My goal is 1590, but when I exercise, I ususally eat back 200-300 of those calories in addition (MFP adds those in for me). It's working for me and I'm actually dropping the weight faster than the 2lb goal and I'm not hungry or dragging A. :) This is totally doable for the long haul... and I've got a long way to go.

Where does he work? Can I make your hubs my new family doc?

Some doctors get commission or kick backs from certain drugs they prescribe. That should be illegal! My sis was prescribed twice the legal limit of adderoll and it almost killed her... more than once before the pharmasist caught it. My advice is do the research yourself, the info is out there and accessible. BUT you have…

IMO, NOPE! I think the MFP recommendations are too generalized. I need more protein than what is reccommended so I adjusted my levels to increase my protein allotment. Other peopel may not need more, but if you find yourself going over regularly and feeling physically better, it might be right for you too. I feel better,…

I don't want to hijack this thread, it's a good one. But can you start a new post about this? I'm furious and won't let my Kindergarden girl have the breakfast... she was getting 2. Mine and the schools. The luches are rediculous, I'd like to make cold lunches for her, but she would feel like it was punishment, I haven't…

Down another 3.4 lbs, so that's really close to 1/2 way to my feb goal. It was ambitious and I'm not sure I'll make it, but I really really want it. 2 more weeks like this one and it will be so. :)

It's never to young to be concerned about your health. But my opinion is that it matters more about the intensity of the concern and if it is legit. Sometimes people think they have weight problems when it's just body image problems. My daughter is 6 and she is getting a bit of a chunk belly. She knows it's there but…

I have a problem with overeating and not making good choices about the frequency of what kind of foods I can calorically 'afford'. I already know what it takes to lose weight and regain it, I'm here learning what it takes to lose it to keep it off. This is my new lifestyle. It IS getting easier and I won't always spend as…

I've lost and gained several times in my life... probably totaling over 300lbs totaled up. I've got a long ways to go again, but my theory on why it didn't stay off was because I wasn't "working toward a goal." This time I'm accepting that this is a lifestyle and that I will be logging everything and trying to be in my…

Interesting take. I think we are all abuse food in one way or another or we wouldn't be here. People do dangerous and unhealthy things with good resources all the time, but I wouldn't ban someone from using MFP just because they are sick. If she's promoting abuse in a forum, that should be banned. But as far as her…

My momd did the band last summer and has had NO success. She has had pain and frustration and other difficulties, but NO weightloss. She wasn't at peace with her choice to do it before and she regrets it now. My reccommendation is to be at peace with your decision no matter what it is.

I use them, but as a food choice not a diet. I've tried just about every diet out there and none of them work for a lifestyle...The prescribed Herbalife Diet didn't even work. Right now I am choosing Herbalife Formula 1, Personal Protein Powder and, Protein Drink Mix vs milk as 2 of my 6 meals. I find they are satisfying,…

Belgianal- congrats on your progress and impressive goals. You are doing great and still on track. 39lbs is amazing! Keep up the fantastic work! Jesusislove- You are soo close to breaking an impressive barrier. I know you can do it, and I'm betting it happens this week. Just 2 lbs will bring you to the 200 club! w2bab-…

Thanks for the post. It makes sense to me. hmmm, 9pm here. g'night!

You can still eat all your exercise calories and lose weight. I don't always eat mine back. Most days I eat some back. My general rule is: if I'm hungry or draggin' A, I eat. It's a lifestyle not a race to a number.

I am an all or nothing kind of gal myself. I had to get past looking at this like a diet and start using it as a tool to build a healthy lifestyle. My only rule with this application is to LOG EVERYTHING. I can do that 100% every day. You can do this!

Responsible. Although, it's important to read the menu first to make sure you are not asking questions that are already answered. I used to be a server, it's their job to know how the food is prepared and get you what you want. I actually liked it when people had special requests because it usually meant a higher tip...…

Carry a waterbottle with you. I drink way more when I have it and miss it when I don't. If you are dehydrated and begin hydrating, you may hit the 'potty' a lot for the first few days, but it will level out and feel normal to you soon. Good luck!

"Neat" water is a factor to my success. I find I used to mistake thirst for hunger. Now if I want to 'snack' outside of my norm, I drink 32 oz of water over about an hour and find I'm not hungry for another hour or so. Also, I'll retain water (weight) if I don't drink enough. It makes my ancles, hands and around my eyes…

Agreed! I avoid most "sugar free" and "fat free" products because they aren't digested the same way and do alter insuline levels. Those points have not been disputed regardless of whether or not the products have been "deemed safe" by people selling something. I think of it like dessert or alcohol. Not the end of all life…

I'm impressed that you kept track of your calories! I'm sure everyone on here has had a day or more like that and just didn't bother to count. That awareness alone is a HUGE step in making positive changes in your health. I've had a sordid relationship with food all my life, and know that the only way to correct something…

Don't stress it yet. 1lb a week is possible and I know you can do it. Just remember that there are several factors in weight loss and some of them are deceiving. If you have built muscle with your workouts, your body composition has changed for the better even though the scale hasn't. Every good choice will eventually…

Great work ladies! We are on our way!!! Is anyone noticing other changes in health or fitness? Are your clothes fitting looser yet? Are other people noticing your behavior changes or weight loss? These are great successes too. I love seeing the number on the scale drop, but I like feeding my delusion that I'm a healthy hot…

Hey! Ya made it through the night and you're still here... checking in on MFP... woot! We all do the self pitty-self sabbotage-self loathe thing once in a while. You had your turn on the pitty cycle. Now it's time to get back to work. My favorite way to break the cycle is a good old fashioned tantrum. Do you have a…

I found this great article that makes a lot of sense. It's a fantastic explanation with tips and tools to determine what is really going on when the scale won't budge AND HOW TO FIX IT. I will be referring to it when my scale get "sticky"... and it will.…

I've been doing a little research on plateaus and "starvation mode" and I found this great article that looks scientifically sound, and is put more simply and clearly than anything else I've seen. It's a fantastic explanation with tips and tools to determine what is really going on when the scale won't budge AND HOW TO FIX…

Agreed! "Starvation Mode" is a bit dramatic, and it really should be reserved to communicate a condition of those who are truly about to starve to death. I am guilty of using this term more liberally than I should. I guess I have a flare for the dramatic. HOWEVER, there is a sliver of truth to the theory that shouldn't be…

Thanks for posting this. I was actually wondering about this myself. Not for weight loss, because it's not a lifestyle I want, but for general health and kick start to the organs. eolivero, it certainly seems to be working miracles for you. Are you following the Fat Sick & Nearly Dead protocol, or doing a different juicing…
