Not a nutritionist, but... If whole beans/lentils/soy still don't agree with you after months of trying, I really doubt that consuming protein powders made from the same ingredients would help. I think the suggestion to research and buy humanely raised meat or eggs is a better one. Hope you feel better soon.

It doesn't sound that weird to me. As we keep logging various foods and activities over time, and it sinks in how much each food item really costs, we can "budget" our calories more wisely without having to think about it as much.

Happened to me too. I think it's just that our taste buds have readjusted to our new diets. In the long run, I don't see it as a problem, though I do find it very annoying to have a cheat day and discover that I don't actually WANT anything. ;)

I know everybody handles it differently, but if trading in my boobs gets me a body that's stronger and more beautiful in every other way, well, I'm okay with that. :)

I actually had a military recruiter recommend something like this to me when I was considering my options in high school. (It was like 15 years ago, so I don't know if it's exactly the same, but it looks familiar.) Being a gullible teenager, I tried it. I was constantly hungry during the diet phase, so I just ended up…

Tossup between Spaceballs and Men in Tights, but I liked Life Stinks too. Apparently I have no taste.

Fiction writer. Though I'm hoping I won't have to "start my life over" for that.

If I'm hungry late in the evening, I eat a healthy snack and log it under the next day's breakfast... but I'm bad like that. ;)

Way to take charge!

I'd say enjoy your coffee... and take the stairs or walk an extra block to make up for the calorie hit. ;) I'm REALLY not a fan of energy drinks, though, so your mileage may vary.

If you don't usually work out that hard for that long, then it might just be that the "water weight" is due to your body healing and adjusting. Eat well, sleep well, and don't worry about the scale for a few days. Congrats on completing your first 10K!

Welcome. :) This might sound kind of weird, but... my job is my main source of motivation. I work in sanitation and was recently rotated onto a trash collection route. It's physically demanding work, and as a woman doing a "non-traditional" job, I feel some pressure to prove I can keep up with my co-workers. (For the…

The way I see it, SEVENTY days (ten weeks) of sticking to it and making good choices can't be erased by ONE "bad day". Don't beat yourself up over it. :flowerforyou: Was there anything in particular that triggered the impulsiveness? Is it something you can plan for or avoid next time?

When my boss wanted to order me work clothes, but they didn't make womens' jeans in my size. :embarassed:

I love the "paid workout" strategy! Mind if I borrow it too?

Inspiring! :flowerforyou:

Yeah, last time I went for a run, actually. Fortunately my "iPod" equivalent is a cheap Straight Talk phone that charges in about 30 minutes. I just caught up on my blog reading and updated my food diary while I waited. (That day's calorie count was an additional motivator, since I had to do some exercise to afford…

I concur that you probably need to eat more. You can't build lean muscle if you're starving yourself! According to the measurements you gave, your BMI is actually within the normal (not overweight) range. It sounds like your goal is building muscle mass and definition, so I question whether you should even bother worrying…

OK, I'm back. I cooked my Miracle "Noodles" according to package directions and dumped them in a bowl of coconut-ginger soup. They don't have much flavor of their own, and they have a texture like unflavored gummy worms. It's tolerable, but if you're expecting spaghetti-like noodles you're probably going to be horrified.…

I think I've seen something similar at a local health food store. ... What the heck, I haven't tried anything new lately. Back in a bit.

Sorry, I don't have a direct substitute for condensed soup. It would depend on what else is in the recipe. Have you looked at the "Healthy Request" version of CoMS, though? According to Campbell's website, it has about half the sodium and lower fat.

You could try adding a bit of protein or fat to the fruits and veggies. Peanut butter on apple slices, hummus with veggie sticks, that sort of thing. Or add a cheese stick/string cheese or a handful of nuts to your snack. Just be careful with serving sizes on your toppings.

I guess I'd have to side with the "bad for you" crowd. Drinks that contain aspartame don't sit well in my stomach; it's not quite nausea, but it just feels wrong. The only thing that relieves it is EATING something... so why not just have a small cup of full-calorie soda, enjoy it more, and skip the discomfort? To…

Argh! The Internet keeps eating my posts. Trying again... As MrDude pointed out, IMHO it's normal for weight to fluctuate by a pound or two on any given day just due to input and output (eating, drinking, nursing, exercising, etc.). May I ask how frequently you're weighing in, and if it's at the same time of day? I'd…
