bumping this up in case anyone has any ideas (especially as now probably waking up in different time zones)...

I often net below 1200, but that is on days when I do an almost two hour workout and have burned 800 or so calories. My calorie goal is 1450 without exercise, so I eat those, plus some of my exercise calories back, but I don't eat all of them back simply because I am full and eat very healthy - I suppose I could eat them…

I used to suffer from shin splints when I ran, making it unbearable for me to run. For me, it was definitely the shows - after I went to a proper running shop where they have you run on the treadmill and find the right shoes for you they went away completely. Even if you aren't running, it might be worth investing in a…

I am 30, have lost 20lbs and have another 20lbs to go. I also spend my day sitting in an office, but I cycle to work, do a morning exercise group before work 3 days a week, and run on the weekends. Sometimes it is hard to fit it all in, but it seems to be working so far (although it is currently below freezing here, which…

Can you share the recipes for these two? I am trying to find a good protein bar recipe for midmorning snacks. They are so expensive to buy!

Bump - love the quich and breakfast cookie!

I find it is such good encouragement to keep going when people notice. I had someone tell me this morning I was looking very slim - it made my day!

You could get a 1/4 or a 1/2 a grilled chicken with one or two sides - just don't choose chips, and maybe not the coleslaw! Their minted peas are good, as are the black beans.

I love the one below. I also make a lot of risottos, because they come out very creamy but without any dairy. And you can basicly use whatever you have left in the fridge. Sweet and Sour Eggplant, Tomatoes and Chickpeas This Lebanese dish is all about summer. Pomegranate molasses makes it both sweet and sour; you can find…

These look awesome - thanks for sharing!

1. Ran 5 miles this morning on my own, which is the longest I have run in over 2 years. 2. When I came back, boyfriend had cleaned and hoovered the bedroom. 3. I watched the last 2 episodes of season 4 of 24.

Thanks for all the great ideas! I'll now feel better about going to the cinema and not trying to steal the boyfriend's popcorn. I love the idea of cherrios, carrot sticks, Boots stuff, fruit, etc. I know it's only two hours and I wouldn't normally be bothered about that, but if the person sitting next to me is eating…

Find something without cheese or sour cream - it might be hard, and you may need to ask them to modify the dish (eg, extra salsa/beans instead of cheese). mmmm...thinking about enchiladas with beans and veggies...

Hiya, feel free to add me. I live in London. I've really gotten into this site and log in every day and track everything - it really helps and is a big motivator (like today, I was in two minds about going out for a run, and thinking about adding the exercise on here made me go for it).

PHEW. Went further and longer than I planned and managed 5 miles in 50 minutes. The furthest I have run in over 2 years. For some reason, being on my own made me go further, as each time I reached my goal, I told myself to keep going for another 3 minutes, which added up to 20 minutes longer than what I had set out to do.…

Thanks for the suggestions everyone, I especially like the idea of blueberries! I thought about bringing my own popcorn, but that might be a bit awkward to sneak in. Any other suggestions out there? Thanks!

Great job! That is amazing! I haven't had a drink since 6 January - had been just planning to do a dry January but I have felt so good, healthy and clear headed that I don't want to go back to it in February. The hard thing is my friends who say that I have now become boring because I don't want to go out drinking.
-
If you are interested in trying it, maybe give it a go for about 10-20 days and see how it makes you feel. I was surprised at how easy it was, and how good I have felt. But note that people I have known who have have done the same (my workout group have all done it together) had headaches for the first 3 or so days. Make…

For a detox, I have cut out diary and gluten (along with sugar, caffeine and alcohol) for January. I have felt great - more energy, never bloated, sleeping well, better looking skin, etc. When January comes to an end I think I will go back to having some wheat (I really like pasta, but the GF pasta has been ok), but…

I used to use MetRX chocolate shakes - they came already mixed in individual packets, which was great. Unfortunately, Holland and Barrett discontinued stocking them, and so I haven't found them since. My trainer has said that Reflex is a good clean protein powder, but I haven't tried it yet.

I definitely get cranky and bad tempered when I haven't eaten. Sometimes I notice this before I get hungry and it makes me realise I need to eat. For the last month or so I have been in a great mood, which I think can partly be put down to a new eating and exercise regime. For me, it is involved no alcohol, sugar or…

I used to hate running and found it very uncomfortable and painful until I bought proper running shoes. I still didn't enjoy it until I forced myself to do it for a while, and lost weight - the more you've lost, the easier running becomes. And now I actually enjoy it. So if you want to give it a go, definitely invest in…

If the problem is motivation, try getting a heart rate monitor that calculates the calories you have burned. That might help to show you a tangible benefit. And sometimes it is just a matter of forcing yourself to do it - before I go for a run, I always have an inner dialogue about whether I should run, or keep sitting on…

If you haven't really exercised before, you will probably find it difficult to start. Don't feel like you need to jump head first into it - start easy, like going for a 20 minute walk. Then set yourself small goals, like to walk the same distance but in a faster time, or to add in a few 30 second runs into your walk. If…

Also, I don't know where you live, but in the UK all the major supermarkets have "free from" ranges, and in the US there are a lot of options at places like Whole Foods. You can also google restaurants that do GF options, and many are starting to label them and otherwise accomodate. It is a bit of a process getting…

I gave up wheat/gluten for January and at first I found it difficult, but once you get into the routine it is easy. The main thing for me was to ensure I always had plenty of fresh food at home, so, step one, stock up on the kinds of things you can eat: fruit, vegetables, meats, etc. If you are vegetarian, it is a bit…
