If your endo can not figure out the correct dose of medication I think you should find another doctor. I'm on synthroid and cytomel...my doc does a bit of math and tweeks my dose and I'm back to normal. When your thyroid is off then everything in your body is off. Get a second opinion.

get back on the horse and do it again until you can control the eating.

Yes, but it is probably not from the thyroid problem. Just garden variety neurotic. I feel very tired and I eat more and it gives a bit of a boost for 1/2 an hour. Keep writing down what you eat; I find in print it helps to slow down what in put into my mouth.

Stress workshops always seemed a bit stupid to me. Put on by management to pretend they are helping. Having food that is high calorie and not good for you at a meeting shows me they are really insensitive and any workshop from them would be a total waste of time. Don't set yourself up and don't go again. Go for a walk or…

My endo started me on Cytomel along with the synthroid. She does not like levo as it is not always the correct dose of meds and she prefers the brand name. I take cytomel in a.m. with synthroid and another dose at 1 ish. This gives me energy to keep going. I must admit that I also drink coffee in A.M. and at noonish.…

I do my best not to drive by any bakery. I avoid the cookie isle. I tell myself that people love me and I don't need to hide behind fat tissue. That was a hard one. I had a high stress job, nasty husband and mother-in-law from hell. I'm retired and readjusting my head. It is work not to binge. I try not to have any extra…

I agree with JayMri. You may be pushing yourself too much and not getting enough rest or on the other hand you might have been unlucky and caught a cold. Are you eating enough protein?

I was on that med and also lost hair. I stopped med and had surgery where 1/2 of my thyroid was removed. My surgeon never takes out all of the thyroid, but prefers to go back a 2nd time if needed to remove the rest as he feels it is too dangerous to remove it all for hyperthyroidism. I could have had radio active iodine,…

There is no magic pill. Small portions, no eating when upset or stressed or at least eat less.

Endo's usually know a lot more then other doctors about thyroid. All doctors think they know about the thyroid, but in my experience they don't. Have them call each other and discuss the issue. If they will not speak to each other then go with the endo.

hypo can cause you to be very cold.

My endo does not like Armour as she feels the dose is not well controlled. I know some people on this site swear by it. I am on synthroid, brand name, again as she feels the generic in this case is not as good. I also take cytomel (T3 replacement). When I did not take the cytomel I was so tired I slept for 2-3 hours during…

Emotions can be related to the thyroid. Check your thyroid levels. If you do not have a thyroid problem then I suggest you find support for your weight loss with a group or a person.

I had 1/2 of my thyroid out--It was a great relief to no longer be hyperthyroid and always hungry and anxious. Getting the correct dose of synthroid and cytomel took about 4-5 months. I again became hyperthyroid as a nodual that was left acted up and so my synthroid was reduced. There is a need for frequent (every 3-6…

I passed out and fell down a flight of stairs...It was before lunch and I was hungry and my blood pressure medicine was reducing my blood pressure too much . You probably need to eat more protein before you exercise. I encourage you to speak with your doctor to find the cause and a the correct fix for your problem.

I also have the same disease as you. I think that you should exercise/heart rate at a level you feel comfortable. Ignore graphs and specific numbers. With our disease things can change quickly for better or can become worse. I walk daily with my dog and to some light exercises in the pool. I also garden a bit. That is all…

aging, stress, too much to do all that and more can cause you to forget. It sounds like you are really hard on yourself. relax, so you forgot something...big deal. I write sticky notes and leave them about the house and also write in my calendar. I bring the notes in the car too, just in case. I have some damage from…

ruqayyahsmum, run, do not walk to a different doctor. Are you seeing a specialist? If you are find a different one and if not find a specialist. Many general doctors think they can deal with thyroid issues...they CAN NOT.. Sending Hug

If I take at night I want to stay awake for hours. I am a very quick to sleep person usually and so I never take my meds at night.

I take meds with a glass of water when I get up in the morning and wait one hour before eating. I used to take them with food, but that is no longer recommended. When I started meds 40 years ago there was no recommendation to wait or drink with water. Things change and so did I .

I take synthroid and cytomel in A.M. and more cytomel at about 1 P.M. I have tried taking at night or later in the day and it keeps me up and I have lots of energy and can't go to sleep. I would rather have the energy during the day. Everyone reacts to meds differently. You will need to try yourself and see what works best…

It is suggested that you wait one hour to eat after taking thyroid meds. I would think that includes vitamins.

I have been doing acupuncture for about 18 years. It is important that you know what your problem is as treatment can hide symptoms. It works great for back pain and for some of my breathing problems. I would not use it for my thyroid, though my last acupuncturist wanted to stick needles in my neck--I passed on that one.

follow your doc's direction...lower carbs and raise protein. Carbs=sugar. Do you have an endocrinologist? I suggest you get a referral for a second opinion on your needs. Remember no canned foods, no packaged foods...everything fresh. Lots of hidden sugar, salt and other things you don't want to put in your tummy in stuff…

I've been through a bunch of doctors. I finally have four that I can trust. My endo. is great. My medical doctor is great at diagnosing illness and explaining it to me. Keep looking for a doctor who talks to you and discusses your health.

I find that ANY salt raises my blood pressure 30 points. I suggest you try stopping all salt intake. That means no canned foods and no packaged meats. When you eat out ask them to put no or very little salt in the food. I have a chronic disease that causes the hypertension and so I take a very low dose of meds. I once took…

I had 1/2 of my thyroid removed for same problem as you. I have hypertension from another disease. I did pass out and fell down a flight of stairs when my blood pressure suddenly dropped after another health problem was fixed (sleep apnea). I suggest you check with the doctor concerning your blood pressure. Is it too low…

I also take cytomel which is a T3 replacement. I take it twice a day; in A.M. and about noon. This really helps with fatigue. Levo is generic and it is not always a consistent dose (I take brand synthroid for that reason). I have an endocrinologist who really helped when I complained about symptoms. It sounds that your doc…

I had half of my thyroid removed as allergic to iodine. ( i.e. Ratio active iodine is a no no for me) Best thing I ever did. I'm glad did not do radiation as usually the whole thing is gone, plus I don't think radiation is great for people, even small doses. It has been fairly easy to have the thyroid levels controlled…

I suspect you will feel better. I am now very sensitive to salt and can use very little. My K(potassium) was low and I felt lousy. Felt better as soon as I raised it and I hope it is the same for you with the salt. electralites (spelling?) are very important and small changes can really cause problems with our bodies.
