  • I lost 60 pounds in 2014 due to giving up drinking alcohol everyday, eating better, and exercise. Then in 2015, a number of personal tragedies occurred and I went right back to drinking spirits everyday (a 26oz bottle a day). I have become a functioning alcoholic and, other then close family, no one knows that. Because I…
  • Good luck, I am going thru the same issue right now. 33 years ago, I managed to give up drinking and poor eating choices and lost 100+ pounds. Slowly the weight has come back and along with it endless cocktails at the end of the day and poor eating choices. I'm now working slowly to drop the bad habit.
  • Try pool running in the deep end using a floatation belt - google pool running. That will get your heart rate up.
  • Day 2 of not drinking myself to sleep. I feel great.
  • WOW - GOOD FOR YOU. My son was 24 when he decided to lose 130 pounds. He did and it was a remarkable achievement he went from 300pounds to 170pounds in 12 months. He put himself on a 1350 calorie limit and had 5 or 6 recipes he cooked knowing that each serving was approximately 350 calories. If he had a "bad" day, he just…
  • I have the same issue - no knee cartilage as well and was told to stop any form of exercise that stressed the knee or involved pounding. I now both bike and swim daily. The pain is always close by but I'm getting my cardio in and limiting the injury to my knees.

  • log.
  • I put in 363 miles for the month including one long bike ride of 90 miles...August - I love you.
  • I say "thank you, yes I have" when they ask if I've lost weight. When they ask me when am I going to stop, I tell them " I need to get my body in the best shape so I'm not embarrassed at the nudist colony". That usual stumps them and we move on to talk about other things.
  • I did 40 miles on my indoor bike/trainer.
  • OMG...I have my "meditation" hour every lunch. I find it relaxes and refreshes me and gets me ready to work hard for the rest of the afternoon.
  • I use diet lemon soda with a squirt of real lemon juice....mmmmmm....
  • Levi Button Fly 501 Jeans.
  • I thought this only happened to me. I gained 6 pounds from 4 days of far too much DRINKING. I am so disappointed in myself.
  • I believe the CK25 app takes the WALK/RUN approach were you warm up for 5 minutes walking, run for a minute/walk for a minute. Gradually you start to run longer and the time walking is reduced.
  • Week of June 01-07 70.92 miles with Avg Speed of 16.7mph Week of June 08-14 117.31 miles with avg speed of 16.2mph Week of June 15-21 72.55 miles with avg speed of 15.8 mph (up to June 18th) MTD - 260.78
  • I agree with this. My wife and I work out hard and watch every calorie all week long and then on the weekends we do not log nor schedule any work outs. We don't go crazy on the calories although we do enjoy our drinks and might have dessert. I've lost 54pds and my wife 30pds since January so cheat days do work for us. The…
  • I was always "husky" as a kid (actually I was extremely obese) and at the end of high school at age 17 I weighed 272 pounds. I went in to see a new FD and he put me on the diabetic diet. I lost 75 pounds and kept it off for the most part of college. And then I got a F/T job, did a lot of drinking, eating out, and had…
  • About 3.5 months (14 weeks).
  • Bayfield, Ontario - watching for the Lake Huron ice flows...
  • I'm sorry for you loss. There, but for the grace of God, go I. . When my son was 24, he weighed north of 300lbs. All of his life my wife would worry about his health. I told my wife many times that he would need to have a come to Jesus moment and make the decision that life was worth more than the next cheesburger and…
  • i bike or swim/water run for at least an hour a day for my cardio (i do pushups and hand weights every other day but don't count those calories burned). I have a bike trainer setup in the office and start out every morning on it. I do about 17-20miles in the hour and no matter which calculator I use, it comes up at…
  • I've been looking at buying one of these to calculate the calories I burn while cycling. I have a indoor bike trainer that I use every day for about an hour - would the BodyMedia count these calories? I've heard it can only calculate calories when moving and obviously my arms don't move while biking. Any information is…
  • I took up running at 40 and ran the SF 1/2 marathon when I was 43 and 44. Now I am 52 and need two new knees - but that would have happen regardless as my knees have always been wonky. I do recommend you do a LOT of stretching of the hamstring/calves. As well do strength training specific to the hamstring and knee. If you…
  • I always thought it mattered until my son surprised me, after not seeing each other for a year (he lives very far away and can only come home at Christmas) he lost 130pds just by eating 1350 calories a day. NO CARDIO no strength training. I wouldn't do it that way but you can't argue with success. He is now focused on…
  • thank you for so much good information. Now that you mention it, I do have a few drinks everynight of scotch, and I had thought of it as a calorie is a calorie - I just did the google on the subject and after this bottle is done, no more for me. Thank you again.
  • thank you. what's funny is if you go into MFP and record BIKING 14-16MPH for 120mins - for me it determines I have burned 2411 calories which is inline with the Garmin. I guess I'll just cut all exercise calories in 1/2.
  • I'm using a CycleOps and in conjunction with my Garmin Forerunner 305, I have installed the Garmin Cadence Sensor and am using the heart monitor. According to the Forerunner, I burn about 440 calories per 5 miles biked at approximately 17mph.
