  • Oh she glows is a great vegan website, blog, whatever. I also like Poor Girl Eats Well, though it's not always vegetarian.
  • I'm a vegan already, I feel like it does give me more energy! For protein (which is what everyone worries about), I add vegan protein powder to my almost daily smoothie. I eat organic pb, hazelnuts and almonds in moderation and, for a treat, a Luna protein bar almost daily. Good luck!
  • I eat the same thing for breakfast and a.m. snack just about every day. I don't input my lunch until I eat it, but I do make sure it's around 400 calories. I usually only have 400-500 left for dinner unless I workout (or at least walk the dog!), but that's just life. Let's face it, to lose weight while still having a…
  • I add Vega vegan protein powder to a smoothie almost every day.
  • I agree with the above recommendations about lemon/lime juice and zest and spices. I would add to try Bragg's amino acids (I mentioned this in another post, I don't get a commission, I swear! ;)
  • One of my favorite sites (not all vegan or even vegetarian) is Poor Girl Eats Well. Check it out and good luck to you.
  • I agree, slice the tofu thin and pan fry it with a bit of oil and whatever seasonings you like, basil, garlic, etc.
  • Try sprinkling Bragg's amino acids on your food. No sodium, but it tastes salty, kind of like soy sauce, and it's good for you! Remember to do it before eating, the flavor gets lost if it's cooked.
  • Hi, Cherry. What I'm having success with so far is making sure that I have at least the minimum amount of healthy foods around, and make them easy to pack for your shifts. For me that's carrots (real ones, baby carrots have no flavor), hummus (check the labels, you may be surprised at the calorie differences among flavors…

  • I stumbled across this website and it is amazing what this woman comes up with. I live far from California, so I don't have the same year-round produce available, but it's still pretty awesome: http://www.poorgirleatswell.com/
  • We have 3 great bakeries in my neighborhood - I just have to stop going to them! Today I bought enough oatmeal, nut bars, low-cal soup and fruit to last me through the week. I'm a teacher and we always have bake sales during conferences - so I've just got to stay out of that area of the school this Thu. and next Mon.!…
  • 10 pounds in 6 weeks is pretty fast! Maybe set up two goals - 1 for working out or eating at least 5 fruits/vegs a day and the other weight loss. That way your goals help each other out and you can be pretty sure of hitting one by Christmas.
  • I love getting a big salad from Whole Foods - they have so many options that it's a treat. I love the carrot-ginger soup, too!
  • I like the 'bar code less' definition! However, we've got some dangerously excellent bakeries near my house, so I have to avoid those too! Here's a link to an article on which foods are most important to buy organic, you're right, it can be hard to afford as much organic produce as we'd like. I try to shop more frequently…
  • Sounds like a great idea! 1. My goal is 5-7 lbs. weight loss. 2. Exercise at least 4X a week. 3. Log in to MFP every day!
  • The d**#n Halloween candy! My husband has had it in the house for weeks and I resisted, until today! I had such a great weekend of yoga and was able to run 5 miles (I'm recovering from a foot injury, so that's a long run for me.) I'm re-joining myfitnesspal and adding a couple of groups - I need the support (and…
  • Do you think it's the cheese you're craving or the crunch? If you can put your finger on that, it may help you find a substitute - maybe celery if it's the crunch, or sprinkle a little nutritional yeast on something if it's the cheeziness you crave. Good luck - I have a hard-time sticking to low-carb when I'm running, it…
