I am a medical social worker (BSW, licensed) working full time and going to school for my Masters (MSW) two nights a week. I have lost 35 lbs since Dec. 16, 2011. I am moving into the maintenance phase, but it is scary. I have learned so much about the content of the food I take in, and the benefit of exercise. Stress has…

It took me 4 1/2 months. I stick to 1200 calories a day and try my best to get on the elliptical and do arm weights daily. Lately I have not been so dedicated but not gaining anything. Good luck. You can do it! If you have a bad day or a bad week, just get back to it and don't think you should give up because you blew it…

I can't get over it either and I live here!

I would also add that perhaps there are eating disorders present with your mom and sister, weighing 80-90 lbs really is not typical among adult women unless they are extremely petite! Maybe emotional issues have them in anorexia status and you previously overeating. Emotional baggage and eating disorders present in…

This is emotional abuse, and quite possibly what led you to become overweight in the first place. Good for you taking control of this situation. Do it for you, no one else, and shed the emotional baggage your sister and mom keep trying to saddle you with. There are issues here that can't be easily fixed, but you can…

Tremendous success! Keep it up, you will get there. As a mother of twins I can totally relate.

Hi everyone! I am a medical social worker (BSW, LSW) in a Catholic hospital in Indiana. I work full time and go to school part time working on my Masters in Social Work. (MSW). I have three grown children and three adorable granddaughters, so my life is very full. I started my weight loss in December and as of today I am…

I am so sorry to hear this. I will pray for your family. I have been in the position of my Dad being removed from life support at the age of 57, so I truly understand your grief. I am also a social worker in a hospital and my primary assignment is oncology. I will say that there will come the time that you will KNOW what…

Thank you for sharing! I love that you pointed out it is a combination of things that lead to success. It's not JUST about diet and exercise. Getting the right kind of sleep, and getting rid of stressful people in your life must make the rest so much easier to handle. Congratulations. I truly admire your accomplishment!

so, you are saying if your exercise gives you more calories to eat you should make sure you eat them? Not go below 1200? Pretty new at this.

You are my inspiration!

"One of the best metaphors for illuminating the cognitive challenges that white people face in regard to racism was coined by Peggy McIntosh (1989,1992). She described how whites carry an "invisible knapsack" of white privilege. White people carry race privilege as "an invisible weightless knapsack of special provisions,…

I am a newbie too. Good luck to you! We will reach our goals. My daughter used this program and was wildly successful. She had three babies in 4 years and has gotten back into remarkable shape using this app on her phone. It takes will power and discipline. If she can do it, I hope I can too.
