Me again... just finished reading all your posts on the new thread... Penny - sounds like you may have a "seasonal asthma" thing. Sometimes the change in season, especially if the temp rises and falls dramatically like it is here can bring on all kinds a weird things. My one horse has a bad case of hives which he gets…

Hey all .... took me a while to figure out that the thread started over. Kinda new to this sort of thing. I was reading up on last two pages and replied to a couple - but they must have gone into cyber space! I got back a few days ago from my trip with my daughter and have been working pretty late hours to catch up. First…

Hey all.... Sorry, I've been away from the thread for a few days...been really busy. My daughter just got in last night from school on spring break. All week I've been working overtime to be all caught up - we're going to Disney World for a few days - leaving tomorrow. This will be a challenge because she and I are a bad…

I watched a documentary on intermittent fasting...various schedules. The benefit is more to bring down certain blood chemistry to possibly help you to live longer and stay healthy as you age. Weight loss can happen because it has been observed that on the non-fasting days, one doesn't eat as much as was originally thought,…

Welcome Jenn... I too have experienced down time, weight gain due to an injury. I injured my back some time ago and it took nearly a year and a half to be able to work out again. I use an exercise ball whenever my back seems to be bothering me. I bought the ball with a DVD and stretch band as a kit. The ball is really…

So that's the trick - dancing with drinking. I'm a bit older, so I don't much go dancing when I'm out. Usually sitting and eating while I'm drinking....hmmmm. I'll be visiting my college aged daughter this week. Maybe she will get me out dancing! (or maybe she'll just roll her eyes at me!)

I like the "whenever it was I last weighed in" - I think we sometimes get too hung up on the number. Clothes fitting better is by far the best reward! In fact, I like to go shopping once every week or two just to try things on...not intending to buy (unless I simply can't resist) but to see how much better things are…

Hey all.... Well I weighed in and down another three! I've been really keeping track...in fact, I decided to try logging ahead with all my meals so that I can try and build a good eating plan for the day, rather than logging what I already ate...in case, well, you know. I started this on Saturday, after a night out with…

My driveways is 700 feet from the garage to the street, I dragged a full garbage can through the (not so deep) snow and jogged all the way back. I did not log that as execise....just felt good! I shop to exercise my ego!

Hey all... I knew I would have to work late yesterday (didn't make it home until 11:30PM!!) and this usually does me in because I get home famished and eat randomly then go to bed. One of my problems. BUT, I planned ahead this time...brought a can of soup and a protein bar to have at work. So far so good, but about 10 I…

You may not need to lose weight, but watch what your eating - too much sugar and refinded carbs will help store fat around the middle. Weight training is the best for building lean muscle. Okay, now I have to take my own advice !!!

I once had a waffle with maple bacon ice cream courtesy of Michael Simon.

Hey all..... Well, my double workout was killer. Im doing the JM Body Revolution - week 8 (though I'm not exactly following the plan because I mix it up with other workouts during the week) I started this some time ago, then quit, got busy at work, Christmas, New Years blah blah blah and ended up where I started. Once my…

Rodney Yee is great. I did a clinic with him at a Yoga Journal Conference. Do you have his DVD Yoga Burn ? Sounds worse than it is...it's actually a slow flow sequence where he moves in and out of each pose 3 times to help you get a deeper and deeper stretch. Try it!

Yoga is great. It will be a perfect addition to your exercise plan as it will help with flexibility particularly if you are doing alot of running. You may find that you have difficulty at first with flexibility because of the other workouts (tend to contract more than stretch the muscles) but it will come with time - be…

Could it be that the extreme calorie reduction or extreme exercise puts undo stress on the body, releasing cortisol - which will help maintain fat stores?
-
Yes, you always need enough in the backpack.

Im on week 8 of Body Revolution. I've always like JM's workouts and this one I got interested in because it has 15 DVD's - all getting progressively more challenging. I like it because each workout is 30 minutes - but 30 minutes of pure sweat! I'm not using it exactly how the program is intended because I mix it up with…

Crow pose - awesome, and other arm balances - takes alot of strength - if fact, lifting helps me do these better! Yoga is no joke though. I'd say it should be the base to any fitness plan...strength, focus, flexibility... helps you get in touch with your real goals and aspirations. Its not about competition or who's…

Edit - forgot the quote....see comment below.

I have to workout in the AM otherwise I may never get to it. Its best to eat some protein before a workout (30 mins or so before). But not too much otherwise, with a full breakfast you may need an hour or so. I will have some non-fat plain greek yogurt with a few chopped walnuts, cinnamon and a tad bit of vanilla - Yum!…

OOOh thank you. I love to bake, my daughter and I even took a cake baking, decorating class and have made so many for friends and family - part of the reason I ended up here! So I was thinking that my baking days were behind me -- well, I will have some fun with these!!!
-
Just the story I needed to hear - and see!!! It's a shock to learn just how many calories we used to eat!!!! The food diary is key, I agree, and paying attention to the nutrient balances. I am planning to follow in your footsteps. Thank you!
-
I agree ...you need to re-think the fat comment. But - as to your diet plan. May work in the short term, but my fear is that if you "mess up" on your routine it could cause some anxiety, and that is the real killer. When you're stressed, the hormone cortisol will bring things to a grinding halt. If you are too strict then…

Morning all ! Well, yesterday - not so good. First mistake, I logged my exercise before I actually excercised (because I really intended to do it) and then had it in my head the calories I could eat back.....Next mistake - I went grocercy shopping late in the day when I was getting pretty hungry..... I like to buy those…

Don't feel bad....I gained 50 pounds during my pregnancy and am still working off the baby fat.....my daughter is 19 years old! Ugh....

Hand them the cupcake and say "I think you need this more than me, you need some sweetening up!"
