I'm on day 8 of cycle 1 and I'm really happy with it. I'm eating lots of vegetables and salad. I really love yogurt. Have started to like green tea again. I'm not hungry and my taste buds seem improved. I've written myself a list of lunches and dinners to make it easier as it helps to plan in advance. I'm losing very…

Vodka, bacardi and gin and tonic are low calorie IF you're drinking pub measures. The old 25ml (just under 2 tablespoons) measure will be 50 calories for any spirit. But most pubs now sell 35ml measures which is roughly 75 and in a party situation, most people would pour twice that. A glass of 175ml dry wine will be about…

I once weighed myself in Boots and was horrified. It was WAY off my own / WW scale. In the wrong direction. Never did it again. I've also had the same problem with a similar scale at my gym. Probably best to stick to what you know - and not too often at that.

Green, red and yellow all have coconut milk in them, the difference is in the spicing and heat. I think some places sell a jungle curry which doesn't seem as rich - but it's often pretty hot and not as nice as the coconut ones. I think a veg curry with steamed rice isn't too bad - especially if you avoid all the deep-fried…

You're safe to enjoy as much as you can afford. Sunflower oil is cheaper and will also do the job!

Maybe I'm the only one, but if my resolve is flagging, I go try clothes on. It get's me back on track. I guess I'm more of a stick than a carrot person.

If a 180cal breakfast that I liked kept me full til lunch, I'd keep on eating it. You're obviously keeping a careful eye on your macros.

No. Never. All my bads are in social situations. When I'm on my own, I'm really happy to eat sensibly, just find it really hard to do my own thing when I'm in a jolly group situation. Never really thought about this before.

Cheese naan! Just when you thought they couldn't think of more fattening foods. Yes, it's salad for you today, but that debit / credit thing is the only way I can stick to the plan and have a life.

Hi there You might find it easier to break this question into bite-size chunks. And maybe you can tell us a bit about what you like to eat and what kitchen facilities you have access to. It'll also help to say where you live.

If you've got to prep it all tonight then fish or shellfish is a great idea. Spaghetti alla vongole would be terrific. Or a shrimp risotto. I've made melanzane alla parmigiana which mfp tells me is 285 cals in all. Also have a little home-made bread to go with that. And as it's Italian, I've made a light tiramisu with…

It is slow for most of us, but it is so, so worth it. I wonder if you're being a little too strict with yourself. Some can deal with strict deprivation, but most can't. I work treats into my daily allowance, have the odd cheat day and exercise a bit harder for some wine at the weekend. It's very bearable and while I'm not…

I go for a starter chicken tikka, a vegetable side dish (spinach bhaji) as my meal, then just steal tiny bits of husband / friend's food. Even though I feel greedy when I'm looking at the menu, I restrain myself and never regret it afterwards because I hate that really stuffed post-indian feeling. As for logging it, I'd…

If you're concerned about the number of calories in fruit, but don't want to cut back, fresh raspberries, strawberries, blueberries and blackberries are all very low in calories and full of micronutrients. Other good options are half a pink grapefruit (30), a kiwi fruit (30), tangerines (20), fresh figs (20) and most…

I buy a vanilla ice cream that's about 100 cals a scoop and have it in a cone (about 10 cals) so it lasts.

Do a big fat work out and eat very light for the rest of the day.
-
Have a look online for a kale chips recipe - I tried them last week and they're really delicious. You can make a portion for under 50 cals if you use spray oil. I'm sure there's lots of good green veg nutrients in them too.

I think I'm just going to give up weighing for similar reasons - or just do it monthly. My body is changing and my weight isn't. Maybe there should be a measuring group on MFP?

I've seen recipes where they're under 100 calories per cake, BUT they'll be high GI (so they won't satisfy you) and if you can't resist eating more than one, they're definitely not low cal.

m and s choc mousses are great - 90 cals Mini mars bar 65 cals, 2 finger kitkat - 100cals Ambrosia low fat rice and custard pots are about 120 - you could even grate a little dark chocolate on them and still be under 200 Most chocolate bars are under 200 - a flake is 170.

That's really interesting. Will you report on how it goes?

Have you tried a zumba class? It's really popular, partly because it's so enjoyable it doesn't feel quite like exercise.

Is this run by the egg marketing board! I like 'em, but not that much. It doesn't really work for my way of eating - but I can see it would be good for some people.

It freezes really well - and I just toast the slices from frozen. The recipe that I use is this one and if you read the comments you'll see that some people make a few adjustments to make a brown / wholewheat version. I usually make it with 50 /50 white and brown and chuck a handful of mixed seeds in at the start. I also…

That's fantastic. Have you tried the 30 day shred dvd? It's only 20 minutes, it's too intense for you to get bored and then it's over. You feel your body toning after a few days.

I'm 5 9 and a 1/2. My goal is 144. I would love to be 144, but I do know that I wasn't particularly happy with my size when I was. I looked good in clothes but not naked. The thing is, I have a very small frame and so at 144 I was still fatty, especially around the middle. Maybe when you get to goal, you could post a…

I make all my own bread. It costs as little as 50p a loaf including oven, more if I use organic flour or add seeds. It is just gorgeous and much nicer than even the posh baker's stuff. I slice it and freeze it to stop me eating half a loaf in one go. 50p is about 75 cents.

Thank you - probably all I can manage to start with!

I'm so glad I read this. I think I had let the scale take my motivation away. I wasn't going to exercise today (and haven't for the last two either) and after reading your tips, I went and put my gym kit on and did the shred and zumba cardio party. And of course I'm so glad that I did. Thanks.
