Hibbett sporting goods. They were on clearance. Surprisingly, no one wanted to buy them at their regular price of $160. :o)

Ewwwww! Ick!

My feet are way too tender to run with no shoes. I'll stick to minimus. So far the New Balance shoes are working very well. I ran 5 miles yesterday and it was the first time running in them. I am sore in the lower calf area but it's not too bad. I will take today off from running though.

I really meant to take it easy for my first run in these new shoes (NB Minimus) but by the 2nd mile I still felt great, so I finished my scheduled 5 miles! And only just a little tightness in the last mile. I did a lot of preparation to condition my feet for minimus shoes. That probably helped. BTW....Feel free…

My old shoes are Saucony grid profile. Which is not a heavy shoe and I was able to concentrate on running with a mid to ball foot strike. We'll see what happens when I go out this morning with my new NB Minimus.

I just bought (I couldn't refuse the awesome price) a pair of NB Minimus for 64 dollars. So we will see tomorrow how they feel. I'll report back in after my run. Happy running!

Is anybody else having a problem with VFF shoes on the longer distances?

Good info. Thanks!

I am interested in it because I'm tired of shin splints and achy knees and I want to run all the way into my old age and beyond. A really thorough explanation can be found in the book Born to Run. Awesome book! But basically a lot of people run with a heel strike which is BAD on the joints and body in general. Also shoes…

Bump! I need more comments please!

So 2 votes for Vibrams and 2 votes for Merrils. The past 2 days I've been very consciously running on the balls of my feet for 2.25 miles. This route has lots of hills. I read that you naturally run correctly going up hill. I have to say it's a bit awkward learning this method of running but if it's not awkward at first…

I would run outside. It's more fun and actually easier. Tell yourself you are going to run 3.1 miles today with no stopping,at an easy pace. Don't go hard and try to enjoy your run. 90% of peoples troubles come with dreading their runs. You can do this. You are allready doing very well on the treadmill. It's time to go…

Awesome! It looks like half of you is gone! Great job!

American Heart association says it's 35 inches,National Heart lung and blood institute says it's 35, Webmd says it's 35 (http://www.webmd.com/diet/calculating-your-waist-circumference__) , here is another one that says it's 35 (http://win.niddk.nih.gov/publications/tools.htm) Countless doctors and trainers say it's 35.

When is the last time you had a check up? Strap on a heart monitor and see how high your heart rate go up. Mine get up to 150 to 160 during a run. And try eating more protein.
-
You are going to do really well in this race! Good luck! People do tend to do better in races than in practice. So I would think you will be just fine. Just don't start out too fast in the beginning. I've done a half a few years ago and am getting ready to run another one in January.
-
That is phenomenal! You are going to be soooo much healthier because of it as well!
-
Nope. Why waste your time on something so petty when there are more important things to worry about.
-
Yay!.... You've come a long way and now you are running a 13.1 miles!!!!! Awesome!!!
-
How fabulous do you look!!!!!!! WOW!
-
Oh you poor thing! :noway: Make sure you log all the cardio you got while running and screaming. I'm sure your heart rate was up quite a bit too.

Well, I think this is simply BS. "And that's all I have to say about that."

I agree, she knows. Keep loving her and supporting her and DON'T be a nag. Maybe though, maybe, find a way very gently to say you have noticed. Get her to log her food on here if she hasn't started yet. Ask her to go on after dinner walks with you.

Goodness! You are lookin good! And you have regained your youth! BTW, Nice fish in the before picture.
