in terms of actual benefit, i think that this question might be best answered by a trainer (i'm guessing there are a few out there/here). my 2-cents on the matter is, whatever it takes for you to get your workout in is better than not doing it at all: 1) chances are you are probably busy, do you have a big block of time…

i am with you on the whole feeling deflated thing. you and the other posters here are correct, there are a lot of differences in people's bodies: we carry weight differently, some of us look healthy at a weight that makes another person look heavy and another person look sickly, some people can eat anything & be fine,…

i have seen a few things where the "experts" say that you are supposed to take your goal weight and multiple it by 10 to get your calorie goal. for me that meant increasing from 1200 to 1500 (which i have transitioned into over a couple of weeks). i've been more focused on measurements than weight, but i can attest to the…

approximately day 20... tummy flatness is coming along nicely, now if only the sides & hips would follow suit...

i am diligently exercising: jillian michaels 30ds and running (10k this weekend). i also try to do my best to stay under my calorie allowance and log everything i put in my mouth here so that i keep myself honest (and don't fool myself into thinking that i can have whatever it is that i want to have). i know that their…

i think i like the walking push-ups in level 2 than the walking push-ups in level 3.... the plank raises are cool, too although i must admit, i'm a little concerned about bruising my hips with the jumping jacks with weights :noway:

if you have an rei nearby, they have an excellent selection of nutrition stuff in easy to consume packages. i actually found little pb&j packets there once, which was quite awesome IMHO. most running/fitness stores are going to have something for you to choose from. as the others have posted, buy a few and try them before…

i have done 5 half-marathons so far & i hydrate during my runs on anything longer than about 3 miles. i have never had any issues with cramping, maybe it's because i run so slowly! i use a run belt with 2-4oz bottles attached. i take small sips on my water about every mile or so with a little more taken to help wash down…

2 days late, but i'm at day 6 of level 2.... so i'll do doubles on monday and tuesday to get back to the group schedule. actually looking forward to level 3, i think that was my favorite one of the whole series last time. :)

i messed up on my workouts this week (hence the lack of check-ins) ... my plan was to do double workouts over the weekend to make up for it, but unfortunately yesterday i had to go and break the water main coming into the house and so that sort of delayed my workout :p ... (so i'm a little on the clumsy side - and yes, i…

my 2-cents on the subject would be this: during your journey to the point where you are now, have you created for yourself a healthy lifestyle that has taught you how to eat "correctly" and includes a certain amount of physical activity? if the answer to that question is yes, then you are probably on the right track - you…

this is round 2 of the shred for me ... no significant weight loss to report HOWEVER i did loose about 7 1/2 inches in total. if you haven't already, i highly recommend taking measurements bc that is where you will see the biggest results (or at least it was for me). i am also running in conjunction with the…

ok, so L2D3 done ... really should have done a double workout today since i indulged in the fun of pi/pie day. whatever, i'm not going to beat myself up about it - especially since i've got a 26 min. interval run and 45 min. long run (with pace increase at the end) scheduled for saturday & sunday and next weekend is the…

whoopsie! slipped behind by a day since last night's dinner was a little too late and a little too heavy :( i'll make it with a double workout this weekend :)

ok, one more thing on the bra subject... i was looking through ideeli bc i just signed up and they had some fitness stuff listed. in the sports bra photos the same model was used for several pics, in most she was your typical looking victoria's secret type model with maybe b-ish size breasts. then in another her clevage…

on thing i remember from either pilates or yoga (one of those exercise forms that are commonly done barefoot anyway) is that when you go into a lunge, like warrior pose, that you want to have you knee in alignment with your middle toe (but never going past the toes as cindy pointed out). i did most of level 1 barefoot this…

i find that the exercises that use a lateral raise (straight out in front) are harder for me than any of the other arm exercises. on the pushups, i do about half "advanced' and about half on my knees (through both sets). i push myself to take it as far as i can, but also wimp out a bit because i know that there is more…

our bathroom is teeny-tiny so we keep our scale in the cupboard under the sink (the only other option is to tuck it between the sink & the toilet) ... at any rate, there is something to that old adage "out of sight, out of mind." i have to make an effort to get to the scale, so that combined with my dislike of its results…

Done with day 1 of level 2. I'm a bit more hopeful for my stamina on it this time around, last time the jolting nature of the cardio segments caused my asthma to flair. Tonight I felt stronger. Shredheads! I love it!
-
congrats cindy! i can see a difference! have you checked your measurements? i bet the difference will present itself quite clearly there! :drinker: (cheers!)
-
ok, so massive difference between my start pic and today's ... and the reason? today's pic was taken on a mostly empty tummy, post workout... the previous pic was taken after dinner

Double workout (went to the movies with the hubby last night) so days 9&10 done. Measurements & 10 day progress photos taken, to be posted a little later (easier to do from the laptop than the phone) <rant> I hate being a girl! My measurements are up from where I started, but only in the bloat friendly areas. So, yes sure,…

missing a day is so easy to do, the important thing is to pick your weights back up and get back on track. i ended up falling behind on the february shread as well, and like bianca, i saw results anyway. i missed one day this week, so i did a double last night. in terms of doing doubles, you definitely have to…

done with days 7 & 8 (skipped last night in hopes of getting a good night sleep) ... probably should have at least done a pm yoga workout, that probably would have helped. :grumble:
-
you might also try and pay super close attention to your form as you are bending ... i have also noticed a slight twinge in my left knee, but it only happens when i don't keep a 90 angle between my shin & my ankle (when i'm leaning slightly forward on the bend) so i go really slowly on the lunge squat thingies on the left…

way to go!! :)

done with day 6... to those on the verge of colds, yogi tea makes one called "detox" and of course there is always the go-to echaneacha (sp) - goldenseal combo. i keep both in my desk at work since plenty of people seem to find it necessary to "share" ... i also have a "secret weapon" that has kept me from getting sick for…
-
day 5 done ... kicked myself in the *kitten* quiet literally with double intention: a) i want to look like natalie when this month is over, and b) i made some bad food choices today (i think i munched my entire calorie allowance in almonds) so i needed to make up for that (should have done a double workout, but it's been a…

i have come to the point where i hate stepping on the scale bc the damn thing has me back up to my starting weight (grr) ... on the flipside there are the measurements i have taken of myself after each 10 day circuit of the 30ds (and the fit of my jeans, fresh out of the dryer). at this point (25 days into my first round),…

glad to see that everyone is doing their best to stay on track! the reality is that we all have to take breaks sometimes because life has a tendency to get in the way. i admire the folks who get up extra early to squeeze their workouts in, but i can honestly say i'll never be one of them! in our previous 30DS group, as far…
