Hello, Everyone. Thanks for the well wishes. I'm up to 45 miles, but still won't make it to 60 by tomorrow. On the plus side, I know I've been eating healthier, and being sick over the Thanksgiving weekend meant no overeating/overindulging on leftovers. December is a new chance and a great way to stay…

Hello, Fellow Walkers. I must confess that November has not been my strongest month. I have made my goal every month for the past year, but this month has gotten away from me. In addition to the two resort conferences earlier in the month, the past two weeks brought more challenges. First, I had an eye infection and then…

I'm going to log my calories, and plan to stay in range. I am bringing sides to a family dinner - squash and sweet potato casserole. The squash I am doing because I bought fresh squash and do not cook it with butter -- just steam it to soften it, stir it up, and mix in a tablespoon of real maple sugar. It's amazingly…

The month is almost over and I’ve been MIA. It’s been hectic and crazy and the holidays aren’t even here yet. I had back-to-back conferences at two different resorts. Although the meetings were good, the decadent meals didn’t do me any good. I tried to eat healthy at the meals, and was pretty successful – avoiding salad…

Hello, Everyone. I took the liberty of setting up our November topic: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/381027-november-challenge-leslie-sansone-walk-team-swat I just finished a 3 mile workout with Leslie (Burn Body Fat & Sculpt Your Arms) and made my October goal with one day to spare. I'm also happy to say that the…

Another one pound gain. This is not a good. I've had gains the past two weeks. I know the first time was most likely due to my overindulgence of pastries at Wildflower Bread Co, but this past week I did not have any sweets. This included staying away from the dessert table at a work potluck last Wednesday (and it was…

Add me to the list who have discovered this awesome blender bottle. My tip is to shake with room temperature water, then add ice after shaking. I find that the powder mixes better than with cold water. Soccer Chick, I am going to try your tip of waiting and shaking again in 15 minutes before adding the ice.

When I got my first place, I went furniture shopping for a living room set. I went to a local store that had a good reputation and the salesman told me I would need something sturdy because of my weight (I weighed about 170 lbs at the time). I was mortified and left. Lucky for me I found a great couch, love seat, and…

Hello, Fellow Walkers. I missed a mid-week check in, but there wasn't good news to report. As suspected, my overindulgence resulted in a gain, 2.3 pounds --- YIKES! You would think that would motivate me to get walking, but I let other things, including a pity party, get in the way of walking on T, W, and Th. Thank…

Hello, Everyone. I hope you had a better weekend than I did. Although I had fun, I went crazy at Wildflower Bread Company yesterday. Yesterday was an Ornament Premiere event at Hallmark. My local Hallmark had goodies and I didn't resist (did have the fruit, but also had a cookie and some of the peppermint bark). That…

Mid-week check in... I have liked reading what workouts everyone is using (I used to just post my miles). I already posted for Sat and Sun, so for Monday, I used the 3 Mile Super Fat Burning (from the Walk Away the Pounds series) and on Tuesday, I used the Walk Strong (from the Weight Loss Series) -- that one doesn't note…

It also makes a pretty tasty substitute for ricotta cheese in lasagna or spaghetti. I have been eating bean sprouts in lieu of spaghetti noodles; I zap the sprouts (3/4 cup) in the microwave then add marinara sauce (1/2 cup) and give another zap then add cottage cheese (1/2 cup). Tasty, filling, and low cal.

Oops... I have to take back the comment about having my Food Diary come in under goal: I forgot to log an apple and an Orowheat sandwhich thin, so once again, I was over. I know I'm eating healthier, but I sure am finding it harder to stay within the 1220 calories allotted for a one pound per week weight loss. :grumble:…

Welcome back, Patti. Glad to see everyone has set a goal for October and working toward it. I went to the Cardinals game today (we lost! - as did the Diamondbacks; bad day for AZ sports teams) but decided to keep with my goals and did the 3 Fast Miles tape when I got home. I'm also happy to report that while my friends ate…

Congratulations! What a great feeling. Enjoy your new clothes (and body!).

Welcome to October! It's great to see returning friends and meeting new friends. I just finished the Five Mile Slim Down. Not only was it a good way to start the month, I overindulged last night with chips and cheesy refried beans at a Mexican food restaurant. It's amazing how many calories are in tortilla chips (the one…

Oatmeal with blueberries and a toasted Orowheat Sandwich Thin (no topping; I love the taste all by itself!).

Jenny, sorry to hear you're going through so much. Hang in there! We hope to see you soon. On a good note, I made my September goal tonight! I would say that I would up it for October, but the 60 per month seems to be working for me (although I often find myself using the five mile walks on the weekends to catch up!).…

Glad others mentioned Up because I'm right there with the tissues for that one (actually, pretty much any Disney Pixar movie).

Yes, we have seemed to slow down, with posts and members. Let's stay strong and support each other as we head into the holiday months (October, November, and December). I've read that from Halloween through the new year can be the biggest weight gain period. I used to log on mid-week and weekends, but lately have just been…

Thanks to everyone for having the courage to share your stories. At one time, I wouldn't have had that courage, but here I am after 15 months and over 100 pounds down no where near as embarrassed as I once was, so here goes... I've had a weight problem my whole life. I wore a pants uniform in grade school and because my…

I started my journey at 291 pounds, and over a year later, I'm down over 100 pounds. I've been learning to eat healthier, and I log EVERYTHING in my food diary. For my exercise, I used (and still use) the Walk Away the Pounds series by Leslie Sansone. I started with the one mile walk, which is about 20 minutes. Walking was…

Hello, Fellow Walkers. I'm envious of the fall weather Alice and Jenny have shared; it's still triple digits here in Phoenix (although the evenings are cooling down to the low 90s, so the end is in sight!). Kathy, good for you for trying the hip-hop dance for your exercise. I saw another ad for Zumba and wonder if I'll…

Hello, Fellow Walkers. I've had a pretty crazy week, and didn't get a walk in since last Tuesday until tonight (YIKES!). In addition to not using the power walking tapes, I have been eating over my calories (DOUBLE YIKES!). I was at a conference for three days this past week that was held at a five-star resort. The food…

Hello, Everyone. Glad to join in for September. Sandy, I couldn't believe when you said this was the one year anniversary of the group. Where did the time (and hopefully for all of us, the pounds!) go? Last September, I walked 23 miles. After the first of the year, I was setting my goal at 60 miles, going off of the two…

Wow, I think this is the first time I've reached my miles (or logged it on the thread) before the last day of the month (albeit with one day to spare!). So, I had three miles to go, but have a hair appointment after work tomorrow, so probably won't have a chance to walk. That gave me the motivation to finish those last…

A co-worker challenged me once to consider how many oranges would need to be juiced to actually get one glass, even an 8 oz glass, of juice. That was my eye-opener. I realized that, even though I thought I was being healthy, I was actually overeating/over-indulging in fruit, and although it is natural sugar, it is still…

Things in moderation is still a good adage to live by. If you must indulge, try for a healthier version of the food item. Remember, it's not just the number of calories, but the calorie make up. It may seem okay to have a bit of junk food if you keep the calories low, but consider the preservatives and such that will…

This is a GREAT recipe, and super easy to make. I came across it a few months ago and just made it on Saturday (photo below of my creation). My toppings were a red bell pepper and chicken breast. One tip I took from a fellow MFP pal was to use parchment paper. It makes such a difference for the "crust" to not stick to the…

Hello, Fellow Leslie Sansone Fans. I was browsing Amazon and noticed two new Leslie Sansone walks that are to be released October 4 (available for preorder): Leslie Sansone: 5 Really Big Miles YOU CAN WALK ANYWHERE from one to five miles and firm up your midsection with fitness expert Leslie Sansone's WALK SLIM 5 REALLY…
