I agree with MacMadame. Also, there are chewables, even for adults but you MAY have to ask your pharmacist if they stock them. That's probably where I would start...the pharmacist may know of something that could help you. I bet there is SOMETHING because a lot of diabetics cannot use the sugary syrups, too.

I make SF jello pudding with unsweetened vanilla almond milk (less than the recipe calls for....1.5 cups instead of 2) and 1/4 or 1/2 serving of whey protein powder (mine is birthday cake flavored). The whole THING has 200 calories and up to 14g of protein. Not super high protein, but higher than if made WITHOUT the…

Technically, yes.....but our bodies are so complex and rules like "calories in/calories out" simply do not always work.
-
I suspect it is the same 'ole answer....you are not eating enough; increase your baseline calories or eat back all/some of your exercise calories, etc., etc.

Wise words spoken here! And to the lady who said weight loss without surgery is the BEST way...well, of COURSE it is. However, less than 5% of those who lose weight with conventional methods keep it off. And no one makes weight loss surgery their FIRST attempt to drop pounds....most of us have dieted our way to morbid or…

I was wondering how you did, Toothfairy! Glad to hear you are all done and recovering well.

Angelintx....I have found participation in online and real life support groups the number one thing that keeps me on track. When I stray I tend to "forget" that I had WLS and eat accordingly. That's one reason I started tracking my intake online again and participate in a few different WLS boards. Welcome back!

That's what I do! I have made peace with the fact that I simply AM NOT going to "diet" on the weekends. I don't, as a general rule, go CRAZY....but I enjoy dinners out, homemade bread, the occasional beer, and (this weekend) black jelly beans and then Monday morning it's back to business as usual.

I can't be bothered with a mix; and to me, they are all so gritty. So I use EAS AdvantEDGE Carb Control in Chocolate Fudge. I get them at Sam's Club in a box of 18 (??) for something like $28, so about $1.50 a piece. I drink one a day (sometimes two ), almost always for breakfast since I am NOT a big morning eater but I…

I do this every weekend....and it ain't my birthday! I've been consistently losing weight.

"I have been on the WLS boards for four years now and in that time I see that people who quickly up their calories and worry about not eating "enough" are much more likely never to get to goal or to struggle with regain. My personal experience is that by getting down very low and exercising quite a bit, so that I got to…

I don't think your calorie goal is too high. I have a theory that we TRAIN our bodies into living on a certain number of calories (within reason, of course). I believe the SOONER you get your calorie level up to a "normal" level, the more food you will be able to eat every day for the long term when maintaining your…

I have changed my macro settings so that I get 25% of my calories from protein (for my calorie allotment, that's about 90-95g/day), 30% from fat and 45% from carbohydrates. I try to eat only whole grains, fruits and veggies for my carbs and to stay away from anything white: bread, rice, pasta. Feel free to add me as a…

MacMadame....I love this! I always say "I hate exercise"; but what I really mean is I HATE working out....but I love hiking and dancing around my living room and SCUBA diving. So I am going to try to remind myself that my "work out" does not have to be 30 minutes on the treadmill but can also be listening to the 80's music…

Starting weight: 172 Current weight: 162 Goal weight: 150 Calorie intake: 1500 calories Here is a typical day: Meal one (upon waking): EAS AdvantEDGE Carb Control in Chocolate mixed with a cup of coffee PLUS two cups of coffee with FF half and half. just because the fitbit adds the calories to your daily total that doesn't mean you have to eat them. I don't have a fitbit (thinking of asking for it for mothers day) but when I add my exercises here I feel like the calories burned are WAY exagerated....so, I just don't eat them all. It's working for me.....

One binge will not impede your weight loss; however, I suggest you look at what CAUSED the binge. Personally, I think it may be cause by eating too little. Twelve hundred calories PLUS exercising is likely not enough fuel for your day; it might (MIGHT) be for a day with no exercise.

I also don't like to eat in the morning AND I have a vegetarian daughter (14); here are a few things I do to make things work in our family: *everyone eats the same basic meal: at each dinner (we're all on our own for breakfast and lunch if it's during the week) I serve a whole grain side dish/starch (rice, couscous,…

*Cereal: whole grain oatmeal, kashi go lean *Peanut butter and almond butter *Popcorn *Beans of every variety (garbanzo, black, kidney, pinto, white, lentil, split pea), both dried and instant; sometimes I just don't have the time to soak and cook dried beans and find if I rinse the canned ones the salty taste is not…

Weigh in day is tomorrow; I hope I have a loss to add to my total since January 20. I am trying to lose a little regain I had (20 pounds) between summer vacation and the holidays 2011. My goal for March is going to be to exercise a minimum of three days each week. I would like to be back to my "fighting weight" by Mother's…

I agree. I "ate my freaking face off" in Cozumel last June and that led to a 6 month food orgy that found me, at the end, 20 pounds heavier. Before that, I had been maintaining a 100+ pound weight loss for 10 years! My USUAL M.O. on vacation is to eat pretty much on plan for breakfast and lunch, then allow myself some…

Well, I've been at this almost eleven years and yep, I've had a few regains.....THREE to be exact. They have primarily been associated with stressful periods in my life (death of my Mother, a cross country move); during those times, I tried to forget I had WLS, tried to act like a "normal person", and stopped visiting my…

I agree...ignore those who would tell your the horror stories, the failures, and try to convince you that somehow you are less of a person for taking the "easy" way out. Focus on the prize, which is a healthier future and longer lifespan. Good luck.

Add some caraway seeds and a bay leaf; a little tomato (1/2 a can of diced or a large handful of grape, cut in half); a couple of baby carrots cut in half; use only half the turkey kielbasa (or none if you have a vegetarian in the family); change the chicken stock to veggie stock (again, because of the veggie girl)....and…

My philosophy: if I am hungry I will eat back all or some of my exercise calories; if I am not then I don't. I also don't believe you have to be always hungry to lose weight. I actually am RARELY hungry (physically) although I often have an appetite (or desire) to eat.
-
I find that sometimes I require food every 3 hours; others, I can go all day and not really feel hungry. I believe to have the healthiest relationship with food it is best for me to follow my hunger signals. That doesn't mean I have to over indulge or eat crap; but it does mean that when I get the symptoms of hunger (and…

It is a fad. A banana is not any worse for you than an apple, a guava, a mango.

I love dry Kashi cereal with a handful of almonds and a teeny/tiny pack of raisins. It satisfies my desire to crunch with healthy carbs. I also sometimes make myself some protein powder enhanced SF pudding if I am having a chocolate craving. I am going to try making it with almond milk tonight...wish me luck!!

Thank you! I  you too!

This is exactly what I do too. 45% carbs, 25% protein, 30% fat is what I aim for, although I have to be honest and say that I really just focus on getting as close to 100g pro/day as I can. I feel better physically and avoid cravings when I do this.
