  • Good suggestion as i did my stride length in the house, so it may help to do a longer test as you suggest, thank you
  • I am 195lb and 5' 4" so my setting in MFP is correct for Sendentary. Before I had a couple of knee replacements I lost 2 stone averaging 1.5 pounds a weeek based on 1240 but eating back my exercise calories. The exercise calories in MFP would normally be about 500 or 1200 if playing golf. Within Fitbit if I play golf and…
  • Just a couple of days with my fitbit please add me for fitbit friend //www.fitbit.com/user/4QPSJF
  • Have sent you a friend request, as I am also the same age, log regularly and just getting back into it after a relaxing summer. Anyone else looking for friends feel free to add me as well
  • I have had the Polar FT7 for a couple of years. It is comfortable, easy to use and accurate. I have recently changed the batteries without problem in the chest strap and watch for the first time. Also most cardio gym equipment will pick up the heart rate from the chest strap.
  • Had a review of my Gym program today. Added In some weights, strength and core work. Only one session but my body feels like I have had a good workout today. Recommend anyone not sure about exercise routine to get advice. I can now see the benefit and wished I had done so earlier.
  • I use the local authority Gym membership. £30 and you have a choice of 4 Gyms, 2 Swimming Pools in the local area. Also free admission to any classes. I use the nearest Gym not the most modern but has everything you need, benefit being it is only 2 minutes drive away, so very convenient. I found if you have to travel then…
  • I have noticed that a lot of the larger chain restaurants now add the calories to the menu. Smaller establishments with ever changing menu's would find it difficult to keep adding the calorie values each day. I think that you can generally work out what the main ingredients add up to.
  • Try using a "wrap", you can make up the night before. For ideas look at "Hairy Dieters" recipe for Tuna wrap - only 300 cals as well and very filling.
  • Great book, lots of ideas and in particular I liked the Salmon recipe which has a great sauce. Also tried it on several friends who could not believe this was a low cal meal. In general the recipes are pretty easy to follow, so its a thumbs up for me!
  • This is a Stew recipe for the slow cooker. It makes a big batch of soup that you can freeze down as well. With Xmas coming up, you can use this slow cooker recipe for Turkey leftovers as well. Cover chicken carcus or bones with water then slow cook 6 hrs Strain broth and separate meat from bones Return meat to broth then…
  • I have a similar problem, yesterday at the gym met someone who was a rehabilitation expert in the forces. He suggested strength training with the weights machines. Not sure what they are called but you sit down and push the weights with your feet and the other is where again sitting down push outwards with knees/legs. Ths…
  • I will enjoy Christmas, log as best I can so I know what a bad boy I have been but will not be obsessed in keeping down my calories over the festive period. A few days excess can be sorted out with a bit of effort in the New Year. In my opinion it is the parties and meals in the run up to Christmas that does the damage. My…
  • It's Ryvita with Philadelphia light Chilli & Cucumber for me.
  • Walked dog this morning 30 mins, gardening for an hour then cardio in gym for 70 mins. Nice bath, dinner but tired now!
  • Most of the time I cook from scratch. I have entered half a dozen recipes which sit in my recipe box. There does not seem anyway to view users recipes on the site. Would be good if we could all learn from others recipes. I'm ok for anyone to add as a friend.
  • I use first thing on a Thursday morning and have some weight watcher scales that have been reliable. I find mid week best for weigh as a monday for example can be skewed should you be doing things at a weekend that is still in your system. Also first thing in the morning is consistent in terms of not being affected by food…
  • First week over, taken a protein shake after each exercise and just recorded 2 pound weight loss. So, good first signs that it may affect the fat burning and also I am sure if has helped the recovery process after cardio work out.
  • Great post from Brooklynjade, my protein.com looks like a great site to purchase. Have just emailed them to see what they recommend. Thank you for the recommendation.
  • I agree there could be some benefits to using protein shakes after exercise. Have sent friend request so we can compare progress
  • I found a protein powder in Boots called Casilan 90 16 grms = 58 cals & 14grms protein. I will try this after exercise as a shake with water and see what happens over the next few weeks.
  • I don't have a cheat day, but every so often you go out with friends for a meal, birthday bash or just a few drinks. I have been surprised that an odd day has not harmed my weight loss. Last weekend I was well over my calorie limit but back on the plan rest of the week and lost a pound at my weigh in today. So, you should…
  • I use Polar F7 records time in training zone, calories burned and heart rate. Also stores some stats to review. Had this for a while now and very pleased. You have to remember to deduct your basic cals before entering to your exercise MFP.
  • I'm from Peterborough
  • Hi, my name is Les from England, completed 4 weeks now and pleased to have lost 9 pounds. Have a 20 pound target on 1250 calories. Whilst reading the great posts on starvation and eating back exercise calories I do struggle with the concept. Go to gym 3 times a week and play golf. My diary is open
