Thanks guys! I'm hoping to try summer of 2016. I've hiked a few of the 7-9 mile mountains and done some trails near Sunrise but nothing with a heavy backpack like you guys have been suggesting! Camp Muir would be an awesome hike.

When its my time of the month I can gain upwards of 7 pounds and then I'm back to normal a week later. Could that be it?
-
My 20th birthday is July and I'd like to go from 235 to 170 too! Love to add you!

I've been running indoors, but it's in my old dusty basement so maybe it is allergens

I'm 240 and I have been able to run without any problems (besides some serious huffing and puffing). I would definitely try to get swimming! Its very easy on your joints but still a serious workout. When I run I do get a little achey in my knees so I have to run every other day but I can swim every day with no problem.

Yum bump

Haha I've been on and off logging. :embarassed: But I am a very carb prone person.

30DS is awesome (: I could only do half a real pushup the first day and had to keep taking breaks. I'm on day 8 now and can do 10 pushups easy and can do the whole thing nonstop. If you're like me and get bored after the third day, I'd suggest having 30DS playing on your laptop and watching TV while you're working out.

Since I'm picture person, here;s a nifty diagram if you scroll down a little http://www.dummies.com/how-to/content/how-to-get-your-body-measurements.html

I can't believe Matt Bomer hasn't made anyone's list yet

Some people only eat back 20 - 50% of their exercise calories, because MFP and exercise machines tend to overcalculate how many calories you burn.

I used to be a year round swimmer. It definitely brings the good side of your curves out (; Are you just doing freestyle? I'd check out breast, back, and butterfly to work some different muscles. (Butterfly is really tough to do until you get the motions of it, but it will really work your arms)

Here is a HUGE list containing links to a bunch of different workout videos (30DS, Insanity, Zumba, Yoga). I haven't checked them all out to see if they work or not, but worst-case it'll give you some video titles to look at. http://weightt-loss.tumblr.com/post/29499260448/workout-links I'd also check out BeFit's Youtube…

I don't like all the math. :embarassed: I've heard of another food diary idea where, instead of counting calories, you take pictures of your meal. That way you get a visual look at how much you have eaten instead of looking at numbers.

Yes! "Coffee and tea also count in your tally. Many used to believe that they were dehydrating, but that myth has been debunked. The diuretic effect does not offset hydration." - WebMD http://www.webmd.com/parenting/features/healthy-beverages

You can add me! We have the same weight goals and height. I'll be hard on you if you'll be hard on me (;

I'm hoping to do it when it comes to Richmond... although I'm not sure how the running part will go

My family and I were on vacation and decided to stop at Tudor's biscuit world, thinking it was a small town diner (we had never seen one before). We decided to eat there anyway and I tried to go healthy. I checked my phone a few hours later for their nutrional information - 500 calories for ONE BISCUIT. And Costco! The…

I think I'm starting next Monday, after all my summer vacations are officially done and over with. I'm excited. And scared I won't be able to walk... What kind of weights did you guys use? I'm thinking five pounds is a good start for a first timer.

I agree with everyone on here. Go slower, and keep pushing yourself. I now how you feel about hills. Once a week I've been training outside, and the rest have been on the treadmill. I struggled the first day too (i was really beating myself up about it. I REALLY was out of breath doing sixty seconds of jogging? C'mon…

Thanks for all the advice everyone! I guess I'll try to fit both in and let my body tell me if I need a break or not.
-
Thanks for the replies! (:

When I do it on the treadmill I put in the calories the machine says I did. When I do it outside I usually file it under 'walking 3.5' pace' because its the median between my walk and jog (I'm a slow jogger ;n; ) But leslie's idea sounds so much more sensible. I'd do it her way (:

This is now my desktop wallpaper (:

I suppose you could do the couch to 5k programme, but instead of "walk x amoutn of time then jog y amount of time" you can have it so its "jog x amount of time, run y amount of time" So the first week would look something like: Warmup 60 second run 90 second jog interval for 20 minutes

Sounds awesome! (Maybe then I can reward myself with a piece of candy? XD ) Starting weight: 243 ;-; Goal weight: 223 If anyone can add me so I have some friends doing the challenge together that would be great!
-
Are you taking your measurements? I highly suggest you do. If the case is that you're replacing fat with muscle, thus keeping your weight you should still be losing inches!
-
I'm a vegetarian, so its hard to find entrees that's /aren't/ carb filled (seriously, they're all pastas!) mostly because they are filling. I don't pay too much attention to carbs, and I've been told by a couple people you don't have to unless you are diabetic. The reason many fad diets call for low carb is because once…

I've read everywhere that one or two "cheat meals" a week can be good for keeping up morale. They don't have to be junk food, necessarily. I've decided that every ten pounds I lose I'm going to treat myself to Sweet Frog (:
