• I have reoccurring bursitis in my hip too (also walking was always when it hurt the most - horse riding, biking, swimming never a problem!). Good sports physio really helps. And I second the ibuprofen - not just a painkiller but my Dr said it would work just as well as prescription anti-inflammatory. Good luck x
• I agree with you that the value of background calories can be insignificant. On your spreadsheet you show that you burn 2.2 calories per minute; when multiplied over the weeks worth of exercise time shown it would equal 649 calories that would have been burned by you during that time had you not been…
• I don't know if there is an error with MFPs calories. I totally agree with the 'nothing is 100% accurate' post. I use an HRM, and always deduct my background calories (i.e. those calories I would have burned had I not been excercising). Background calories are calculated by dividing your BMR by 24 hours and then 60…
• Although I'm not at goal or maintaining, I have been in the past, and failed miserably at it (and so I'm back on this waggon). Personally I think I need reprogramming in relation to my thinking about food, and am considering some CBT or counselling or maybe even hypnotherapy?? Anything that would work!
• Hi, has the magnesium helped with your cramp?
• Ask about the PCOS diet - apparently there's one out there, a beauty therapist friend of mine told me about it. Might be utter rubbish, might be worth a try.
• Horses commonly get a form of diabeties from eating too rich grass, its called laminitis - very painful, and can kill them.
• I always balance my calories over the week (any more than a week is too confusing for me!), so yesterday I netted just over 1000cals (shock horror) with the determined plan to eat pancakes at every meal today (breakfast = check!). Will prob net around 3000 cals today, with the rest of the week to work any excess off. This…
• I own two horses (no cows though), and have eaten horse, and lots of much cuter animals. I too find it slightly weird how the western world has distanced animals and meat, and find it slightly hypocritical for those who eat and enjoy meat can't even consider it being from an animal, let alone kill it themselves. I've shot…
• Get one! Apart from the benefits mentioned above (more accurate calorie burn numbers) I find mine really motivational. When I'm feeling a bit tired on a run I look at it and it says '247 cals burned' or whatever, I think 'gotta make it to 300'. I like round numbers! It also gives me an idea of when I've done a lazy first…
• I was same weight and height as you (a little younger, though - 29) in Jan this year, and have lost 60lbs so far following the MFP plan. I've done my research, and feel pretty well informed - I like to know my TDEE so that if i want to have a weeks break, I can retain some control and at least, hopefully, not put on…
• 60lbs since the end of Jan 2012... another 20 odd lbs to go... so should be at goal/maintenance by March 2013
• I want to go to this too... but am also scared If you live near me Olly, I'll go if you go!
• Being a MFP user from the UK I've always found the 'cups' measurement methodology rather odd; measuring by volume right? As we work in metric over here I weigh everything to the nearest gram, but I’m sure oz works just as well...
