Don't run at night. You'll be safer running in the day. Who cares what you look like when you're running?? You're up and moving and that's more than most people. I started running in 2010 and in less than 3 weeks will be running my 2nd ultramarathon (anything over a marathon distance)-in this case, a 50 miler. I remember…

Wow!! What else can I say! Wonderful for you and also the inspiration you are to so many others!! Kudos!!

I first started runniing in Feb 2010 and struggled to make it to the end of the block initially (I have never run on a treadmill and live in rainy W WA). I managed to make it up to about a mile of running (slowly) by myself. I then ran with my sister (who had run a half marathon by that point). When I got to the point…

Pretty much agree with this post. I buy local as much as I can and even if the local stuff isn't certified "organic", a lot of times, it is organic. I know my farmers and have visited their farms. I also try to buy the dirty dozen organic whenever I can. We also buy organic milk (our kids eat a lot of cereal for breakfast).

homeade hummus with garbanzo beans is always great to have in the fridge to eat with rice crackers or raw veggies (or on bread for a sandwich). I also use white beans to make dip. White beans (great northern or any other) are good in a brothy soup with some chicken sausage and greens (kale) and maybe some leftover cooked…

39 (and almost a half) here! Love MFP and try to let people know about it. Maybe folks in their '30s are really so busy and not slowing down to take care of themselves?? Except for all of us of course!! :)

Rwanda. Below average fat for the US (lower BMI than 86% of females in my age group) and below average globally (lower BMI than 60% of females in my age group). Interesting!!

**Meant to attach this to my post above**"Actually started running in February of 2010! Oops!"

Started running in February of 2009 (couldn't make it to the end of the block without stopping to walk) and finished my first marathon yesterday!! I have run 5 or so half marathons and was ready to take the next step. I have 2 kids ages 3.5 and 9 and my hubby really stepped up his game to allow me time to train properly.…

mango cream bars from Trader Joe's (like a half size mango creamsicle) and they're only 70 calories (if I recall correctly). YUM!!

I've told a lot of people about it (and was referred by a friend who no longer has an active account). No one I've told has tried it. I think it's like anything, if you're ready, you're ready and you will take the initiative. I keep in mind I should keep sharing the info about MFP so that if the light bulb goes on for…

Just watched a great movie/documentary with Michael Pollan called "The Botany of Desire" (I don't think I should've underlined that title??). Anyways, amazing movie that really got me thinking!!

I weigh in every Saturday morning w/o fail. I know there may be slight fluctuations during the month but being very regimented about my food diary and weigh in keeps me on track!!

Take 2 cloves (on the smaller side) of garlic and mince them up in a food processor. Add a large tub of nonfat cottage cheese, some salt and some pepper and blend until smooth. Guilt-free garlic dip for veggies or baked potato chips. It is delicious (and you can make it as garlicky as you want)!!
