  • I am not a big fan of this article either. There was a lot of things in it that just aren't true. You will burn a lot more than 200-300 calories when you run for an hour. I'm only 132 pounds and I can burn over 700 in an hour.
  • I just bought it yesterday. I am keeping it in the trunk of my car. It isn't safe in the house.
  • I have a tv on my treadmill and a DVD player hooked up to that. I get netflix and I watched every single Sex and the City, and every Grey's Anatomy, now I am on Desperate Housewives and Smallville. And many movies. And I watch Biggest Loser while I run also. But my TV days are soon over because it is starting to warm up…
  • I had the same problem with over-pronation. I waited to long and ended up injured, (2 stress fractures in my hip) so now I have the custom orthodics and that has really helped.
  • You can train for a 10k on the treadmil. You might find it really hard to come from the treadmill to the road on race day. I would recommend slowly increasing the amount of time you run outside. Give you muscles and joints time to get stronger. I spent 6 months on the treadmill (live in ND, frozen tundra) and I had to…
  • Did you take any measurements?? If not you should.
  • I enter it as circuit training.
  • 5 outside. Felt great to be outside again, the weather has been crazy in ND.
  • Love it, did it today. Plan on doing it again tomorrow.
  • After your done running your body wants to replace those carbs for stored energy. That is best done right after a run. But if you don't have those carbs right after your run, and have them the next morning, your body was still waiting for them. It needs them for you next run. This is probably why you are starving.
  • Yep this is true. You need some carbs. It will be turned into Glycogen and stored in your muscle for your next run. A banana with some peanut butter is good to.
  • Me likey flavored crisco.
  • 11 miles yesterday, 6 today. Less than 2 weeks until my half marathon.
  • Ahh Thanks-I needed that.
  • I have heard it is a good program. I know it is really hard starting out, but stick with it.

  • Depends, what runners call a "fartlek" acutally means to speed up and slow down durring your run. No particular speed or intervals, just random speed play. And then interval training would be a more set distance and pace. 4x1600@7:59 w/800 jogs. That is a specific interval workout but it is also considered speed work. Hope…
  • I said I wasn't going to log them, but I just did. I guess I am addicted to logging. May have a love/hate relationship.
  • The weights don't have to be very heavy.
  • Did it this morning, my plan is to do it 20 times this month. Going to Vegas May 1st, wanna look good.
  • Eating within 15 minuets is best. The glycogen will go to your muscles and be stored there are energy for your next workout.
  • That might be because you got it 8 years ago. I heard from someone that it is recently that the quality of them has went down. Mine was a floor model too, and the ifit is so cool, I just wish it didn't have all those little problems. Kind of a bummer.
  • I was thinking sears would be the place to go for a treadmill. I was wrong. I got a Nordictrack. I do like it, it is a beautiful machine. It has a TV on it, nice spacious track, ajustable cushion deck, ifit, and at a good price. But I have been fixing on it all the time! Thank the Lord I bought the extended warrienty but I…
  • I am going to take a break from logging for awhile and see what happens. I haven't lost anything logging and I am just tired of it too. Now if I stop logging and lose a few lbs that would really be something.
  • I am trying to say no to it, but it is in so much stuff. Even my yogurt that I love has it in it. What's a girl to do???
  • Ok, ok. You got me thinking about it. But I have a goal for this fall, and I really haven't said it out loud cuz I don't know if it is possible.... I want to qualify for Boston, and I dont' know if I should cut back on running to do that or not.
  • I run 5 days a week right now. So maybe I could cut that back and add ChaLean a couple day. It would be really hard to cut back my miles-I am addicted to it.
  • I have had many days with no diet coke and those are hard. I have had a little bit here and there, yesterday I had 12 ounces. I used to drink 48+ ounces a day and on the weekends even more. I am just trying to wean myself down to none. Today so far none.
  • Do you think you would see much results if you could only do it 2 times a week? Or is that just not enough.
  • I just wanted to say that Tempo runs are very hard for me too. I find them easier on the treadmill because you don't need to find that pace naturally-you just push a button. But doing a tempo run outside is a challenge.
  • Oh don't worry-you will be fine. I have been running for 2 years and have completed 4 halves and 1 full, numerous shorter runs. Everyone has days and runs like that. Don't beat yourself up about it. If you are getting your long runs in and this is the only time you haven't completed a run you are doing great! Maybe you…
