I am also asthmatic and have been on prednisone a number of times. If you are only going to be on it for a few days, I don't think you have to worry about gaining. That is more of a long term side effect. However, you will be wildly productive, which could boost your workouts, although I would take it easy on the cardio if…

Definately after. I don't know how hard/what kind of exercise you do, but exercising on a full stomach can make you nauseated if you are doing cardio. Also, after you exercise, your metabolism is up so your body is more prepared to burn those calories rather than store them. That's what my kines teacher tells me anyway.

For some reason, I crave greasy foods, like cheeseburgers, fries, liquid cheese, anything fried... I also inexplicable find that soda and chocolate makes the cramps better, though I'm pretty sure this is just psychological. I agree with the ice-water tip. Other than that just try to keep bad things out of the house at this…

I confess that I am majorly addicted to caffeine in it's many forms...Pepsi, chocolate, coffee (with lots of sugar and milk), etc...and that I officially can not last the day without at least one can of Pepsi. I actually routinely delegate my calories so that I have enough left over for soda. I also had a bowl of Lucky…

Believe it or not, sometimes you actually have to eat more to lose weight! That's what happened to my mom. She had to up her calories and now she has lost over 15 pounds! Make sure that you are eating healthy, because even if you don't go to the gym, what you eat is the key. I've heard that 1200 calories a day is the bare…

Ah, Nutella...I got completely hooked when I was living in Europe and used to have to buy it in two packs because I went through so much. Happily, it is much more expensive in America, so I hardly ever get to buy it. I feel your pain. I'm not really sure that they sell them in the US, but try to find Bueno candy bars. They…

Up until three weeks ago, I never really even knew about hummus. It was a sad life. My friend drug me to a turkish restaurant while we were traveling and now I can't get enough of it. I buy some everytime I make a Tesco run. I put it on everything that I can think of. It is even good in rice...I have yet to find something…

I have kind of an awkward dilemma, but I was wondering if anyone could answer this question. :blushing: I don't really think that I am fat, I am just extremely curvy for my size. I have a really small waist, but large hips and thighs and a D cup. My problem is that every time I try to lose weight, all that happens is my…

Thanks for the great advice.:flowerforyou: Buffets are definately my downfall. :blushing: That and other people paying. I am in college, so I feel like free food is something that I am required to take advantage of...

Great work!! I love the elliptical too...it's totally my favorite machine at the gym. Yay burning calories!

I am currently living in Europe, so at the time I posted it was evening. Thank you all for the great tips. You'll be happy to hear that I went on a trip with friends to London this weekend and ate an excessive amount of food (it just seems to happen when I travel :blushing:), which when I calculated it actually put me…

I have a question about how the rest of you deal with the amount of calories required. I am used to restricting and eating very low cal, so I am used to eating significantly less than is required according to MFP. I have such a hard time eating when I'm not hungry. I ate a little over 1300 calories today, and now I feel…

I've actually always wanted to try one of those, but I never get around to ordering it. I like the funky workout stuff, because it is so fun that it distracts you from the fact that you are actually working out  . Let us know how it turns out!

Technically...I have heard that Guiness is actually not as bad for you as, say a lager...at least that's what I tell myself.

Another great thing about these fruits is that almost all of them are negative calorie, which means your body burns more calories to digest them than they contain! Just another reason to love fruit!

I never crave chocolate (above the amount that I normally crave it, that is:bigsmile: . I crave grease, for some reason. I feel like I need to eat a lot of hamburger, cheese, things that have been fried...etc. I usually totally go overboard, but this will be my first time while here. Hopefully, I can keep it…

Thank you for this!! I was having kind of a bad day and when I went shopping I had to force myself not to buy junk food. It was seriously a mental struggle and in the end, I left empty-handed. I think that usually, it is this simple...just telling yourself NO!! and making the wise choice.

You can also make them in the microwave if you're worried about burning them. That's what I do!! Just watch the marshmallow or it will roll off the grahm cracker,

Fruit is definately a life saver, because it is good for you and also satisfies your sweet tooth. I also recommend pretzels or carrot sticks if your in a hurry. Low cal pudding or yogurt cups are good too. I agree with the other posters about packing a sandwich, because that way you know exactly how many calories you are…

I think the most that I have spent in a week is 31 euro, and that was really stocking up. It's usually around 15 or 20. Granted, I am shopping for just me and I am studying abroad so all of my money is going towards travel. I try to shop mainly at farmers' markets and Tesco, which I think saves me quite a bit. The "Reduced…

I am glad to see that people are being so open about something that is generally viewed as a personal battle. I have EDNOS, which means I am not anorexic or bulemic, but I do have a problem. I binge, I fast, I restrict, I go on diets, I exercise compulsively...etc. I am in the middle of my struggle right now, which has…

There are actually bug parts in the vast majority of our food, but if it makes up less than a certain percentage the FDA isn't required to label it. So, we've all been eating them for years and it's never been a problem. I actually took an class on insects in society last semester and for one of the labs we had to eat…

I know it seems like you don't have the time, but try to find a good gym close by. When I am on my campus, I usually go in the early morning. It means getting up a little earlier, but there is no better way to get energized for your day. You can even take some study reading for the treadmill or the stationary bike. I've…

Start slow after you've been sick. Try to drink a lot of water and fresh fruit juices, then move on to soup and fresh fruits and vegetables. Your body isn't used to all that food yet, and will need the nutrients to recover properly.
