I like this thread... This week my focus is on reaching the 1300-1500 calories per day goal that my nutritionist wants me at, faithfully getting up each morning and getting my runs in, and logging 20 run miles this week. This month my main focus is my running - getting through the next 5 weeks of my marathon training…

I love everything about exercise. I love the way it makes me feel, I love the way it makes me look, I love, most of all, that I CAN DO IT. Find that. And you'll be golden. In all seriousness though, try a bunch of different things - give things that you say "no way am I going to like that" a chance, give things that you…

Reframe it for yourself: You get to celebrate Easter, not food, this year. You get to celebrate all that has been given to us as a human family. You get to celebrate the gift of life - and how appropriate that you should be so close out from your surgery. You have the opportunity to embrace the spring, the return of the…

I've got a collection of 16 - none have changed... 7 months post-op and down 139lbs total. I think we're good :) - R

I wear a comfortable size 8 pant/dress. I am comfortable in a size small top/leggings. My ring size is down to a 6.5 from a 9!…

Keep your chin up. I know that for me, when the scale gets stuck, I need to change things up a bit.... Sometimes that looks like actually eating more, sometimes it means eating less for a few days, sometimes it means working harder, sometimes it means taking a couple of rest days... Best, Rebecca

Mine is open too. I have Celiac (so, gluten free) and I am 5 months post-VSG, so, you know, lots of weird food things happening in there :)

I love being up early... I'm in my home gym by 4:30am 6 days a week... But, I've never been accused of being sane. I do it because I know I won't work out after work (I work 10 hour days) and I need to move every day. I do it because I value the lives of the people around me and I know I'll rip their heads off if I don't…

Goals: -Log in every day and log honestly. -At least an hour of active movement every day. -Weigh less than I have lost. -Re-hike all 48 of New Hampshire's 4000' mountains...solo. (I've done them all at least once already, many solo... Now that I'm 100+ pounds lighter, I want to do them again) -Pay down old debt that has…

Thank you, Everyone!

So sorry for your loss. Don't beat yourself up too badly - they didn't remove your humanity when they did your WLS... Take care of yourself and grieve your brother. Don't worry about the weight loss, worry about staying healthy and sane - healthy and sane will pair with the weight coming off without you worrying about it…

Thank you all for your suggestions, reassurance, and support! I had lab tests and an ultrasound this morning and found out that I actually have a large gallbladder stone. I go in to have my gallbladder removed on Monday... Lucky me... Thanks! Rebecca

Congratulations on your decision to make a healthy choice for yourself. Remember that none of us are medical professionals (at least we are not YOUR medical professional) and thus cannot give you the same quality advice that your doc can. That being said: All things are possible. The surgery, be it VSG or RNY, is a tool.…

I would not recommend it. Your tastes are bound to change after surgery (weird, I know, but it happens) and you won't be able to eat a substantial amount of food anyway - not worth the time and effort ahead of surgery (plus, the frustration post-op of ending up throwing away all that food).

Good Luck! Walk walk walk -- it'll help the pain and gas pressure.

Some people are simply pre-programmed to be jerks. I did this for my health and because I know that I have already tried many many times to take the weight off without surgery and that, while I was healthy before surgery, I would not still be healthy in 10 years if I continued to be as heavy as I was. I want to be here to…

Thanks, All! Working hard and plugging away :)

Thank you :)

Congratulations! I had my VSG on 8/26 (this past Tuesday). I have been home since Thursday now. The only time that I have any pain is getting up and down from bed/chair... That being said, my surgeon told me that he had to work harder to get my stomach remnant out because it was bigger than most that he does (go big or go…

I'll join you! Just tell me what I have to do :)

This morning I put on a pair of pants that have never fit me (they are hand-me-downs and were too small when I got them two years ago). They fit perfectly and they are comfy!

Great job! Keep up the good work :)

Way too much sugar and not enough protein.... It'll get you every time. I know it seems counter-intuitive, because you get a boost after eating sugary treats, but it sets up a weird up and down pattern that can easily lead to a pattern of sugary snacks and sleepiness. Sugar is not evil and protein is not all-powerful --…

Love my ink :) I have 12 tats... An anklet of forget-me-nots on my ankle and foot A pair of dragonflies on my ankle A funky dragonfly piece on my calf A "traditional Americana" Mom & Dad on my upper arm (I call that one my "sailor" one) The words "There but for the grace of God go I" in a band on my upper arm Mountains…

Wow!!! You look incredible! Great job!

The only thing that will get you in shape for hiking is.... wait for it.... hiking. Obviously, taking weight off and increasing your stamina with cardio and weights will help, but the best way to get in shape for hiking is to just do it. Start off gentle and slow and increase you elevation gain/loss and distance as you get…

Awesome! Great job :)
