  • I have about 150lb to lose ... anyone feel free to add me
  • Another one for Stronglifts! I was discouraged by how easy it was at first, but it got harder and now I love it!
  • To be honest, I don't even really *like* the cookies and it's not that I'm hungry ... It's just boredom and "busy hand" sydrome. I am doing meal prep now so am going to throw in some low cal snacks hopefully that'll help with restless hand lol.
  • Thanks guys! Will stick it out on stronglifts and maybe just add a couple of other things to it to make it feel "complete". I usually do two warm up set per lift (5 reps) since I am only lifting 20lb above bar weight. I do one at just bar weight just to check my form since I am still a newbie, then I do one set with 10 lb…
  • Following. Don't stress OP! If you have common sense, you'll be fine! Most people at the gym are pretty nice, or they keep to themselves. Just don't take up multiple pieces of equipment or do annoying things like sit on a machine and use your phone unless you are able to use your phone and the machine simultaneously…
  • Well, moved the mare face. Now battling some lameness issues. About to blow an abscess up front and dealing with some negative plantar angles in the hind coffins... booooo. But in more exciting news... I guess my new goal is to get my new horse started under saddle :)
  • Thanks for the opinions guys ... I just find that it's insanely hard to stay under carbs unless I eat almost no fruit or veggies ... I don't eat pasta/rice/bread/protein bars/etc etc, and don't eat much processed food either. But if I have a grapefruit in the morning, that's 1/2 my total carbs for the day... so if I had a…
  • Lift lift lift. And do lots of core work. I like to do 30 crunches, 30 second plank, 30 reverse crunches, 30 second plank, 30 side crunches, 30 second plank, 30 side crunches (other side), 30 second plank. Yoga is great for the core. And I do mixed cardio... I like cycling, running, and using an uphill elliptical.
  • Chicken wings Cadbury Creme eggs Sour patch kids Bacon Make your own pizza from Pizza Pizza (creamy garlic sauce, pepperoni, mushroom, pineapple, bacon, and extra cheese) Ugh. Yum.
  • The nice thing about C25K and Stronglifts 5x5 is that they both have a phone app. I find it so much easier to do my workouts with the app reminding me, because I don't want to miss days and mess up my "schedule". Not sure if it's for all phones, but the Iphone definitely has both and they work really well!
  • My first goal is to move my horse from her current facility to the new one (May 1st is my est. date). Find a new coach. Get my mare schooling first level by the end of the year. And I guess get a dressage saddle, blegh.
  • I *think* that I am lifting with proper form. I have read everything I can get my hands on and watched lots of youtube clips on a multitude of lifts (most of them from here, so hopefully you guys are pointing me to clips with proper form lol) ... I was hoping to get a PT to show me the proper techniques for lifting, but my…
  • I am a VERY picky eater. Since beginning dieting, my food issues have just swapped the spectrum. I don't like anything with "funny" smells, textures, looks. I am that person who orders the exact same thing every time I go somewhere because I hate trying new things. With my eating habits before, I was very fussy about food…
  • Feel free to add me! I started January at 305lb... I am now 278 and trending downward. If I can do it, so can you!! The main thing to remember is that you will fail- lots of times. You will have a day where you eat 1500+ calories in one sitting. You will have a day where it seems like you can never lose the weight, there…
  • In short, probably! As long as you're at a calorie deficit, you'll lose weight. As for "enough" it's your personal goals for fitness/etc ... I consider my workout "enough" if I am tired at the end of it. If I sweat, am tired, and/or accomplished something that I had previously been unable to do, that's "enough" for me. I…
  • I'm the same... if it's about weight loss, I love it. Even my 600lb life. Although I would find it more inspiring if it wasn't all about surgery... because there are people who have started that size and lost all the weight through healthy eating and exercise. .. not saying that bariatric patients don't do those too... but…
  • And she's lost 113 pounds according to her tracker, so how bad could pb really be ;) I like peanut butter, but I don't eat all that much of it... I like it on a piece of toast or melted to dip apple slices in. Yum.
  • Just do it :) I am that 280lb person at the gym right now. But you know what? I started as the 305lb person at the gym. With the exception of literally ONE person who made comments about how women shouldn't waste everyone's time by trying to lift weights- everyone has been nice. The attendants always give me a big smile…
  • Lol, I'm basically you. Except I eat 1700, workout six days a week ... but I do have a horse and love her to pieces! You can do it!
  • Ding ding ding.... and this, I believe, would be called professionalism! I would be much more likely to commend someone who honestly thought we would not be a good coaching match than someone who coached me and talked about me later. I would love to hire a PT ... even just to show me the proper techniques of lifting. I am…
  • If you want it, you'll make it happen. Sure, you can lose weight by not exercising..but you aren't promoting a healthy lifestyle. You can lose weight, but you probably won't be much more "fit" than you are now. Losing weight = eating at a deficit. As long as you are eating under your maintenance calories, you'll lose…
  • I would like to join the group! Great topic, everyone always talks about the upsides of losing weight but rarely the emotional "downsides".
  • A couple of weeks ago, I bought a pair of really cute size 12 skinny fit jeans with some pant splatters and "artsy" rips in them ... and they are a SMALL 12 ... currently in a 16/18 so will be ecstatic when they fit!
  • It is possibly more like 35 ... my scale may be inaccurate. My SW was 305 (doc's office, so accurate!) , and my CW according to my home scale is 279 ... but on a gym scale, I have weighed as small as 268 ... so I am not sure ... I am trying to focus more on healthy eating and exercise than on the physical number lost :)…
  • I read this article one time (sorry, I don't remember the link or I'd post it) that says that when you are carrying extra weight, your face begins to look generic, since the fat on your face takes away from your unique facial features.. which makes a lot of sense! So your face can definitely change a ton with weight…
  • I weigh a lot more than you... and am about 5" taller, but I actually had to up my calories because I was losing too quickly (and am going for strong and sustainable instead of quick loss)... eating MFP's suggested 1600 calories, I was losing sometimes upwards of 5lb per week on a moderate exercise plan (cardio 6x/ week,…
  • I have been telling myself to start lifting, but haven't yet. Because I am nervous! I'm NOT nervous of getting "bulky" or anything like that, because I know that that isn't the case. I am nervous because there is no personal training at my gym, and I don't have a workout buddy...so I am afraid to start lifting alone. How…
  • Strength training can help, I've heard, but it can take years and years to get your skin firm again, if ever. I have a five year plan, myself. I am giving myself two years to lose all of the weight that I want to lose (180 lb total), two years of focusing on maintaining and toning, and one year after that to lead a healthy…
