I seriously could not be more happy seeing how far you've come over these past few months Bree! You are such an inspiration that the disease can certainly be licked and I hope many others follow your lead! SO many days I've been so impressed with each positive step you take, even if it meant just not beating yourself over…

Only problem with this post is that some of us have been around for more than 2 years. And this ^^^ little cycle didn't apply much before about a year & a half ago. That's when a big group (I lovingly call "the mob") came in & just loved to throw around the insults & "snarky" comments at those that weren't a part of their…

^^^ I agree with this. I used to think that fit folks only ate chicken & broccoli all day. I now know better. There is definitely a place for moderation even in the fit person's lifestyle. I very much advocate IIFYM. Also, OP, if you will incorporate muscle building into your goals (and I'm not talking getting bulky) it…

Sheesh folks, ease up on her. I'm pretty sure she wasn't 100% serious. In fact it kinda sounds like a John Gaffigan bit. ETA: Jim, not John

Of course not; you're supposed to. That's how this site is designed, or else your cal deficit is too large.

@Christy 31? @CKerr 40?
-
Ummm 30. Yeah, I'm gud at Math :)

Well come out o the closet already! GO BRONCS!
-
Ok. Yeah, all for it.

Wait... I'm all for using streaming music or even logging workout sets across the wire (what I do). But why do you need wifi so bad? Just get a data plan & don't worry about it.

Yup. The Staci chik on this site: http://www.nerdfitness.com/blog/2011/07/21/meet-staci-your-new-powerlifting-super-hero/ is an awesome tribute to women lifting heavy.

Depends, what are you looking for? If it's just general weight loss, yoga isn't really a big calorie burner. I do it on a rest day to improve flexibility and mobility for sports type stuff. But if you're just trying to lose weight try something with more of a burn.

I fit this category, although I've been told I have the maturity of a much younger man

NICE!

I think everyone is assuming your ultimate goal is physique. If so, I agree that you shouldn't skip the lifting, just adjust cal intake. But it might be helpful if you tell us what your real goals are. Cuz there are circumstances where weights takes a backseat to cardio.

Yep, whenever a computer decides who the #1 teams are this is what we get. Kinda like how the opinions of stats guys & those that've never played (John Clayton, Steven A Smith, Skip Bayless...) are ALWAYS < the opinions of ex-players or coaches.

Wow, just noticed this thread was going anywhere. And I see that almost everyone misunderstood the point. And no time was I speaking of noobies. I love new folks! I'm anxious to help out newbies that wanna improve! In fact, I've already helped out a couple this past week. And of course I recognize that I was new once! A…

This ^^^ Whenever I hear an ad or news story or "expert" claim that something is "healthy" or "unhealthy" in a blanket fashion, they lose total credibility. Healthy is relative. Believe it or not, there are times when what is appropriate is a quick shot of simple carbs. But I'm guessing the app won't know that.

Here are a couple of my contemporaries: GEORGE ABBOTT (1887-1995) One of the most active American theater and film producers in history. WALTHER NERNST (1864-1941) German scientist that discovered the third law of thermodynamics. GEORGE ORWELL (1903-1950) British novelist of prophetic "Nineteen Eighty-Four" Here are the…

Who said they're the same? I didn't. I used the application of a principle, taken to an extreme, to more easily see the point. That point being that a mere caloric deficit does not, by itself, equate to health & fitness. Don't be a richard.

So holocaust victims are healthy? If your only intent is to be lean & able to maintain a certain cardio level of fitness, then yes, running's enough. I did only running for almost 15 years & was able to maintain a decent shape & participate in sports without much fatigue. But once I decided I wanted to build a better…

If I'm being "particular" like during a cut, I cook almost everything I eat. Otherwise, I do about half the cooking for the fam.

^^^Pretty much this too. I'll let em sit in my queue for a while to see if I can figure out why they requested me & if it'll be a decent fit. Sometimes give em a trial run if I can't make up my mind. Also, if I see nuthin but shirtless dudes from a guy request, I'm not into that.

Sleep on the couch. Problem solved.

Isn't this the basis for every romantic comedy... ever?

The last time I tried a max regular set was over a year ago; I hit 24 I think. I typically do weighted or variations and only after other lifts as assistance. Right now I can do BW+45 x 10 or BW+80 x 4. Kipping? Idk, I had a bad case of dry heaves once. Does that count?
