Check out treadmilldoctor.com - in particular, there is a "best buy" section that breaks down the best value for various models by price range. http://www.treadmilldoctor.com/BestBuyAwards-Treadmill?category=2667 Depending on what you want to spend, this will give you some guidance and lots of reviews. Good luck!

My endo has told me that ketones are common when eating a lower carb, higher protein diet. It's how diets like Atkins work - they want you to burn fat instead of sugars. When I first started losing weight I had a few ketones at the doctor's office during my check up. He wasn't overly concerned, but still made note. That…

I heard the same thing. But then again I heard that people go sick using P90X and I never had a problem. Don't let it concern you, just take things slow and realize that programs like Insanity are designed to be tough. Baby steps! Good luck!!

I actually just found this article that is pretty helpful. __________________________________________________________________________________________ Weight Gain with Exercise? Why does my weight go up when I exercise more frequently? Article By: William Sukala, MS, CSCS A: Weight gain with exercise may be disheartening.…

I'm in the same boat. I actually was down to my lowest weight at the end of November/early December with about 24 lbs lost. Since then, I've joined the gym and have been going 4-5 times per week and primarily doing cardio. However, despite this, I have gained about 3-4 lbs back. And, I usually hear the old "muscle weighs…

Diabetes is a completely manageable disease if you have the right attitude. And, gaining weight by lowering your A1Cs is typical but not a given. I dropped my A1C from 7.5 in May to 6.4 in October and lost nearly 20 lbs in that time frame. It's not easy, but it can be done. The hardest thing is watching those lows...they…

I'm a type 1 as well - I was diagnosed at the age of 11. I too have struggled with my weight, though thankfully not terribly. My biggest issue was I was feeding my insulin for quite some time. I started a new regimen thanks to my new endo and off evil NPH and on Novolog/Levemir which has done wonders for my ability to…

Small goals have been working for me too! Sometimes they are completely arbitrary like "I want my BMI to equal X so I need to lose 2 lbs" or something more concrete like "I want to get into the next 10 bracket, which is only 3.6 lbs away". It's good practice for me (not that I would recommend this to everyone) that I weigh…

I'm a type 1 as well, and I've lost about 24 lbs so far! The biggest thing that MFP offers is an easy way to track what I'm eating - particularly with carbs (which you have to monitor anyway for your insulin dosing) and with calories. What's important is to be realistic with what you can lose and how quickly you can lose…

I've never really been able to see mine which is rather disappointing. Even at my thinnest they were always hiding. Hmpf! :-(
