I'm not sure about what type of college classes you teach or what the primary demographic of your students might be, but in my experience as an older student in a classroom setting, younger students who would say something like that were inexperienced enough in life that they consider "scoring"' on somebody a cool thing to…

You'd think the forums for tobacco cessation support would be worse - but you'd be wrong. At least, from my experience, QuitNet was a LOT friendlier, which I found shocking. That said - I have found some of the most amazing MFP friends and the best advice I can give anybody is to take from the forums what helps, and tune…

For the WIN! Awesome Chris!

If I could only ever eat at one fast-food joint (and who goes to a drive-through to buy health food anyway?) I would choose CFA. Nothing political, I just love the flavor that the peanut-oil pressure-cooker gives the chicken strips. I don''t get the waffle fries or use the sauces - I just scarf the 4-piece chicken strips…

Very well stated. That's why I've begun measuring everything - which is funny because that's what my profession taught me: what we measure, we improve. I weigh my food now, I measure my heart rate to log activity accurately. You are SO right that what is best is often not what is easy!

Hi Chris, Sorry but of all the people I know - young or old, male or female - only one does a thorough house cleaning every day. A thorough house cleaning for me takes anywhere from 3-4 hours. As I get more fit, I get through it faster. My one acquaintance who does so is a germaphobe. She does her housework top to bottom…

Lugging my vacuum cleaner up the stairs, scrubbing off soap scum from shower walls, washing and grooming my dogs, and scraping and washing litter boxes all get my heart going, too! LOL! Mike Jacobs, you can always wear a HRM to gauge how many calories you burn during strength training. I was literally surprised how many…

This. I'm 56 yrs old and rather big breasted (now). I don't tolerate heat well. At work, I make sure my tops come up to an appropriate level. Anywhere else is at my discretion. I didn't have anything much to show when I was younger. I like having it now, and while I don't remove all need for imagination - I do demonstrate…

1. I had two of my three daughters at home. On purpose. The Army prevented me from having the 2nd at home. 2. I once almost knocked the King of Sweden on his backside. I didn't know it was the King till much later, when friends told me Swedish Secret Service all had their rifles trained on me. 3. I supported the 1st…

1 cup = 8 fluid ounces (US) and my drinking glasses at home are 24 oz. That's 3 cups. I have no problem drinking 3 glasses of water a day. As a matter of fact, when I drink half as many ounces of clear water a day as I weigh in pounds, I feel better. My digestive processes seem to work better, my skin seems less dry, and…

You really are beautiful (at any weight) and I'm so inspired by your commitment and perseverance. The difference that 50 lbs has made on your body is fabulous and very evident. The difference it has made in your attitude and outlook must feel really great, too. Congrats!

Perhaps not funny... but I love it:

Love this idea, and I have a hill nearby - thank you for this KMoore02!

Bobby, that is FANTASTIC! Rex Ryan has nothing on you! <applause applause>

My mother always felt she needed to be married or she was an unsuccessful woman - it was how she was raised, I suppose. She made so many choices that meant traumatic suffering for us, her children, as well as herself. I believe she was repeating a behavior she learned from her own mother and never understood what she was…

Thank you forever!

Wow. Ummm.... ever consider decaf? :flowerforyou:

You, my friend, are 100% awesome! Thank you SO MUCH for sharing your story. <applause applause> :flowerforyou:

Anyone is welcome to view my diary, but I assure you that it is far from perfect! I will say that, given my age and level of activity, I'm pleased with having lost 30 lbs in the last three quarters of a year. I feel good, I don't feel deprived, and even when I plateau I feel motivated to keep going. :-D

BMR is the count of calories your body would use to maintain itself if you were in a coma and did absolutely nothing all day. It stands for Basal Metabolic Rate. TDEE is the "Total Daily Energy Expenditure" that you burn just doing your normal day - brushing teeth, styling your hair, walking to the car, picking up sacks of…

I just noticed your food notes - you're taking what the calculator says you will weigh in 5 weeks if you keep eating at those levels. Please know that the calculator doesn't factor in whether or not you are adequately fueling your workouts. Do some reading about eating back some of your exercise calories - I know there's a…

Marvelous achievement and so inspirational! Thanks for sharing and I hope you feel a great sense of accomplishment. I also love that you've developed new fitness goals that will help you maintain your hard-won goal. Great job!

Personally, I would double my chicken portion (at least, maybe triple it to a full chicken breast) and start adding PB2, protein shakes, nuts, and other sources of protein. Other than that, you're really doing well on the fruits - don't forget your veggies, and you'll be fine! :flowerforyou:

Absolutely fantastic work and amazing progress! Keep it up - you're doing GREAT!

Personally, I asked my Dr. to do a blood panel on me before I started trying to lose weight. I had reason, because my oldest daughter was diagnosed with Hashimoto's disease, which tends to run in families. I just wanted to be certain that anything that might be lurking in my blood was factored in before I began losing…

I'm sorry I can't offer any assistance - I've never used the other sites so I have no basis for comparison. I will say that the reason I've stuck here is because most of the people here are helpful, patient, and kind. I've got a fantastic group of friends here and we really support one another quite a lot - that means a…

How inspirational you are! I promise that I'll keep going if you will - I started just slightly larger but I'm nowhere near as close to one-derland and you're already in it! LOL Anyway, thank you for inspiring me and congrats on your very hard work. You should be proud!

jyuubi I couldn't agree more. Well said! Nothing at all against those who have them... but for me, unless I can change them as often as I change my mind, I'll pass. :flowerforyou:
