I've been going to the gym regularly for about 6 years now. Some weeks are better than others. Eventually my body learned to need the gym and my mind has followed. If I skip the gym too long my back starts to hurt, my stress levels rise and I feel crappy. Working out has become integral to my well being. That being said,…

Hi there! I love yoga but I haven't been practicing regularly this winter. I'm hoping to get back to going to my favorite class once a week. Unfortunately with the cold weather I have been so unmotivated to go outside any more than I have to ha-ha. Feel free to add me! I'd love more yoga buddies

I would suggest starting off by logging everything that you eat, without trying to stay below a certain amount. This will not only allow you to see how much you have been eating but will also help you get into the habit of logging every day and being honest with yourself. Next you can take a look at where easy changes can…

I love Zumba! Well, I love it with my instructor and I'm sure having a good/helpful instructor is a huge part of whether or not you will have a good experience. The first time I went I felt so out of step compared to those around me that I briefly considered leaving after only 15 minutes. I was so frustrated and…

You could log breastfeeding as an exercise and put the calories burned as the amount of calories that you want to add back to your daily amount.

congrats on all your success!

You can make freezer egg sandwiches with a baked egg (lightly scramble 1 egg in a ramekin, backe at 375 for 10-12 minutes until egg is set), sliced deli meat or sausage, cheese and an english muffin. After the egg is baked and cooled, assemble the sandwich and wrap in plastic wrap and keep in the freezer. To reheat, unwrap…

Pumpkin pie isn't too high in calories and has nutritional benefit. You could also make pumpkin custard...Just make the pie filling and bake in ramekin dishes with no crust.

Contrave is a combination of naltrexone and wellbutrin (bupropion). Naltrexone is an opioid antagonist so it blocks the mu receptors in the brain. The wellbutrin is an antidepressant which is also used to decrease tobacco cravings so I imagine it must work for all types of cravings (alcohol, opiates and even food…

weird...I just learned about this drug but for people with opiate and alcohol dependence (the population that I work with)....How is it supposed to help weight loss? ETA: Sorry this doesn't answer your question. I have never taken this medication and I don't know anyone who has. I am curious to the mechanism of…

Under armor makes some great cold weather gear but it can get pricey. Do you have a sports or running store near you? The staff might have good suggestions. Just be sure to check out their return policy so if something isn't comfortable or warm enough you can get your money back. Good luck you're braver than me! I live in…

Hey feel free to add me! I'm 26 y/o and looking to lose 30-40lbs. I'm down about 90lbs from my highest weight in high school though.

Rather than bringing up their weight issues it might be best to try and set a good example. Invite them on walks, to the gym or to exercise classes. Set aside a night every so often to get together and cook a healthy meal. These suggestions only work if you guys live close to one another.... I am also one of 4 sisters so I…

I work in healthcare so I have to get mine every year. I would probably get it anyways because my asthma puts me at greater risk for getting very ill from respiratory viruses.

calories and kcals refer to the same thing. Were the mushrooms raw or in a sauce?

Hi there! My story is a bit different but I just wanted to let you know that I have a pituitary adenoma (non-cancerous tumor). I was first diagnosed in 2009 and since then I have been closely followed by an endocrinologist and most recently added some eye doctors and a neurosurgeon to my "team". According to my first…

ehhhh mostly vegetarian (I do eat fish occasionally) but all of my work lunches are vegetarian. As were my school lunches last year. If you don't mind lugging around tupperware salads are a great option. Add beans, eggs or baked tofu for protein. Veggie sandwiches or wraps on whole pita with hummus, peppers, cucumbers etc.…

Nerd fitness just posted this the other day on getting started. I'm about to read it myself so I can't say anything about the content of the post yet but generally they have some great info. http://www.nerdfitness.com/blog/2014/02/06/strength-training-101-how-much-weight-should-i-be-lifting/

As others have mentioned I bring my baked goods into work. When I was in nursing school I'd bring in sweets for my clinical groups. Everyone loves free food so you can't really go wrong with sharing haha

The sushi restaurant in my town has vegan sushi with just vegetables like spinach and seaweed. Maybe this place will have some as well? Most other dishes may contain fish or oyster sauce so it will be hard to find something truly vegetarian.
