Oh, no one knows the best option, especially since everybody's body is different. However, the way most people have had success is through heavy resistence training. When you go through the history of body building, one thing has remained constant...lift heavy stuff. Since competitive body building began in the 1930s,…

I just googled it....I'd stay away, its very high in sugar. However, if you're on the fence, call the company and request a free sample (most companies will send you a few) and try it out yourself. I will let you know, as I'm sipping a Monster, taurine (one of the ingredients) is addictive and withdrawls will give you a…

What you're describing is High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT), which a lot of studies have show to be more effective for fat loss.

Then you should know that Arnold and Franco built their physics with heavy free weight squats, deadlifts, and presses....they weren't built, but refined, on machines. For a beginner, any trainer worth their salt would tell them the most effective way to start is with free weight squats, deadlifts, and presses. But then…

Most personal trainers will get you in the gym and count for you as you knock out 15 reps or more of low weight exercises. That will not work. If you're going to try to hire someone, hire a professional strength coach for a few sessions and have him teach you how to squat, deadlift, bench press, and shoulder…

Women body builders use steroids and estrogen blockers, coupled with years of training and diet, to look like they do. You won't be buff.

That would cost more money than actually buying the book itself....

Yes, and no. Machines were made mostly to isolate certain muscles more effectively for body builders and for being able to lift heavier weights more safely. It also allows those not strong enough to do some exercises to hit the same muscles (ie. pull ups and lat pull down machine). However, machines restrict your body to a…

1. Grab weight by handle. 2. Lift. 3. Put it down. 4. Repeat. :) All seriousness, go to a website like bodybuilding.com if you want to learn how to do certain exercises. Stronglifts is a good site, but its a for profit blog so you have to sift through some crap to get great information.

It might make a slight difference. Strengthening your pecs will pull the skin up slightly around the top of the breast, though don't expect your girls to look like they did at 18 without some surgery.

It took years to do what we do to our bodies, its impossible to take days to fix it.

I see no problem with downloading it to see if its worth the money. However, you're obligated to buy it if you decide to use it.

Pawn shops, e-bay, craigslist, or get an eye patch, parrot on your shoulder, and wooden leg :P.
-
In all honesty, you don't have to do ab exercises to get a strong core....squats, deadlifts, and presses.
-
Barbell twists, lawn mowers, one sided farmers walk, and side bends...but remember you won't see a change unless you reduce overall body fat percentage. In fact, you risk making your love handles bigger if you don't lose fat in addition to exercise.

I just finished watching it, and guess what he says at the end...."lift heavy weights." He didn't get his body by doing high rep, low weight workouts. It was a pretty decent documentary that shows how much hard work you have to go through to look like one of those fitness models.

Exactly....starting children too young can be detrimental to their health. Now I don't know anything about the Crossfit kids programs, but if they're starting them out with a PVC pipe or lightweight dow rod to teach them form, great. I think sports heavy in running, like soccer or basketball, is more beneficial to kids…

I'm addicted to AMP...that's my biggest fault when it comes to dieting lol.

Resistance bands. They're cheap, take up very little space, and will give you a pretty decent start.

If you're building muscle, you're going to retain some water. Don't look at the scale, look in the mirror and take body measurements to use as a tool for success. Last month I had only lost 5lbs, but over 2" off my waist. If you're brand new, you'll start seeing small changes in a few weeks, but then your friends and…

That's what I was thinking by high rep (15-20+ range with pink 2lb dumbells). I don't consider 8-12 rep "high rep." Crossfit is a whole different animal, and I've posted multiple times on why I don't like it. Now Crossfit-type workouts aren't bad, especially in the hands of educated trainers who incorporate some of those…

Not to mention if you make any sort of noise during your workout...basically if you exert yourself.

There is no such thing as toning (should've put that as #1). Toning is the lowering of body fat percentage to see the muscles, if you use low weight/high reps you won't have much muscle to see. The reason people believe it works is that typically low weight/high rep workouts are done as circuit training (ie. cardio). You…

Also youtube Mark Rippotte (he wrote Starting Strength...essentially the Bible of weight training) and he has great videos on how to complete the exercises. I thought I was deadlifting right until I watched his video and found out my form was all sorts of jacked up...with the correct form I instantly added 50lbs to my…

You can log it under the cardio section (its either under "Weight Training" or "Strength Training"). If you're talking about your individual workouts to keep track of progress, I use Fitocracy, but there is also JEFIT and Bodybuilding.com has easily the best tracker (with neat little charts and graphs).

Every female should read this thread....now only if I could convince my wife.....

The only reason I didn't mention Starting Strength is because power cleans are very difficult for a beginner to do...heck even for advanced lifters its difficult to master.
-
Yup, this is 10+ years of personal experience and practical application (though not for several years...which is why I'm here lol). I've tried pretty much every type of workout program: cardio only, high reps/low weights, high weight/low reps, 5x5, bodybuilding splits, push/pull, circuit, and various magazine workouts.…

My man thong might get me banned. The superman logo allows me to lift heavier!

Underarmor is good stuff, but you're gonna pay for it.
