Things I've Learned About Strength Training
1. Unless you are an experienced lifter, do not create your own program. Great programs, created by professional strength coaches, have already been created...do one of those. 2. Do not do a program you find in a body building magazine. Bodybuilding programs are pretty much useless for beginners since they contain high…

LE/FIRE & Steroids
Do you guys know your co-workers who use, or are there some you suspect use? I find this quite interesting since steroids are illegal, yet I know for a fact that some of my fellow LE use....several I used to work with....though as long as you don't say anything, or anyone get too suspicious, they don't test.

5x5 Question - Odd Work Schedule
I'm wanting to start Stronglifts 5x5 program, but I have an odd work schedule and don't get enough sleep as it is. I work 12 hour shifts (overnights, 5:45pm-6:00am), but with getting ready for work and commute, its more like 14 hours each day I work. Then on the week days I take my daughter to school, which puts me home…

The best exercise probably most forgotten?
Lets throw this out there to see if we can add a little something to our strength training workouts! Besides the big 3, and we'll throw the clean and jerk family out since a lot of gyms forbid the lift, what weight lifting exercise do you think people just don't do? My opinion is the Pull-Over. I incorporate this at the…

Love/Hate Relationship
Does anyone have a love/hate relationship with a specific lift? Mine has got to be deadlifts. I dread them going in, feel like I'm gonna pass out and puke during, but I fell awesome afterwards!

Worst Gym Injury?
After having to take it easy for a few days with a pulled hamstring, I was thinking back on my worst gym injuries. Besides my pride, I think the most painful was I actually tore a rib muscle. I was doing leg press and came down low, heard a pop near my ribs. I thought I actually broke a rib, but I just tore a muscle. There…

Afraid of being judged at the gym?
No one cares how much weight you can lift, no one cares how far you can run on the treadmill, no one even really cares if you work hard or not...but you will be judged. Like it or not, everyone is judged in the gym to one aspect or another. If you go in there and work your butt off, or if you're in there for an hour and…

Stretching the Hamstrings
For some reason my hamstrings have been tight since I started working out hard (since mid-January). I workout on average 5-6 days a week (4 strength/cardio, 2-3 cardio only) and stretch every single day. Before I started working out, I would never stretch and my hamstrings would feel fine. However, now that they're tight,…

Why men are more intimidated in gym...
I see all these threads about how women are intimidated by the men in the gym, and they shouldn't be. Do the women not realize that its more intimidating for a man to walk into the gym for the first time than a woman? In evolutionary terms, a man is supposed to be strong, fast, and fit, which is why a lot of beginners who…

DON'T USE THE SCALE TO MEASURE SUCCESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I've seen too many threads lately where people are frustrated because they gained a few ounces or a few pounds. Worst Fitness Purchase?
I'm wondering what your worst fitness purchase was? A product, a gym membership at a horrible gym, or work out video that you felt you wasted your money on.
