I am in the same boat, 5 year ago I had lost 35kgs but injuries knocked me down and messed with my head. I have started back only a few weeks ago, I always knew what I had to do (and how to do it) but found I needed a strong focus to help reboot my head space, just telling myself to cut the amount of what I was eating was…

Have a look at http://www.trainerroad.com/ , they have a large list of static trainers calibrated for use with their program to deliver power readings. If you want to use the reading for training feedback and measurable personal improvement then this way works really well. Worst case is that you buy a new static trainer…

Great work, but is it really wrong that the first thing I thought of was that I have the same red undies?

I have had to buy two new helmets in the past 12 months due to them doing their job. On two completely different bikes I have come off and only the helmet turned what would have probably been stretcher cases into just embarrassing mishaps. The first was on my road bike where I cut a corner a bit too much and the handle bar…

Having just spent a week and a half riding 6000km to raise awareness and support for depression and mental health issues, I can tell you you are not alone. Depression comes is all shapes and sizes (pardon the pun:-) and to suffer some short term affects such as these is normal for most people. Be alert to the short term…

bump - what a silly thing to have to say just to be able to find the thread again.

Excellent idea, I need to find a strong backpack now.

My wife took me shopping for new bike pants, I asked the standard question "Why? Do the pants make my *kitten* look fat?". The answer was actually along the lines of , "No, but the pants look like they belong on a fatter *kitten* than the one you now have" She is also insisting I go and buy new work out shorts and trakky…

Sorry to hear about your injury, depending on the type of soft tissue damage, you may be stuck for much heavy cardio work outside of swimming. Your legs are the biggest muscle group and make for the biggest cardio burns. But remember the saying, "you get fit in the gym and loose weight in the kitchen". Just watch what you…

I have signed up for the Sydney one through my local Fitness First gym. Should be fun.

Sausages, not for the calories, but for the salt, OMG the amount of salt in them is ridiculous. BTW< you can still have crumpets, just put the penut butter straight on the crumpet, it melts soooo good :-)

I will support the motion, but only if it stipulates a minimum diameter of the proposed "accessory, cigar". I will not support any motion that may allowing in Hipster like behaviour such as the smoking of small ring size cigars. Poor form I say! I suggest a minimum ring size of 42 to demonstrate that we have standards and…

Disposible razor, soap in the shower, I don't need a mirror, I know where my face starts and stops.

You are looking great, the best thing about crutches is the all day arm workout. I know I was on them for 3 months. Keep it up, you are doing great.

I agree, you have to get the body weight off the knees. I have only dropped about 40lbs and my knees are thanking me. They might even throw a party in another 70lbs. Doing some active leg strength work also helps, like the elliptical or bike etc. Cheers Pearsy

Congratulations on your persistence and self control in what sounds like a difficult situation. Cheers Pearsy

Hey Munro, I had the same issue, I choose to use the data from my Garmin 500 over the MFP figures. Same with gym work where I use a Polar HRM. I am guessing that uses an fairly basic equation to generate the calories figures for exercise, these are usually not too bad for short bursts but don't take into account the amount…

I bought a Polar FT60 as I was just getting into bike riding and wanted to be able to link it to a GPS unit I would buy later. The Polar chest strap is very comfy and it seems to do the job really well. PS take the damn watch part off before you start lifting Kettlebells otherwise your brand new HRM will get its face…

Great change, looking good and like you need a new wardrobe. Cheers M

Sweet, I have gained 5 and a bit just in time for a big group ride this sunday. I have another 10 or more to find.

Speaking only from experience from having struggled with similar issues, some points I use. Chicken rocks - but just buy chicken breasts without skin, one breast is about 250g (8oz) good protein, low other bits. I usually dry fry mine sliced with a touch of hickory smoked BBQ sauce for extra flavour. BBQ chickens are the…

Would chasing your daughters boyfriend with a shovel count? Are calorie counted by the depth of the hole or number of shovel loads?

Fluctuations are normal, my nutritionist described it as a leaf flutering down. Some flat the odd travel up, but a downward trend. It just depeds on what you eat, salt, protein etc, how much you 'waste' and how much water you are retaining. So long as the trend is down don't worry about it. I plateaued for almost 10 days…

Sausages, i have stopped eating sausages. Too much sodium for me it just means I have a steak instead. All good.

My usual BF used to be a a normal 'health' cereal like Uncle Toby's Lift, with Lite milk. Lots of sugar in that so I swapped back to Weetbix with Lite milk. I left the milk out the other day and so ended up making a chocolate protein shake and pouring that over my Weetbix. And it ROCKs, tastes great buggar all sugar and…

As an emasculated man married to fricken wonder woman, she makes over 6 times what I do , and I am an experienced IT Consultant Speak from real experience. It is an issue, but you deal with it. It is not easy, it does threaten your self esteem, add to that a weight and self confidence problem and you can have a hell of a…

Bah, you are all chicken. Honesty works. Slap her on the *kitten* and tell her that it is a lot more comfortable than it use to be and maybe she should go to the gym with you. It worked when my wife did it to me, why not fair turn around. You women are so sensitive.  Mind you, we have been together longer…
