  • bump for later - these sound delicious
  • You say you are eating clean and healthy, but are you eating enough? If you are burning that many calories at the gym, you have to be sure you are eating a good amount during the day. I find for myself that if I don't eat enough to refuel my body, my body refuses to let go of any weight. The minute I start "reassuring" my…
  • For cardio, you could try punching exercises. Sit in a chair and throw all kinds of different punches, increasing speed as you go for a certain period of time. You know, straight ahead, cross punch, over your head, speed bag, upper cuts, etc. These can really get your heart rate up without having to use your legs or knees.…
  • My feet are killing me during some of the Insanity routines. I have never experienced this before. I am so glad to have found this post. My shoes are "newer" but after a round of Turbo Fire and half of Insanity, maybe it is time to get a new pair. Do they really wear out this quickly? Does anyone know of a good shoe I…
  • I finished Turbo Fire about a month ago. I lost 20 lbs in just over three months and was able to get down to my smallest weight ever! And it was SO MUCH FUN!!!!!! I have since moved onto Insanity and am half way through. I plan on doing another round of Turbo Fire though as soon as I am done. I love both these workouts and…
  • I used to get those a lot and was told by my doctor that it was probably a lack of potassium. I increased that and added extra calcium to my diet too (started drinking OJ fortified with extra calcium) and they went away completely. I wish I could tell you the logic behind it all, but I really don't know. I just know it…
  • Thanks for all the help. Just knowing that I am not the only one getting up at that hour AND doing Insanity at that INSANE hour will be motivation. :-) I think I will start small, as recommended. I was planning on 5am or earlier, but tomorrow I may try something a little later and work backwards. I am just NOT a morning…
  • I imagine every workout is different for every person. I run 5K here at home on a regular basis, but always get really sore hip, knee, and ankle joints afterwards. I do Insanity in my carpeted basement and have yet to experience the same pain. Insanity is for athletes, or for those who would like to become athletes. It…
  • Please tell me how you can get up so early to exercise!!!!!??????? My schedule is about to get really crazy next week now that school is back in session. I think I will have no option but to get up at 5am or so and do my workout. I have tried this before and failed miserably. The thought of rolling out of bed when it is…
  • I have to reply, only because you remind me so much of myself last year. I am 5'3" and after I had my last baby and got rid of the initial weight, I was still about 140 lbs. I tried Jillian Michaels and did it for about four months, eating about 1200 calories a day. I was able to lose 8 lbs fairly quickly (more baby weight…
  • Insanity is pretty intense. I started it right after TF and found I was starting it a bit burned out. I ended up taking a couple of days off to recharge. I didn't take a full week - the last week of TF is not too bad, so I didn't feel I needed a whole week, but a few days helped. Get ready to really up the foot intake…
  • Have you considered Turbo Fire? If you do, I guarantee you will never be bored again! You will also get better results (if you eat well and you eat enough to keep up the energy throughout the workouts. You will have to EAT - trust me!) I did the 30DS for about four months after my last baby and was able to tone up and lose…

  • The 30 DS routines are about 20 minutes each. You alternate between strength training and cardio. The strength training part is pretty good, especially if you are using heavier weights. I alternate between 5 lbs and 7 lbs depending on the exercise. The cardio is okay, but not as intense as other programs. Hope that helps!…
  • I get terrible cramping in my calves and feet when I am low on potassium and calcium. If I drink a glass or two of that orange juice with calcium added and have at least half a banana, I seem to do a lot better. Good luck with Insanity! I am on my recovery week and glad for the rest!
  • My first was a c-section. I have had other children since and every time my stomach was stretched further and further, leaving a terrible "shelf." The skin on my stomach hung over the incision by at least an inch if not more. I was told that only a tummy tuck would give me the flat abs I was looking for. Last Christmas I…
  • I just finished Turbo Fire and really enjoyed it. This is a combo of cardio and HIIT. I was able to lose about 20 lbs in three months. It was a lot of fun - combination of dance, aerobics, and kickboxing - and it was the fun part that made me stick with it. I actually started to enjoy working out. It is intense (hence the…
  • You need two. The size of weight will depend on you. I think a lot of people start out using three pounds. That was a bit light for me so I went up to five, then seven. Sometimes I will go back and forth between the two in one workout, depending on how taxing the exercise is! Good luck!
  • Eat the 2000 and the weight will melt off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I promise!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was recently in your very same position. I am 5'3", 115 lbs when I started Insanity 4 weeks ago. I actually gained 7+ pounds and an inch or so around my waist, because I was used to a less vigorous exercise program and was only eating…
  • Just curious, but WHY do we hold onto water when switching exercise programs?
  • Thanks to everyone for all their advice. This is very encouraging. So....I am going to try to track my food a little better. I am a huge picker, so that makes it really hard to track what I eat. I assume though that I should be eating more than I did with TF? Also, with Insanity is 40% protein, 40% carb, 20% fat a good…
  • Have you looked into Turbofire at all? I did all of Jillian Michaels DVDs but got really bored and although I toned up, I only lost about 8 pounds over three months. I tried Turbofire and lost 20 lbs in the same amount of time. My abs and arms are super toned now too, which was a nice surprise! The moves are a bit…
  • Thanks for all the advice! I will continue barefoot for now. I will re-evaluate once the toe is better healed. I did ballet and modern dance for years and then switched over to running and aerobics, so all this barefoot brings me back to my dancing days. I do have an appointment to see a doctor in a week. I am not in much…
  • My first was a c-section, so I know what you mean about it being the hardest place to lose. Ever since that surgery, I have had a not-so-lovely "flap" above the incision. I found that cardio really helped me to get rid of the excess belly weight. I actually just finished a 12 week turbofire program that was VERY helpful in…

  • These are all great ideas! Thank you so much!
  • Thanks! I love sweet potatoes....my husband, however, is not a fan. Any other thoughts?
  • I have nine kids - but I only exercised regularly during 2 of those pregnancies. I found that these pregnancies were far, far easier, the labor and delivery a breeze, and the weight melted off MUCH, MUCH more quickly. I was told by my midwife that cardio is great for the baby - gives him/her an extra oxygen boost during…
  • Thank you!!! Very clear, simple explanation.
  • I am terrible at tracking my food properly, but I think I am probably eating anywhere from 2200-2800 calories a day. I am nursing an eight month old baby (she just started eating solids, but only once a day) so I am eating more because of that. Should I lower or increase my calories do you think? I am 5'3 and 120 lbs. My…
  • I have a few beers every night with my husband and still have managed to lose most of my baby weight. Not much weight left on my abs either, but I am working out pretty intensely every day. I think the belly fat/beer thing must be a myth - or at least it is not the case with everybody. Just remember, you have to find a…
  • I'd have to vote for TurboFire, but then again, I have never tried P90X. I just started week 9 of TurboFire and (at 5'3") have gone from 135 lbs to 120 lbs. Like you, I am trying to get rid of those last stubborn 20 lbs. I only have 5 to go now! The weight literally melted off, and my arms, legs and abs are surprisingly…
