  • I started last week and managed 3 runs before injury. Try and make sure you stretch before and after you run to avoid injury! That was the pace I was going at but thought I would spin it up to a faster pace for a bit and pulled a muscle. Good luck.
  • Thanks. I want to do a 10k run for charity. I'll keep the speed down at 4.8-5mph and just keep increasing the time I run for when I get back to it next week. If I can end up running the whole 10k then I will think about increasing the speed but I need the distance first. Wish I had done that to start with now! I was…
  • Thanks for posting. Well done. I started running last week on the treadmill. I picked up an injury on my third run. I was managing 35 min runs by then. I managed to get an adductor strain and have now not run for 5 days. What kind of things was the trainer suggesting you change in your form?
  • You look GREAT!!!!!!!!! :drinker:
  • Well done. Got to my goal weight and started to run last week. Picked up an injury on my third run  Hope to run a 5k once a week when I get back to it. Thanks for posting and the inspiration to keep going!
  • Well done. Think of all the effort it has taken you to train and prepare for this! Still training for my first. Thanks for posting :drinker:
  • The cheapest ones in the shop. I am frugal :grumble:
  • I sit an iPad next to the treadmill. That seems to work for me. Not sure what I'm going to do about the tunes when I start running on a road.
  • Went back and added a fitness goal to my profile. Thanks for the kick in the pants!
  • That is FANTASTIC!!! Well done. Just started running myself this week so I know how hard this is. Keep going, The 10k awaits!
  • Good advice. I will rest it a couple of days. I have tried rubbing Arnica gell on it at the moment. I think everything was good and I did my 35min run then thoguht I would do a 3 min sprint at the end at 6.2mph. Big mistake. Not going to do that again. Next time slow and steady at a fixed pace for the full work out and I…
  • I just started training on the treadmill at the moment. I do a 3-5 min walk to warm up, a 30-35min run at a steady pace, then a 3-5 min at the end to cool down. If you are running and walking you will be both burning calories and build some muscle. My legs are very sore which feels like I have worked them out. I never got…
  • Happy birthday. You are doing great an 2 lbs a week is a great rate to drop.
  • Well done you. Thanks for posting. Just started running and this is very inspiring
  • Shared on facebook. Thanks for posting. Very inspirational wee man!
  • I started to run this week. I downloaded a c25k podcast but thought I would just jump in. Wednesday I managed 2 miles, a walk for 0.3 miles and a fast run for the final 0.7 miles. Today I just ran for a full 35mins with a 3min warm up and warm down walk either side but this was at a slower pace. My legs are now very sore.…
  • "Keep calm and follow on"
  • I just got some socks that help that kind of thing. Not tried them out yet but have a look out for something similar?
  • I approve. You look FANTASTIC. Very "Glasgow Rangers". It reminds me to get my flags out to wind up the Celtc fans over the road from me. God Save The Queen!
  • I gave up cola and chocolate. And I love chocolate!!!! I also gave up alcohol except special events. I have drank twice in the last 5 months. I finally gave up on accepting what I was. I am now a healthy BMI, eat much better and have a sharper mind.
  • I have a rescue dog. He was a stray and had been abused and was very scared when I got him. I have spent loads of time trying to build up his confidence and make him feel secure. I give him a row when he does something wrong and he goes back into his shell. Never had a problem in controlling him just keeping him happy and…
  • I love large brains
  • I can't post pics but here is a video of superdog in the snow. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TUaQXjDGmK4&feature=relmfu
  • Well done and thanks for posting. I am also 40+ and just managed to drop to a normal BMI. Running is my next step but I have found it hard to get the motivation to start.
  • I have had 1 drink since 2nd of January 2012. Being off it so long has caused most of my weight loss. I also feel sharper at work. I have also saved loads of money but I am not going out as often.
  • I started out with 1 goal. To get to a BMI below 25. I made it and now that has turned into 3 goals. 1) Keep my BMI below 25 2) Reduce my Body Fat to 20% 3) Run for a full 5k ohhh and one other small one. Hit 200 days without chocolate or soda. I think I can do it. The BF% is the hard one though.
  • Dogs are great. The worst thing my dog would do to you is pee on you. I'm sorry you seem to have a fear of dogs.
  • Give it a go. Everyone is different. For me the soda was easy. I used it as a mixer with JD and the odd 500ml bottle during the day. The alcohol took a bit of will power to stay off. The chocolate has been BRUTAL. The thing for me has been staying off it has made me think about my diet over all. I think when I drank I…
  • YAY!!!! It's not all about weight. That's just a measure of gravity. BF% is a great way to look at it. If you are doing the right things to get fitter your weight might not come off but your body will. Good for you! :drinker:
