  • Level 1 Day 6 ticked off. I won't take a break during level 1 as my body seems fine with it and I've got the momentum. Happy weekend all.
  • I also loathe standard tea. Green tea with jasmine is the only green tea that I've taken to. I think it's Twinnings. And like many others have said, it's a good idea to make it weak to start with, especially if you're not keen on tea tannins - the bitter / drying element.
  • Hi, L1D5 complete. I upped my weights where I could. Might regret that tomorrow. Is everyone planning on going straight through, no breaks? If so, I'll go with the group.
  • I'm just about to do level 1 day 4. Am also going to do zumba dvd as I haven't done anything but 30DS for last 3 days. There is tightness in my arms - but in a good way. Not feeling anything in my legs, so might add in some extra lunges when I do days 6-10. I am having a one day break after day 5, I'll do only cardio on…
  • Hi. I did Level 1 day 3 this morning. Just found this group and am interested in what results we get. I tried it a few years back and I didn't lose weight, but noticed a welcome shape change after about 7 days...then had to stop a few days later. This time I will complete. I'm less interested in weight loss than toning and…
  • You can cut it down gradually until you're eating little / none. (Same thing works with salt.) You would probably want to be methodical about it - tracking it here for example. Not everyone is able to go cold turkey! I eat Sula sugar free sweets - one or two a day. That wouldn't suit everyone, but it works for me.
  • Creamed spinach - for steak or chicken Fried greens with garlic and chilli (and soy sauce) for asian dishes Little gem lettuces, quartered lengthways and tossed in a dressing Small white beans cooked with diced veg / bacon / a little chorizo - good with white fish or chicken I serve hummus with kebabs and a salad of diced…
  • 16 days is really impressive and some experts reckon you're through the worst of your physical addiction It's not surprising that many of us take to food - another oral comfort, but as you don't want to gain any more weight, think about what things you like that are good for you can take fill the habit gap. People tend to…
  • Maybe you shoud consider an Intermittant Fast technique? That way you could be 'good' and (moderately) enjoy the weekend and you wouldn't be saddled with negative feelings that might end up derailing you entirely. There are people in this community who know a lot about the different techniques, so search for IF. Lots of…
  • Ham hocks are quite fatty, so you'll be eating that along with the beans and water. To make it lower in calories / fat, if that's what you want, ask you mum to use enough water to cover the beans generously, even when it's finished cooking. Then cool it, put it in the fridge and the fat will solidify on the top and can be…
  • If you have a food processor.... Slice 2 / 3 ripe bananas into coins. Freeze. When you're ready to eat it, put the frozen pieces in fp bowl with 1/2 vanilla extract, a dollop of plain yogurt, 1 tbsp maple (or golden, same cals) and blitz til smooth. It's like REALLY GOOD banana ice cream. This amount serves 2. There are…
  • Avocado, nuts, some cooked chicken. Or all of them with some leaves and olive oil.
  • My goal is 144, although having lost 16lbs and gotten down to 151 I'm pretty happy in clothes. At 170 I was overweight and had a bad double chin and was carrying lots of weight on my stomach and thighs. I have a small frame and am an apple shape, so 144 is a good weight for me, but if I wanted to be really trim, I could…
  • I have lost very well on this 'diet' although I now no longer really consider it a diet and have always bent a few rules - i drink wine, i allow avocados and some other stuff that's not on his list. But I use MFP to track my cals and exercise. I think you're right to say that the you end up with a good way to eat for life.…
  • Oat cakes and a mini pot of hummus and some raw veggies. Greek salad - take in a lunchbox Half a tin of chickpeas (or cannellini beans), tuna and onion salad.
  • You're quite right - now IS a good time to treat yourself well. Comfort eating and slouching around will make you feel worse and then you're on a downward spiral. When I broke up with a boyfriend I put a playlist of 'strong, I will get over this' music together and exercised to it and it made me feel much more robust and…
  • Probably not. It's very difficult. People have to want change AND have the motivation to do something about it. Lots of people don't have the latter and, honestly, not everyone sincerely wants the former, despite what they say. It really has to come from within. Of course you could try talking to them, but even if you get…
  • I made cauliflower couscous this week with a chicken and veg tagine. It's almost impossible to tell the difference. Blitz the cauli to couscous size in a food processor, add a drizzle of water to it, then microwave for 5 mins with 1 stir. Mix in a little salt and ground cumin and serve it with any tagine, fresh chopped…
  • I eat a sugar-free Werther's Original. Not ideal and I wouldn't eat too many of them, but one lasts a long time and the flavour satisfies my desire for something sweet.
  • It worked for me. I have lost 13lb and my other half has lost slighty more in about 8 weeks. We were both at the upper end of the healthy weight BMI. While I agree it has a silly / faddy name, it is a programme that encourages long-term healthy eating. I haven't followed it to the letter, but use the basic guiding…
  • Jazz, they won the Miss World of the apple taste-beauty competition this year and they are AMAZING. I pay a big premium for them. They're a cross between Braeburn and Royal Gala. They're better from NZ than from Chile IMHO.
  • By being older / shorter / lighter to start with. Or not exercising much. I eat 1200-ish and I find it very do-able, but I eat very heathy foods and I cook / make nearly everything from scratch. So I might have Greek yogurt and fruit, or Bircher Muesli, or smoked salmon and scrambled eggs for breakfast. Homemade soup, or…
  • I'd say walking for 45 mins, especially if you can afford the time, but most important is that you enjoy it. If you're jogging and thinking I HATE THIS I HATE THIS, you're more likely to give up. If you're walking and thinking I CAN DO MORE, that is briliant. Eventually, this sort of mindset will get you fit and you'll…
  • It's the base, even if it's thin, it's lots of calories. Even if you make your own from scratch with a healthy tomato sauce and thin-ish slices of mozzarella. So, it's one to save up calories / exercise for and enjoy.
  • Green beans cooked and tossed in a little butter with toasted, flaked almonds - good with fish Zuchinni / courgette cut into french frie shape and roasted in oil Grated raw carrot and chopped avocado tossed with a little lemon or lime juice and sesame oil with sesame seeds - with Asian food Maybe you'd prefer a coleslaw to…
  • Definitely eating low carb. Can't believe how this has changed my appetite. I no longer do that strange thing of flinging the cupboard or fridge door open and just scanning it for SOMETHING, although never sure what. Kicking out simple carbohydrates has cured me.
  • And you'll save some money. You could buy a few freezer pots and start freezing your healthier, tastier creations, if time is the issue.
  • Yes and No. Not for me, you're supposed to sit and listen (often with eyes closed) to it everyday and - can't quite remember - but it's about 45 minutes long. Time better spent (1) doing exercise (2) cooking healthy food? Much of his philosophy is about re-engaging with your true hunger - eat when you're properly hungry…
  • Go low carb for 4 days. Have a meat course and veg but no potatoes, bread, rice. If you must have something sweet, share it and just have a few spoonfuls. You can still have a delicious meal, you'll still be full. It might be hard at a street party / buffet kind of thing, but chicken, salads are tasty - just don't stand…
