5/19/13-7.25 miles in 45 minutes 5/20/13 biked 1/2 hour on my lunch hour. Wanted to bike that evening but we had bad storms so I couldn't. My Endomondo app shut itself off during my ride so I don't have distance to log for this day. 5/21/13 didn't get to ride due to bad weather-Darn! 5/22/13 no bike ride. 5/23/13 no bike…

Goal: 130 and maintain, 100 or more squats a day, go to the gym to workout for cardio and weight machines 3-4 times a day, Ride bike 30 minutes or more every day once or twice a day. 5/23/13-weight was 129.2 up one pound. I just bought a bike last weekend so I am starting this challenge late but I am in! I haven't ridden a bike in over 31 years till last week again. I love it! 5/19/13-7.25 miles in 45 minutes

I just bought a bike last weekend. I hadn't been on one in over 31 or more years! I was a little shaky the first time I took it out for spin starting out but by the end of that first bike ride felt very confident. I just rode it around my neighborhood that is mainly courts so not much traffic. I did that a couple times…

I just log it under walking. If you walk one mile in 15 minutes that is 4mph, although my fitbit one doesn't pick it up as that due to walking in place. Having a HRM really helps to see if you are getting your HR up there. I have used her walking dvds for years and love them. I get up at 5:30 and walk 2 or 3 miles in my…

Goal: 130 and maintain and continue to walk 2 miles at 5:30am to walking dvd, 100 or more squats a day, go to the gym to workout for cardio and weight machines 3-4 times a day. 5/16/13-weight was 128.2 loss of 1.80 pounds. In mantience now so as long as I stay under 130-135 I am happy. Stopped doing the 30 min walk to dvd…

Walked 2 miles at 5:30 M-F the last week,…

Actually the two week pre op diet is to shrink the liver down so they can move around easier for the WLS. Some programs require it others don't. I must say there is alot of lack of education about WLS. I worked my *kitten* off too and I had WLS sleeve surgery June 11, 2012! I worked my *kitten* off to loose 47 pounds pre…

I was leaning towards the sleeve but wanted to ask my WLS surgeon what he thought would be best for me. He told me the sleeve so that is what I went with. I lost 47 pre op and have lost 94 post op since 6/11/12 for a total lose of 141 pounds. I didn't like the rerouting of the RNY and messing with my bowel connection…

Yes I understand this and they don't force you to buy those two specific brands but I do what they say since they are the experts. I am a "rule follower" what can I say! I don't want to deal with any nut. deficencies and have had great lab results at 1, 3, 6, and just recently 10 months post op. It is important to realize…

Friend me and you'll be able to see my food diaries over the time I have lost weight. Sounds like you are getting enough calories in at your stage. My WLS program told me at 6 months I needed to be at 1000 cals and if I worked out more than 30 minutes to up to 1200 cals a day. I try to get 80-100 grams of protein a day and…

Thanks! I have up'd my calories for the day to about 1350 now it was 1200 but some days I was getting near 1350 in due to working out at the gym on those days. I do get 80-100 grams of protein in a day usually. I have been gradually increasing the amount of weight I use at the gym and switched up my workout routine the…

Thanks! That is kinda what I thought. Focus on strength training to lower the body fat which I have been doing since joining the gym in Jan of this year. I don't really want to loose more weight but just lower the body fat % at this point. I am seeing a physical therapist today to go over the DXA scan I had done and am…

What about if a DXA scan was done? I had a DXA scan done 4/26/13 and was wondering if my loose skin is shown as body fat or tissue? My DXA scan said I was 24% body fat which the college professor who did the test said was very good for my age. I looked at some online charts for % of body fat and 24% is condsidered in the…

I am a female, 49 years old, 5'4" 129-130 pounds and had a DXA Scan done on 4/26/13 that said my % of body fat was 24%. I guess according to charts I have seen online I am in the "fitness level" for body fat for a female at my age. I am kinda surprised! I am at my goal weight but would like to lower my % of body fat. Any…

Thanks everyone! I will check out Walmart and see what they have and compare to the one's on Amazon. Some seem to get good/bad reviews online it seems.

This was a DEXA scan which is a machine that you lay down on and it scans your body. It shows bone density but also shows % of tissue and % of body fat and other things. Many have the machines the professor at the University where I had it done at (SIU-Edwardsville) said but don't use it for the % of body fat and other…

It was only $50 for it at a University about 90 miles from me. Locally they only do bone density and not the fat and tissue. That is why I drove 90 miles one way to have it done. Thanks!

Welcome to the group! I had sleeve surgery on 6/11/12 hit my surgeon's goal in Nov 2012 and my own personal weight goal of 130 a few weeks ago. I lost 47 pre op but wasn't told I had to but it did make the surgery easier. Friend me if you like! Good luck!

Congrat on making your goal! That is great! I am sorry your WLS dr isn't much help. Does your program have a nutrionist that you could ask? I hit my personal goal of 130 and eat around 1200-1400 cals a day. I exercise daily by walking and some strength training at home M-F and then hit the gym 3-4 times a week too for…
-
I don't really count carbs but MFP does it for me and I do look at it. My WLS program Nutrionist told me that a peson should get 130 grams of carbs in a day for healthy brain function. I see alot of WLS people only getting 50 grams of carbs in a day and their programs want them to keep that that low but not mine. I was…

Excercise bikes are the best things for bad knees. Just make sure the seat is up high enough so you aren't bending your knee down alot. Walking is good too if you can tolerate it. I have had a torn meniscus repaired 7 years ago after injuring it 2 years before that. The knee scope was a breeze and I kicked myself for…

I bought a FitBit one in Jan of this year and love it. I also have a cheap HRM watch too that I wear sometimes to the gym or when I do cardio at home to check my target Heart rate. I don't usually wear the HRM watch to the gym since the cardio machines have the sensors on there to do that and I compared them with my HRM…
