  • I’m on 1650, losing slow and steady. Pleased with my progress and not driving myself crazy with unattainable strictness. It’s all about balance.
  • Enjoy your vacation, and get back on track when you get home. This is a small traffic hump, not a major roadblock. No one expects perfection. Relax.
  • I have air fried sweet potato fries for lunch frequently.....cut into fries, toss with a tiny bit of oil, season how you like, and yum!
  • I like oatmeal with an egg mixed in. Makes the oatmeal creamy and yummy, and lots of protein in there
  • Enjoy dairy. I stopped using nondairy creamers for a different reason beyond health.....most of them I can get here are made by a reprehensible corporation who will get not one cent of my money if I can help it. YMMV.
  • I’ve been eating sensibly for a couple of months, until the last few days.....it was chorus concert week so my schedule went to heck. I even stopped for a late night Big Mac. With fries. And regretted it the next morning. Yuck. Back to sanity...call ncerts are over. My body sure will let me know when something was not a…
  • I have a favorite machine and get a little uncomfortable if someone is using the one next to it. We all studiously ignore each other, beyond a nod of greeting. I guess it’s only a problem if someone is talking loudly on their phone, which happens way too often
  • We have some crustless pizzas in the freezer (my partner is eating keto style) that were calling my name this morning. I’m going to structure the rest of the day so I can just enjoy that tonight.
  • Walking is a perfectly great exercise. Find ways to make it fit into your life, and make it fun by walking new routes, seeing new things, making some walking friends. You can do this. I know youre discouraged right now, and its understandable, but its ok to grieve a little while for what you can’t do, and then go out and…
  • You’re probably ready to up your exercise a bit...either by adding more walking, or some other exercise you like. Good for you! You’re doing great!
  • Burgers! Yum! Or chili would be awesome
  • Calorie deficit equals weight loss. But using a lot of your calories on something as non nutritious as sugar isn’t good. Switch out some fruit for more veggies or lean protein and see how it goes.
  • Grilled petite sirloin steaks, and whatever veggies we have.
  • I just ignore it....since every day is NOT going to be like today. I eat a variety of foods over the course of a few days, and some days I exercise, and some days I don’t, and now and then I go over my calories. And that’s all ok.
  • Sounds boring. You’re covering your vitamin needs and all that, but yawn..... I’d maybe skip the pasta, and certainly lower that sauce....how about a chicken breast with a bit of that sauce and a little fresh mozzarella on it, or some pesto? Maybe instead of the bedtime fruit, have some veggies...jicama sticks are…
  • Frankly, I think if you’re planning out every meal for months in advance, you’re likely to rebel and binge out of boredom. Give yourself plenty of reasonable options for meal choices, and don’t plan too far in advance...you never know what will be on sale or looking good at the store, or what you might be in the mood for.…
  • My partner is doing a keto style diet, I’m back on MFP. We are both losing and both happy with how we are doing it. She’s dropping faster than I am at this point, but since her medical issues are more severe, I think that’s ok. The only problems come in shared dinners....she wont eat the pasta I love to enjoy now and then,…
  • I’ve noticed some of the people walking by the yoga classroom sometimes staring a little....but thirty middle aged and older ladies all in down dog position rear ends facing the window would be a sight, I suppose. Harassment? Never. And a few of those starers have come and joined us.
  • I have a Ninja Pro model...blender cup, processor cup, and two smoothie cups, one larger than the other. I use them for smoothies all the time. It works great. The blender is actually far larger than I need, so it doesn’t get much use. The processor is nice for pesto and such, but doesn’t do grating or slicing, so I get…
  • Yes! Love it! I sautée some diced zucchini and a little onion in my small cast iron pan, add some salsa (some store bought ones are delicious) and break a couple of eggs on the top. Into the oven for ten minutes and yum yum! You can also add some potato, or even a diced corn tortilla, but if youre staying lower in carbs…
  • Last night I made a Brussels sprout and chicken gratin with Parmesan cheese. My partner is eating Keto style, but I’m not...so a lot of food in the house right now is pretty high in fat. I figure I can enjoy it too, just in smaller amounts, and fill in with more veggies or fruit if I’m still hungry. So far so good, and the…
  • in the winter I make steel cut oats in the crock pot...a batch makes four or five hearty breakfasts. I use almond milk instead of water....more flavor, and some calcium. I love the Jimmy Dean Delights sandwiches. And have you tried banana pancakes? Blend one ripe banana, a quarter cup oats, one egg, one eggwhite, and a…
  • sure. it's all about calorie deficit. Don't under-eat....eat all your calories, 1200 isn't very much to begin with, and eating less that that can actually work against you. Take care of your body...feed it right!
  • I only use protein powder if the rest of my breakfast doesn't have much protein (if I'm having oatmeal, or toast), or sometimes just to make my smoothie creamier....just for the flavor. It's a handy thing to have available, but certainly not necessary. If I'm having eggs today....no protein powder needed, I'm getting lots…
  • if you're using MyFitnessPal....counting calories is where it's at. You can eat what you like and what tastes good to you, if you're following portion control and counting your calories. Personal trainers may know a lot about working your bodies, but they don't alway know much or anything about feeding them....they seem to…
  • what they said....you're the only one who can do it. Just decide, and do. Whether you really want to or not. The only workout you ever regret is the one you didn't do, so get up, get out, and do it! (Yes, I know it isn't easy...I need to get back to it too. thanks for MY kick in the butt!)
  • don't feed the trolls....or encourage insanity. this is NOT a good idea.
  • if it works for you, and helps you stay in control of your choices, then do it! I don't think it makes a huge difference unless you have problems with blood sugar levels--then it could definately help you. I think for me, it would lead to eating too much over the course of the day. You have to find your own perfect balance.
