Exercise will enhance every other part of your life. Don't worry about gym people looking at you. Most of them are concentrating on their own self-improvement to bother looking at anyone else in the gym. Do it for you and your son and SO will benefit, too.

I think maintenance is easier and more rewarding that weight loss mode. The extra calories make me happy. I eat more and exercise less in maintenance than when I was in weight loss mode three years ago. It's a much more relaxed state. How can I help you?

I don't believe in any forbidden foods. Everything is fine in moderation. For best results, I use a food scale.

I lost 28 pounds while following a diet that was slightly over 50% carbs. Why did it work? Because it was sustainable and based on low-glycemic index carbs. Carbs are not evil - there's no reason to give them up.

I'm 49, 5'8" and small boned. My maintenance range is 128 - 132 pounds. If I pop above 132, I cut back on my calories to get to the lower end of my range.
