Yep, Spanish and English. I teach hs English, and the Spanish was just for fun ( like for travel...Spanish really enhanced my experience of Peru, for ex).

Thank you for sharing your story, for reminding me ( and obviously lots of others, too!) that this place is about getting healthy, whatever your version of healthy is. I'm glad you figured out what was causing your illness and are doing well now!

Awesome job! Maybe I will have to try turbofire! Your progress pics are convincing :)

I just got back from Peru and they drink a lot of coca leaf tea in the high altitudes. It's good, very herb-y tasting, and helped me acclimate. However, it's not legal in the US, so I don't guess I will be drinking any more of that! They also had this apple tea, though, which I am going to try to find.

I really love my Keen hiking boots. I'm in Peru right now, and I've hiked in them for hours every day over the past ten days. Very supportive, light, no break-in period. They are as comfortable as running shoes. Socks are also important, but expensive. My Wigwam ones were $13 a pair.

I was going to put something down, but after reading through all these replies, I realized that overall I've been lucky. To put something down seems silly now, in comparison to what a lot of people have been through.

Start working out and you will get HUNGRY! problem solved! But I would go to the doctor first, just to make sure everything is ok.
-
I totally agree! Every time I see people out running, I am reminded that I should go for a workout, too!

I had mine out at 19, 9 years ago, and all four were impacted. I remember a lot of gauze, but the pain wasn't that bad, and my mom didn't even let me have my prescription of percaset because evidently I started laughing uncontrollably after one dose. I just used advil and was fine. I felt a little weird after the…

"Call Me Maybe"..."all the other boys...try to chaaaaase me...but here's my number...call me maaaybe!" Also, check out the Harvard Baseball team doing a dance in the car to that song, priceless!

Oh wow, why would you NOT exercise. I know it makes me a lot hungrier, but I've gotten strong from exercise! I love the feeling when I dance for hours or run for miles. And more than that, it makes me feel better psychologically. I NEED to exercise or I feel mopey and sad. My social life is also built around exercise, as…

I tried something new for breakfast this morning, and it was pretty good and under 300 calories: I toasted a piece of whole wheat toast and topped it with 2 TBS ricotta cheese, 2 TBS walnuts, and 1/2 TBS honey.

One Direction is your profile pic ( I think? not entirely sure it's them).

Try roasting vegetables. I hate tomatoes raw, but roast them in salt and pepper and a bit of olive oil, and they become amazing. Same with cauliflower and carrots.

Like a lot of other people said, I've loved my Asics Gel running shoes. They are supportive, comfortable and hold up well.

When I was little I used to break out in an itchy rash every time I ate something with a certain artificial red dye in it. Since then I've avoided all artificial red dyes, so who knows if I'm still allergic. My mom is highly allergic to sulfites, so I wonder if I will develop it one day. Also, I'm not allergic, but I'm…

It takes a while to get the moves down, so just have fun! Mirrors are helpful to see if you're doing anything remotely close to what the instructor is doing. That said, I've been doing zumba for 3 years, and I've noticed that every instructor has his/her own style, so what's "right" in one class is not "right" in…

This is my favorite weight loss blog. This guy started at 505 and made it down to a healthy weight without surgery. He's amazing! http://losingweighteveryday.blogspot.com/ Like everyone said, find a doctor who will be supportive of you! You deserve it!

Yes, exercise has worked really well for me, and I lost 15 pounds initially, but now I need to change up my diet if I expect to lose any more. Just wondering what worked for others, food-wise. I know that every person's body is different, but if we all have thyroid issues, there we might have some things in common.
-
It really depends on the class, and how hard you work as to the results you will get from it. Some classes are really slow and laid back and I've barely broken a sweat, but the ones I go to on a regular basis kick my butt with all the squats, jumping, lunges, pushups, etc!

I love this video, too!

Awesome job! You don't even look like the same person!

I find that I get hot easily ( like a burning from the inside, not a reaction to an outside temperature) when my dose is too high. You should get your levels checked again. If you're having heart palpitations or are having trouble sleeping, then your dose is definitely too high.

Have you had your thyroid levels checked? That could be an issue. That, or you need to eat a bit more, make sure you're getting enough protein, etc.

If you have exercise-induced asthma as your doctor says, you really need to get a rescue inhaler. It's scary to have an attack, and it's easily preventable! :) Just take as needed, and maybe you never will need it, but you will have it if necessary.
