I like the numbers...it motivates me and helps me work harder, nothing wrong with that. Different things for different people...happy your way works for you..and happy tracking calories etc works for others! Seriously..

21 calories per minute seems really high..that is what it breaks down to. I'm sure some people can get really high calorie burns per minute..but to sustain it for over an hour--i'm not sure about that? i never quite believed mfp for the numbers it gave for taekwondo, I have worn my polar to the odd class and when I'm…

Yes I know, however it doesn't mean I have to like them :)

Thanks for sharing your transformation, you have done wonderful!

I really enjoy strength training so I am going to stick with it and continue with smaller amounts of cardio. Thx guys :)

You do as many reps as you possibly can, next time or the time after you may be able to do one more. Eventually your strength will improve. Stopping your workout completely is not going to help the situation, just keep going and do as much as you can! 'Working out is hard, it will always be hard because you are pushing to…

You look sooooo good! Congrats on all your hard work...what a payoff!

Go and try it! Don't worry about your age & fitness--everyone starts out somewhere and you just do as much as possible for yourself--don't worry about what other people can do-everyone is at different fitness levels. The great thing about martial arts is that you are constantly improving and challenging yourself-but being…

Way to go! Jiujitsu is tough..good job on getting in there an competing..sure it is nice to win but even if you don't the experience itself of preparing, dealing with the jitters, fighting someone new is so valuable!! I love martial arts..great for fitness!

I have only worn a hrm a few times just because it gets in the way..but I found I burn about 1500-1600 in a 2 hour training class for sparring--taekwondo. Our warm up alone can be 40 mins & I will burn approx 500 cals in that time. Even in the few minutes you spend transitioning from one thing to the next or switching off…

I would have time for legs on Monday before my class! Sleep is good, nutrition is still a work in progress. Thanks :)

I train to compete in taekwondo. That is where all the tkd hours comes in. I am also pursing my blackbleIt in the new year. I can't dial back the number of hours I put in right now. In the past year I have come to realize how important it is to build muscle and I am trying to fit it in where I can. Prior to that I did no…

I am lifting as heavy as I can and have been increasing my weight as often as I can. I just assumed it was not as intense as my other activity-because-well sparring is very intense..lol. Should I wear my hrm when i am lifting to get a better idea? Thanks for the link, I will check that out.

i am in the same boat as you..i recently broke my wrist badly...for the first 6 weeks I could do nothing upper body at all & was very limited otherwise because any movement hurt my wrist-- now I am starting to work the one good side and I can tell I have lost a lot of muscle, my injured side is even weaker because I have…

Yes..definately increase your sparring time..the only thing I found to improve my sparring--is sparring  We train 2x a week just sparring, 2x a week taekwondo and 2x a week just conditioning. We work alot on techinque, strategy, being explosive & fast. It is ten times harder than our regular tkd class. Last Oct I…
