  • For me, personally I like variety. I've done most of the Les Mills classes but because they are choreographed they can become monotonous. I'm not saying they aren't worth doing, but perhaps make sure your gym offers other classes as well. Also, as mentioned - classes really depend on the instructor. Hopefully you can get a…
  • I'm on Metformin too and have had the same problems. I'm on the slow release version and still find the same, particularly in the mornings. Ask your Pharmacist/doctor if you can try taking them at different times, and always take them with food
  • Hi, I'm 44 from Melbourne, Australia. Have fallen off the bandwagon more times than I care to remember so could also use a buddy on the journey. Well done to you for keeping the 20lbs off!!
  • P.S. SeasShell - you look like you've done amazingly well! Good on you!
  • Hi. I'm from Melbourne. Feel free to add me :)
  • Hi Karoxl. I'm from Melbourne. I've been a member for a while but have fallen off the wagon a few times. I've been doing a 'fitness camp' for the last 3 1/2 weeks and have been pretty good during that time so I hope I'm changing some bad habits! Will add you :)
  • I'm in a similar position. I am a member of my closest YMCA and local gym. I'm pretty good with the exercise and I tend to do mostly classes as I get a bit slack when I do things by myself. I like to mix it up and do boxing, RPM, Zumba, Sh'bam, weights, core. I don't really stick to a routine as I love to try new things.…
  • I also only keep healthy snacks in the house. I do let myself have some of the foods I enjoy though. I eat every few hours so I don't get the 'crazy hungries'. I have ready made snacks at home eg. I boil up a few eggs, have raw vegies cut up, tzatki, hommus, yoghurt, etc. If I keep heaps of stuff in the fridge and pantry…
  • I agree with the others. Please don't feel self-conscious! I've been doing Zumba for a while and I'm still pretty un-co! My best piece of advice though is: try a few different classes/instructors. An awesome instructor will make your workout feel like so much fun!
  • Depending on how you travel, I'd not worry about it too much. I tend to buy my breakfast, lunch and snacks from the supermarket so I can easily control what I'm eating for those meals. I do heaps of walking when I travel so have always found that despite partaking in the local food (and drink LOL) at dinner time, I quite…
  • That is a lot of calories! Were you wearing a HRM or were the calories burned from MFP? I know with some of the activities I do, MFP seems to over-calculate calories burned. Either way, good job!!
  • I agree with the others. Jim has raised some valid points. The most difficult thing may identifying your 'triggers' for binging. I struggle with binge eating myself. My strategies are: keeping myself busy and not keeping any 'binge' foods in the house. Are you able to just do a gentle walk for exercise?
  • I've also re-joined MFP after falling off the bandwagon (and regaining half the weight I had lost). I live in Narre Warren (Melbourne) My new goal is to lose 35kg. I'm not in any hurry, but would like to lose 10kg by the end of Nov. Feel free to add me.
  • I'm from Melbourne. Feel free to add me :)
  • I haven't experienced that, but i can see how it's possible with plank jacks, plank thrusts (or whatever they're called!), etc. Lots of plank work where the feet are copping it. I'm finding Level 2 very challenging and i have to have some short breaks (5 to 10 seconds), even if i do the modified versions! I really didn't…
  • I love the Goodness Superfood cereals too. The Heart 1st is delicious! I sometimes eat the Protein 1st one, but unfortunately they don't have a very positive effect on me LOL I usually rotate between toast and Nuttelex (occasionally peanut butter) and cereal. Once every week or so i have bacon and eggs on toast
  • Hi everyone, i'm from Melbourne (via Sydney originally then Brisbane/Gold Coast). I'm around the half way mark. I started 2 years ago - lost 30kg in about 15 months, then mid last year crashed and burned during a stressful time at work, so gained 11 of that back. First goal is to ditch that 11kg (over half way there), then…
  • I was planning on doing 10 days each level. I'm on Day 8 of Level 1, so will see how i go. I'm not actually finding it much easier than day 1 yet LOL
  • I've just done day 6 of level 1... i still have to have a few short breaks and my endurance is no better LOL. I'm not sweating as much so i guess that's something? I don't have wonderful balance either. I find the lunges with bicep curls hard - i go really slow so only do about half of them, and those dumbell raises are a…
  • I'm in too :) I did Level 1 day 6 today. Not the easiest workout!! I'm also doing some work at the gym and zumba. Good luck everyone!
  • ellejay. I'm only using 4lb weights (but will use heavier ones for chest fly from now on). I have knee issues at the best of times and was wondering if i could do this program. I've done the first 3 days fairly well. Just remember with your squats and lunges not to have your knee go over the level of your toes, and take it…
  • I'll be doing Day 4 later today. Legs were sore yesterday but not so bad today. Waiting for my endurance to improve!! LOL
  • Level 1 day 3 for me today. My endurance isn't wonderful. I had to take about 4, 5 second breaks today, and tha'ts doing the beginner modifications LOL. Hoping in a few days i improve!
  • I'm in! Have just done day 2 of level 1... not easy!
  • Worth having it checked out by your doctor if it's a new thing. Sounds like you are drinking enough and stretching. Postassium rich foods, plus a Calcium & Magnesium supplement should help
  • Starting tomorrow... i'm excited (in a scared kind of way haha)!
  • I use Horleys Sculpt. I'm not one for banana milkshakes, but their banana flavour it just devine... really hits the spot after a workout, plus makes me feel i'm having something naughty. To make me feel fuller, i have it with half water and half skinny milk. I've tried the chocolate and coffee flavours - they're both ok,…
  • I've just ordered one from Ebay. Can't wait to start!!
  • Hi all  I've only been on MFP for around 2 weeks and just discovered some Aussie groups. I'm 43 from Melbourne (but have lived in Sydney, Brissie and the Gold Coast). Looking for some friends to share the weight loss journey with. I have quite a way to go (another 22kg) so might be around for a while  .…
  • Commiserations from a fellow chocolate lover. I don't have any in the house, but i still eat it and have lost weight. I have my favourite chocolate stashed at a friends place and only let myself have a couple of pieces (2 or 3) every few days. I managed to lose 30kg by including it in my diet but being sensible. It's…
