  • Yes, smells and your taste will change after VSG. It took me about 4 months to get it back after that food tasted the same/better and smells didn't bother me as bad. You can use peppermint oil on a cloth if smells really bother you. Good luck!
  • They make clothes much more larger now than 10-20 years ago. Vanity sizing is what it is. Congrats on your success!
  • I try to do 2-4 a day in the morning. I started at just 15 seconds of holding them, then 30 seconds and then 45 seconds. I can now hold them for 1 minute and will continue to work up to more than just a 1 minutes. I try to do them M-F in the morning with the rest of my at home workout morning routine. Good luck!
  • I also have a HRM watch I used to wear at the gym but I checked it to the readouts on the cardio machines and it was basically the same rate so I quit wearing it. I sometimes where it though when I am doing strength training. It isn't a fancy HRM watch but it did/does the job I need for it. I bought it at TJMaxx for $20…
  • 1. Who out there uses this kind of device? I have a Fit Bit One I bought in Jan of this year 2. Do you like it?-Yes, I love it! 3. Do you wish you purchased a different tracker? If so, which one? No, I love my fit bit one! It motivates me to move more throughout the day and challenges me to get 10,000 steps or more in a…
  • I am 10 months post op from sleeve surgery, had it June 11, 2012. I currently eat around 1200 cals a day, I try to get 80-100 grams of protein in a day. My nut told me 100 grams of carbs for 80-100 grams of protein/1200 cals is good also so that is what I shoot for with carbs. I exercise daily at home and go to the gym 3-4…
  • I had sleeve and I had hair loss post op months 3-5. Really not anything that you can do about it. I took Biotin pre op and post op and used special hair loss shampoo from my hairdresser and I still lost it. I have thick hair so you couldn't tell but had my hairdresser to check it everymonth I went in for a cut or…
  • 4/11/13-Current weight: 131.2 Goal: 130 and maintain and continue to walk 2 miles at 5:30am to walking dvd, 100 or more squats a day, go to the gym to workout for cardio and weight machines 3-4 times a day. 4/18/13 130.20 loss of 1 pound. .20 pounds from my personal goal weight! Walked 2 miles at 5:30 M-F the last week,…
  • Congrats! You are doing great!
  • I used to but since joining a gym I don't count shopping or cleaning and stuff like that. I do count yard work like mowing my lawn with a push mower. I have a fitbit one so I do manually put in the yard work and elltipical machine at the gym since I don't think the fit bit counts it very good. Fit Bit will deduct any cals…
  • Good luck, I had sleeve surgery 6/11/12. Friend me if you like!

  • I joined Planet Fitness in Jan of this year when one finally opened up in my town and I love it. I hit the gym 3-5 times a week. Cardio everytime I go and weights every other time. I had never been to a gym before in my life and felt comfortable there. I met with the trainer right after joining and just recently met with…
  • Did your WLS program have 1 month post op labs done? If not they should. My program has us do them 1 month post op, 3 months post op, 6 months post op and then yearly post op. If you are having problems call your WLS program and ask them what to do. Dehydration can make you tired also. You need to get 80 oz of liquids in a…
  • My WLS program only allows Celebrate or Bariatric Advantage vitamins due to them seeing the best lab results post op from these. I use Celebrate brand and you can buy them from the company that makes them, Celebrate or get some of them at Bariatric Choice website. The cost is about the same and I always buy $50 worth at…
  • I will send you a friend request. I had VSG on 6/11/12. I lost 47 pre op and have lost 92.80 post op! .20 pounds from my own personal weight goal! I LOVE my sleeve!
  • Make sure you are getting at least 80 oz of liquids a day and 80 oz of protein a day. Dehydration is a big factor right after surgery for the first three months or so. Good luck!

  • It does get better as time goes by. I only ate cause I had to and was told to the first three months post op from sleeve surgery. Nothing tasted good. At about 4-5 mohths post op the flavors came back and tasted good to me in foods. Now at over 10 months out I can eat about anything but of course in small amounts and I…
  • I am in. I signed up for the other personal challenge on here but not many posted to it. I don't have much to loose at this point but I would like to get to 130 and then maintain (the tough part). Current weight: 131.2 Goal: 130 and maintain and continue to walk 2 miles at 5:30am to walking dvd, 100 or more squats a day,…
  • I am over 10 months post op from sleeve and mine still does make noise. Not all the time but it does. I guess it is my sleeve talking to me. It can be from just drinking liquids and it will growl!
  • In order to met "team approval" to even get a surgery date or have my insurance paperwork through my WLS group I had to be decaffinated, no carbonated beverages and no smoking (I don't smoke). After surgery they expect the same thing. I have drank some reg coffee since sleeve surgery and done ok with it but don't make a…

  • I drink 14 or more glasses of water that are 8oz most days. It won't hurt you and in face will help in your weight loss. My goal was 80 oz a day but now I try to get 112 oz or more in a day. I count decaf coffee, decaf tea, 20 cal hot chocolate, 0cal Sobe as water drank. I do drink plain water from time to time but mostly…
  • Try to get back on track! You can do it! My WLS nut. told me the most successful post op WLS people who kept it off and maintained the weight loss were the ones who logged their food and logged it honestly. I love MFP. I log daily! It really does help to keep you accountable. I am only almost 10 months post op but I do…
  • Congrats! Are you taking your measurements too along with tracking your weight? Measurements help alot too. I've lost 138 at this point and do have loose skin. I don't know how much it weighs, I started out at 270. Most of it is in my tummy area and some on my upper thighs too. It is just part of the WLS journey, loose…
  • If that is your personal weight goal you can get to it. It is up to you really. My WLS program never did give me a weight goal or a number. Believe me, I asked and asked and they said "as long as you are healthy and not on meds you have met our goal for you". I think they say that if you loose 60% of your excess weight you…
  • Welcome! I was torn between the sleeve and RNY also but I asked my surgeon what would be best for me, and he said the sleeve. A co worker had the sleeve done and she did great so I was kinda leaning towards the sleeve anyways plus I didn't really like the idea of them messing with my bowl like they have to with RNY. I had…
