I think that we need to support each other and if logging opinions differ then so be it. People need different challenges and targets to keep them going. I think as long as people are losing the pounds then their regime is OK. If they are moaning about not losing weight then people could help by commenting about the amount…

and what type of decline in metabolic rate can you expect at "starvation mode's" peak? and how long does it take on average to hit this peak? [/quote] Beyond my scientific knowledge, but instinct tells me that it kicks in at different times and rates for everybody. I can assume this by the fact that 2 people can eat the…

Absolutely brilliant well done and keep up the good work.

Starvation mode is a state in which the body is responding to prolonged periods of low caloric intake levels. During short periods of caloric abstinence, the human body will burn primarily body fat stores. After prolonged periods of starvation the body has depleted its body fat and begins to burn lean tissue and muscle as…

I think you need to do whatever works for you. It is very easy to underestimate the amount of food you are consuming, which is why most of us put on the pounds. If you continue to measure your food you'll soon get used to seeing the size of the portions and will gradually not need to measure, as you will know. Good luck,…

I've thought a lot about this and was wondering how many calories I've burned doing this?...(thinking) Joking, I vote over thinking too.
-
On the same vein, doesn't a larger guy of 18 stone burn more calories than a guy 12 stones doing the same task or exercise? Surely the 12stone guy would burn more calories with a 6 stone back pack on, that brought his weight up to 18 stones?

Try making your chilli with Quorn (or whatever vegetarian mince substitute you get in your part of the world). Same high protein but a fraction of the fat. Of course fat = 9 cals per gram whereas carb/protein is only 4 cals per gram, so eliminating a lot of the fat eliminates a LOT of the calories. I do a Quorn bolognese…

I'm 5'10 and my goal is 210lb, I know this is a couple of stones over my so called 'ideal weight', but at 12.st 7 I was far too thin. When I get to 210 I'll reassess and take it from there.

You'll do for me, cheers

Cheers Bud, feel better already....lol

It's important to track everything, I didn't realise until I made a chilli just how much actually goes into things, by the time you add the minced beef, onions, sauce, beans etc. it really makes a difference. I'm just getting started so inputting the food is time consuming, but the longer I use it and build up my data base…
