The women are finishing Ironman Hawaii I think. Just amazing!

Hardcore!

He/she/they is/are wrong. Obviously he/she isn't my running partner. People with pieces of paper on the wall are not necessarily correct. Are you still listening to the FDA for your food intake? Or buying ab machines from fitness experts on TV? Wearing nice spongy shoes? Doctors and "fitness experts" have been saying…

We evolved with the sun. A bit of sun is good. Lack of sun is bad. Winter is a time where as a primal being we would go and sleep in a cave and save our energy for the little daylight available to hunt. So naturally we don't take well to 16 hour days in December and January. Use your own discretion balanced with logic and…

*sigh* Another myth. Where I live we run in -40C and our lungs are just fine, and so do millions north of 50 all over the world. There's a 100 mile ultramarathon in Antarctica and nobody's "lungs freeze". OP: If you aren't motivated to get outside during the Winter and have no inside gear, then it's going to be bodyweight…

Haha, agreed.

10,000 IU of Vit D/day during the Winter and hit a tanning booth every week or so for 5-10 minutes. Works wonders. Good luck and happy training! E.

Look into barefoot running and barefoot style running. IE: naked feet or minimalist shoes. Essentially cushioned shoes are responsible for all your impact. Running is not high impact if done properly, and it's almost impossible in cushioned shoes. Lots of good info out there. Good luck! E

Always skip breakfast. Best thing you could do. Ahhh, choices. Gotta love it.
-
Apples and Oranges, as stated above. Not a literal translation, but think about doing a squat with a weighted barbell on your shoulders vs on a Smith machine. Don't give up, because in reality you don't run any distance at all on a treadmill. So today was your longest run ever! ;) Get your cadence up around 160-180 and go…

I'm 48. Low is 42ish, high is 210. Interval training is the thing that will improve your speed. Once a week session working up to 3 sessions/week will make you so fast you wont believe it. But watch the ligaments and give them time to adapt. IE: http://fasttraxnordicteam.blogspot.com/2011/12/sinister-7-cdr-training.html

Wrong. Just rehashing common beliefs is not helpful. Every obese person I know eats 5-6 meals a day, eats fat-free foods, drinks diet coke, and drinks gallons of water, and never loses weight. You've probably lost weight BECAUSE of skipping breakfast despite eating badly. Research it, look at real research and actual…

I don't wear shoes unless it's Winter, then I wear VVF's. They're black and we know black goes with EVERYTHING.

Haha best post! You'll burn lots of calories later; in the gym at the jail!
-
^that^ I hardly drink water at all.

The way I see it, you have worked on this to some degree for a little while and seen some results. That's better than what was happening before I'll guess. 1: So you have 2 choices: stick with SOMETHING and get SOME results (which actually are fine BTW). 2: Stop following SOMETHING and go back to winging it, resulting in…

Sure, all good except the oatmeal in any state! If I ate breakfast. 8^p

You can run. I see some people your size out there on the trails a lot and doing half marathons. I am always in awe and you have my utmost respect! Look into a walk/run/escalating program that gets you up to 5 or 10k over time. Cheers and have fun.
-
Skip breakfast. Seriously.
-
Fair enough. Seems incredibly high for someone wanting to lose weight, unless burning 1700+ cal/day. Cheers and stay on track :) E.

An oasis of well thought-out fact in a desert of hearsay!
-
What? I have to run 20km to be able to eat that much! Something's not right here. Crunch the numbers.
-
You are doing all the right stuff and will probably beat those numbers in the first post :) Dont be scared to go out and actually run 21 km at some point before the race. Good peace of mind, and if you like running; fun. How will you fuel during the race, and are you training for fueling ie: practicing what you will use…

Exactly. OP might consider looking inside and finding out why he wants to change his body. We all should.

^this^ And stop watching infommercials!

Hafiz is my fave poet! Someday all people will understand what he was saying. Then we can all go to Shiraz if we like :) And that was not Bahasa Indonesia (which is malay BTW).

Dopamine is what we love! Even more so in winter. Cheers, Erik

^yeah that^

Wrong. You like reading? Find out where your diaphragm ties in compared to almost every other animal on the planet and what that does to your breathing cycle. Find out if your cat or dog can take 4 steps breathing in and 4 steps breathing out, for hours. Find out where their diphragm ties in. Find out how your head stays…

If taken literally, it's a true statement. People tell me I'm thin because I run so much (and lift too). I remind them that if/when they start exercising, which is usually motivated by a desire to not be fat, they will get hungry and eat more. So how are you going to eat? If you don't watch the intake, you will not lose…
