usually have a menu plan for the week. but i log my stuff the night before or the morning of. that way i know what cals i have and if i need to add a snack or take something out to hit my calories. now i'm getting it down so i have the main meals i prefer and i know the cals for each one.
  • well not pregnant now, but i have had 4 babies. i gained more weight than recommended with 3 of them. the one i did not, i only gained 25 pounds. 3 of the pregnancies i had all day morning sickness for all 9 months and could only eat very limited foods or it'd come back up (which it did a lot any way). my second pregnancy…
  • i have found that having my "biggest" meal for breakfast works great. and dinner is my lightest meal. calorie wise lunch and breakfast are about the same, but i splurge at lunch and some of those calories are for salad dressing and cheese on my salad. breakfast is very hardy, eggs and bacon type thing (yes bacon, it fits…
  • my mom has hypothyroidism, and she can lose weight, she has to worker harder than most people. but it is very important to work with an endocrinologist because as you lose weight your meds will have to be adjusted. if they are not you can/will plateau and it will throw every thing out of wack.
  • family of 6. i preserve a lot from the garden/local orchards and we have a flock of laying hens. With this i can easily spend $100 or less a week and be quite comfortable. i just buy whats on sale and/or have a coupon for and plan around that. but we eat A LOT of eggs and apple sauce/home canned peaches and green beans and…
  • thin crust recipe i use: 1/2 cup warm water 1/2 tsp of active dry yeast combine, let sit 10 mins somewhere warm add: 1 tbs olive oil 1/2 cup white flour 1/2 cup wheat flour (could prob do all wheat, but would have to increase the water some, i think) stir, then kneed on a floured surface for 3 mins let set for 10 mins in a…
  • i split workout out into 15 min sessions. the winter is harder cause we are all inside. but i just push everything to the edges of the family room to do a video workout. i usually do 15 mins during nap and/or after bed time. i pick up here and there threw out the day with the majority of the heavy stuff once they are in…
  • have a plan. we are taking a family vacation in a few months. and i already have the menu planned. of course i have a couple of eat out meals planned, and for them i will refrain from over indulging. besides the car ride there and back there should be plenty of walking and swimming so i will not feel bad when we do order…
  • shadow boxing. i have only done it hear and there but it can be all upper body/arms and if vigorous it will get your heart pumping.
  • finally just made myself make yogurt this morning, i have been meaning to make it for over a month. it's not hard, just the time i have to stand right there to make sure it doesn't burn when i always have 100 other things that need my attention.
  • SAHM of 4 (3 boys and 1 girl), ages 1 year - 6years. By the time i get the kids all in bed at night I do not want to do anything but some me time. But i keept chanting to myself, just 15 mins, just 15 mins. so i watch a half hour show while doing my 15 mins of workout (i may have the youtube workout i am doing memorized,…
  • starting back up and looking for some friends!
  • mustard. it always has been and besides BBQ (only when the chicken is to juicy and i want to cover it up) it's the only condiment i use.
  • some tips i have learned (as i use the same budget for healthy eating that i did before): -go frozen for veggies. or farmers markets. if you can do a farmers market buy as much as you can store and process and freeze it. a food sealer works good for this. we bought another freezer for this purpose alone. i just cook or…
  • my family has a 1.5 y/o dalmatian. she loves to run. my hubby takes her on 3 mile runs that she does easily. i more run/walk or just walk with her. she does like to sniff but you just need to train your dog to heal or at least that there is a difference when you are running and she can not stop. she'd go out every day for…
  • i have been adding them to my salads. my 2 y/o eats them as they are. and my hubby doesn't know it but egg salad is for dinner! we have almost 3 dozen. with a 2 y/o and a 3.5 y/o plus hubby and i wanted to color some eggs ourselves we had to do a bunch so we all got to color a fair amount of eggs. lol.
