fruit is fairly calorie dense...but it is also nutrient dense. Fruit is good for you! As long as you're staying within reasonable calorie limits with it...eat fruit!

this this this!!! Diets are temporary, and the successes probably will be too. Any "diet" will work...but can you live that way? Probably not. Make a series of small lifestyle changes, and long term success and better health are your rewards!
-
don't cut out anything! they moment you tell yourself "I can never have THAT again"....THAT is all you will crave and eventually this can lead to a big ol' binge. The key to success is in moderation, portion control, and making healthy choices most of the time. Sometimes, we have to pass up something we really love, but…

if you're doing the MFP "method"...then yes, you eat them back. there are several articles here that explain it...but the bottom line is...yes, it works, you need the nutrition, don't assume faster is better. take care of your body, it's the only one you get.

go get a professional bra fitting. you'll be glad you did. trust me!

no sense talking to her, she's decided what she's doing and won't listen to reason. The binges will start soon, and the heartbreaking WHAT WENT WRONG posts....If she was expecting lots of sympathy here instead of hard headed realism...she came to the wrong place. Ive been here long enough to have seen it a few dozen times.

it's like an argument about religion....everyone gets all worked up insisting they are right...but ultimately, no one gets anywhere.

I don't think it is necessarily coincidence. Weight loss is not a linear predictable process, changing your eating/exercise routine can affect it in unpredictable ways. I would be willing to bet that after "sticking to the exact same calories and routine for months on end" if you were to jump the fence and be more…

wrong. seems logical, but wrong. your body doesn't shut down at night...even your brain. overnight weight gain is most likely just the water and solids that haven't made it through your system yet..totally inconsequential.
-
yup. I'm about her age. and.....?
-
sure, if that is a deficit level for you. Probably, it is. And don't worry about eating "clean"....that's a meaningless nebulous woo-woo buzzword these days. Eat sensibly. You know how to make healthy choices....do it, most of the time. That's all there is to it.
-
by 22 and you're stressing? oh for pete's sake....you do realize that every single calorie calculation of every kind is an estimate, and you've probably been over, or under by a couple of hundred calories more than once and didn't even know it? And you know what.....it didn't matter!!!!! Don't worry so much about the day…

Telling yourself you can never enjoy something you love ever ever again...is a sure path to failure. So do eat the stuff you love...in moderation of course...but always keep nutrition in mind too. Life's too short not to eat ice cream!

There's no set answer to that. How much do want to lose, how fast? What's your everyday lifestyle like? Are you eating your burned calories or doing some other method of counting? The quick answer is...experimentation will show you how to succeed. But....1300 is not a lot of calories to begin with, and if you're not eating…

No program, no diet, no restrictions I refuse to live with, no weigh-ins unless I want to, none of that stuff. What works is logging what I'm eating, eating reasonable, mostly planned amounts of whatever I want...including "fattening" things. Life's too short not to enjoy my food, So, basically..it's eat less, move more,…

Pro cook here....I've found I have to just keep tasting to TASTING...not eating...and I do ok. Actually, I'm pretty bored with everything we serve, good as it is, so it isn't all that tempting anymore. I just sort of put it in a different mental category...this isn't food, this is just stuff I'm working on....
-
I could lose on 1200..but I would also be miserable, hungry, and grouchy. Why put myself through that?
-
try making higher calorie choices in the foods you are eating....full fat dairy, peanut butter, nuts, oils. If you're filling up on "low calorie" things and leafy greens, you may not be eating enough just because you're full. Be sure to get enough protein. good luck!
-
for heaven's sake eat something! set a reasonable calorie goal (MFP can help you do that) and eat a good balanced diet. Don't eat less than 1200 calories, and do eat back any exercise calories. Please treat your body better than this...its the only one you get!
-
I generally agree....discipline, not will power. And it comes down to making a series of healthy choices, one at a time, all day. Don't assume that just because you ate a cookie (or 6) that you've FAILED AT LIFE. You made a bad choice. Learn from it, move on, do better, and forgive yourself. No one is perfect every moment…

Fruit does have lots of sugar, relative to other things like veggies or meats. However...it also has tons of vitamins and micronutrients, fiber, and FLAVOR. Fruit is good for you, in moderation. Eat fruit!

No one is laughing at you. What they are doing is good natured asking for clarification of what you wrote. Lighten up. Your PT is not a nutritionist, and probably has no training in it. What you've been given is off base for healthy eating, and so vague as to be pretty useless. And that's certainly not something to laugh…

Another vote for Kashi Go-Lean.....such yummy stuff. It's great as a topping for some yogurt, or as a bowl of cereal with your milk of choice. (no bro science allowed....use the one you like best.) I'm also a big oatmeal lover. Trader Joe has some frozen steel cut oats and quinoa cereal that microwaves quickly, is low cal,…

We use it at our house because it is lower calorie, with lots of calcium, and it tastes good for what we use it for....cereals, smoothies. Neither of us just drinks a glass of any kind of milk (except dark chocolate almond milk now and then...because it is so darn delicious). Dairy milk also is fairly high in…

you. you I like.:drinker:

me too...and if you feed that beast some fruit....Miracle Whip!!!

Agree. Her body make up may make that weight unhealthy. Sounds like she has a hang up on that number rather than a healthy goal.

Not a major problem...but I'm sort of between sizes on my underwear. The larger size is just a tad too loose, and the smaller one is just a tad too tight. Also...my butt has gotten smaller, and shaped differently, it seems....underwear that used to fit fine now spend the day crawling up my butt under my jeans at work. I am…

Most doctors don't get a lot of training in nutrition or weight loss. They really don't understand the mechanics of it much better than the rest of us. So what this doctor is doing is pretty much what a lot of us would do....going by anecdotal or popular culture stories and somewhat outdated information. I think sticking…

cleanses do a great job of cleaning stray money out of your wallet and leaving you with unnecessary "health" products.
