  • I agree with the above statement. Be VERY careful about how you incorporate "metabolism boosting" advice into your diet. If it doesnt cost you anything in terms of calories (green tea, cayenne pepper) then go for it. The effects will be so small as to be almost unnoticeable, but over time could help you shed a few extra…
  • Im assuming the numbers the OP is using are based off of the Harris Benedict equation. So if RMR is 1600 on a sedentary day, 1600 x 1.2 = 1920. 1920 burned-1700 consumed = 220 deficit for that day.
  • I drink a lot of tea. Green or black in the morning, then herbal in the afternoon and evening. I found its a great substitute for snacking. Plus I keep a supply of Powerade Zero around. Ill go through one 32oz bottle every 3 days or so. A couple of times a week Ill have 4oz of pomegranate juice. That stuff is packed with…
  • Although Im not doing P90X I am doing Power 90 and have just order Power 90 Master series. I've lost 25 lbs since Jan 2nd! It really works. Good luck with the X, I hear its really intense. If you feel it's too much for you, try dropping down to Power 90 for awhile.
  • I usually have no problems finding something good and decent at Chinese places, as long as Im careful with the portions. One word of warning....sodium content is usually VERY high. I can easily put on 2+ lbs of water weight after eating out!! So be prepared and dont beat yourself up afterwards :)
  • Hi Caroline, In reading through this post, it seems to me you are doing everything pretty much correctly! You are exercising, losing weight, losing inches....thats great! Its hard to really get into the numbers w/o knowing your current height/weight - not sure if I overlooked them or not. Here's hopefully some inspiration.…
  • As Fitnessocial said, a high protein - LEAN protein - diet has been proven to increase diet induced thermogenics. So concentrate on eating healthy foods. Chicken, fish and tons of veggies. Please do not rely on pop-medicine gurus to give you accurate information regarding increasing your metabolism. Only in America do we…
  • It's kind of funny, but also a little sad; the people I have shown MFP always have some excuse as to why it wouldnt work for them. Most of the people around me who give lip service to health and weight seem to want to find a way to lose weight while eating cheeseburgers and cheesecake everyday. It takes discipline and…
  • The Bachelor! But I have started getting to the point where I just admit I watch. Its easier that way :)
  • The misuse of the world "literally" is my biggest pet peeve; but the loose/lose thing is gaining ground..... :)
  • Herbal tea has really helped me a lot. It satisfies that "oral" craving for stimulation, plus getting up and making it gives me that little 3-5 minute break.
