It's called vanity sizing. Today's ten(for example) is much larger than the ten of fifty years ago. On top of that, you have to deal with all the different cuts and brands, each of which have a different standard for a size ten. I can fit into a size X of one brand, but have to go up to a size Y in another.

You can lose weight eating anything, really, just make sure you track your calories. Also: A box of rice, some veggies, and a bag of frozen chicken is cheap ;)

Almonds! I hear people say celery and carrots all the time, but I hate both of those. So for me it's things like almonds or apple slices. There are also some chips you can get, just measure out what to eat before you start to avoid eating the whole bag and note the sodium.

Monday I started it again. I started it earlier this year and got to day seven of level one, I think it was, before some serious life changes hit and I stopped. Just in those few days, though, I went from only being able to do maybe half of it to being able to more or less fully keep up, even doing actual (from the knee)…

Don't know if any of you will remember me, I posted quite a bit at the beginning of the year. I had a bit of a breakdown towards the end of the semester and ended up changing majors and moving back home for the summer, meaning not much weight loss happened. I somehow managed to not gain anything back over the course of the…

I'm set to lose one pound a week which puts me at 2060 calories a day. I started at two a week but moving in with my parents and eating their food made my 1500/day impossible. However, I tend to naturally cycle and can be from anywhere between 1200-2500 depending on the day, though it really averages out to about 2000 a…

I tend to use premade sauces and things and just make sure it adds up. If you make it yourself, though, you need to put in the ingredients individually to get an accurate count.

I wish I could upvote you. Too bad the majority of people won't read this post or take it into consideration >.>

Thinking it through logically: When you're closer to your goal weight you'll naturally lose less. The closer you are to your goal weight the lower your required calories are and the less room you have for deficit. The closer you are to your goal weight the closer you are to moving into maintenance. It just makes sense to…

I'm not saying they're a fad per se, I'm saying that these forums tend to go through phases of being overly interested in certain things to the point of using scare tactics. When I first joined it was whole wheat, now it's moved onto BMR.

First off: I more or less ignore all the extra numbers everyone throws around. It seems to be the latest obsession and it'll probably move on to something else in another week or two. Second: As long as you're hitting 1200 net calories I'd say you're good. Third: When I notice I'm consistently coming in under on calories,…

Don't beat yourself up over it and pick back up tomorrow.

Ignore those people that try to tell you when to eat. Some people work well on eating six times a day, some people are fine eating twice (like me). If you don't want to eat breakfast, don't eat it.
-
Good luck, I only eat twice a day and so my breakfasts tend to be fairly high calorie. The individual things aren't, though. Typically I have eggs, some sausage, and one other thing that's a little sweet. Sometimes it's a bagel with cream cheese, recently it's a frozen breakfast pastry thing.

I think you should read more carefully. Most of us, I believe, are saying to eat things you enjoy eating rather than punishing yourself with things you dislike. You don't have to eat things you hate to lose weight.
-
I've lost 23 pounds eating things I love. I simply eat them in moderation now instead of eating half a pizza at a time. There's no reason to torture yourself. Right now? A huge chili bread bowl that fits neatly into my calories for the day. I'm very rarely hungry.

I certainly hope so. This past weekend was the first time any of my family had seen me since I started losing and it was a nice little boost. I certainly look forward to Thanksgiving now (which will be the next time I see my extended family), because by that time I hope to be under 200lbs for the first time since probably…

What do you have your weekly loss set to? As you lose you should lower it as you slow down closer to your goal. That would give you some more calories to work with.
-
I simply go by what mfp has me set for, which is a little over 1500/day for a two pound loss a week. Personally, trying to juggle all the extra numbers makes it too complicated.
-
From what I've heard the protein default on here is really low and it's definitely not bad to go over.
-
I don't lose every single week, but I get about a 9 pound loss in a month, which is a little over 2 a week on average. I typically have a week or two where I won't lose, or I'll gain, then I'll lose everything quickly. Finding out how your body loses weight takes out so much of the scale stress >.<

I love Aldi. I never even buy their bags, I just grab a box or two on my way through to put all my things in. They have a couple fewer boxes to deal with and I get a free grocery carrier thing. Great for a college budget. Too bad the closest one to me is an hour away. Whenever I go home, though, I go to the local one and…

Go to Goals and do custom and you can change how much protein in relation to the others you get per day.

This. When people read "link" they automatically replace it with "cause" whether it was meant or not.
-
Correlation does not equal causation. There is likely another variable causing that depression, not just fast food. I can say that the more quarters I collect the better my grades are, but that doesn't mean that the extra quarters made my grades better. Any of this could be the link to depression. When there are five…

I'd wager a guess that you're overestimating. Either way, if you aren't making your net calories you need to exercise less or eat more.
-
Really depends on the vodka and whether it's a one ounce shot or a 1.5 ounce shot.
-
OMG What the heck are you doing to burn 2k calories a day?
-
Instead of upping your food quantity, add in some calorie rich foods. Add in some extra olive oil or eat some nuts. Find little things that are a lot of calories per bite (and still healthy, mind you) and you can easily bump up your calories without eating five extra bowls of veggies.

I absolutely love those Planters Nut-rition individual packs. They're calorie dense (it's got like 15 pieces in it for 200 calories), which is good for me because I tend to go under on calories, and low on salt (40mg for the pack I buy!), which is good because I tend to be over on sodium. Something small and filling and…
