If you consume less food than your body needs to function at whatever you're doing, your body metabolizes stored fat (hopefully fat, not muscle....another explanation) so you lose the weight of that utilized fat. The trick is to also maintain nutrition levels for good health, and food satisfaction. Clearer?

Did you read what she said? She's not eating enough to keep a bird alive. Her diet is NOT OK. OP...please see a doctor with some training in nutrition issues...or eating disorders.

If you're following MFP methods...and have good accurate numbers for your burned calories...(HRM...NOT MFPs numbers)...then yes, you should eat most of those back. It works. Trust me.
-
Ok..so you're hurting your diet and your budget. Up to you, I guess.
-
You don't have very much to lose...so this aggressive a goal may not go so well. More practical and do-able would be to aim at one lb a week. That gives you more calories...easier to stick to, and easier to get good nutrition. 1200 is the MFP default minimum...it really isn't appropriate for very many people.

Bottom line...hes acting like a jerk and a spoiled brat. Go on vacation....without him....and let him deal with things the way you do for a couple of weeks.
-
Of course. Frequently. Everyone is human...ain't nobody here perfect. (Or we wouldn't be here....) Let it go...enjoy what you had, learn from it, move on.

Not much you can do until she is ready to make changes for herself. Offer a class to her if she brings it up, but otherwise all you can do is shrug...and move on.

I think a check-box option would be handy. For fruits or veggies, or did I take my vitamins today ...or whatever.

Cardio is for health. It doesn't "burn fat". Burns off a few calories, sure, but you could make that up in eating less. What cardio does is strengthen your heart, your lungs, your whole body. I don't plan to be a skinny corpse any sooner than I have to...so I do my cardio and have come to enjoy it.

Counting calories, eating better, and exercising moderately is the only thing that works for me. Pills, fancy expensive meal plans, hormones crap, ...none of that is worth my time or my health. They don't do it...I DO!!
-
I'm never hungry except at appropriate times. If this is a huge issue for you...first see your doctor, of course. You may need to overhaul your diet plan, but making sure you're healthy to do so comes first.
-
That's exactly what it means. Eat back at least half of your burn.
-
You have the best tool right here. Set up your MFP account, follow the calorie guidelines it gives you, log everything honestly and accurately and you can succeed.

I find we spend about the same making healthier choices, but food preparation is a bit more labor intensive. Totally worth it, but it does take a bit longer. We do eat out once a week or so...usually with a coupon or a twofer deal. I also participate in Bountiful Baskets. Co-op twice a month and make sure to use all that…

Okra. Its slimy, Asparagus. It makes your pee smell funny. Fake soy pasta. See "slimy" above. Chocolate. Its mine. Rocks. Hard on the teeth.

I had some chocolate calories in a Cadbury chocolate creme egg yesterday. Oooooohhhh Yum!!! However, I am normally very partial to Milky Way Midnight.

One banana, one egg, one eggwhite, a quarter cup oats, dash of cinnamon. Blend, griddle...devour.

I put mine in smoothies. Our desert tortoise like hers plain and raw....
-
Not the healthiest way to eat them....but I love them gratinee. Salt and pepper, parcooked sprouts, heavy cream and cheese. God above...so yummy!
-
We got artichokes in our Bountiful Basket yesterday..so dinner tonight was some chicken spring rolls and a steamed artichoke with garlic butter. Yum.
-
Probably not...but nothing there was very nutritious, and there's always a downside to that.
-
You didn't want advice. You wanted an "atta girl!". You got honest advice. Butthurt ensues.
-
I love Earnest Eats Mayan blend hot cereal....but I cant find it in stores anymore!!! Wah!!!!!!
-
your "shoulds" are a bit judgmental. Not everyone has your mindset. If this is your interest and passion...hooray! Doesn't make you morally or ethically superior.

I log my breakfast. Every morning. Even if I'm not going to be logging the rest of the day, which I usually don't anymore....getting that first thing in the morning mindset going of starting the day healthy and mindful of my choices helps me get through the rest of the day. Its become a habit...and I think its a good one.…
