  • That's rather discouraging for what was designed to be a positive atmosphere. And my intention was not a resolution, it was for the sake of my health.
  • I know, but I think my misunderstanding the term Vegan vs. Plant Based is what started the debate.
  • To be fair, I didn't say it to offend. I didn't know Vegans were so sensitive about the terminology. If saving animals is so important to Vegans, can't you simply respect the fact those of us going Plant Based are at least reducing our number of aminal products used.
  • I'm trying 30 days of Plant Based Dieting strictly out of curiosity. And while so far I totally appreciate the benefits I've experienced so early in to this quest, I do wonder if this is how we as humans are supposed to live to be healthy, why must Plant Based/Vegan diets be supplemented with B12? I genuinely want to know…
  • I'm in my second week. And I went from Low Carb/High Protein dieting. AND I'M LOVING IT. 2 things I think help - I cut out MEAT only the first week. Then DAIRY/bi-products the second. That way it didn't feel so traumatic. 2nd pointer, get a B12 supplement, take it daily. I learned the hard way {CRAZY MIGRAINE!}. I noticed…
  • I stand corrected, I'm happily plant-based dieting. And fully support the wearing of leather, use of honey, the eating of steak, etc.
  • I grew up on farm, fully believe in the rights of anyone to grow production animals - you don't have to have moral conviction. You CAN try going Vegan strictly based on wanting to lead a HEALTHY plant based lifestyle.
  • I'm just starting the plant based diet {week 1}. But would appreciate any any all motivation/pointers as well. I'm doing it for my health completely non-political.
  • Starting over... yet again... (Pretty sure that was the name of a self-help book in an episode of Sex in the City). I would love to lose a total of 80 lbs. But small goal starts with 20. I'm 5'9" with a gym membership! Look out treadmill  Feel free to add me!
  • I'll definitely give this a try! I've read that I shouldn't drink my calories. Does the fruit juice help prevent water retention.
  • I wasn't *****in' about it. I was asking for help so I don't just maintain but lose. But I appreciate your input.
  • I agree. I think the main issue would be proving to someone who didn't appreciate you for who you are, that you don't need someone else. You have to appreciate yourself. Losing weight, gaining confidence will make you more appealing to everyone!
  • Congrats! You're sticking to it!!! Sounds like you are living the Biggest Loser rather than just watching it! I'm hoping when I go to weight myself in on Monday that I don't lose my motivation. That I see a smaller number (any smaller number) when I look at the scale. But I've got to survive the weekend prior to that! I…
  • Lecture or not! I appreciate the words, they are sorely needed. About a year ago I spent a solid month working on me and lost 10 lbs. But it was just before Halloween (binge) then the Holidays (binge BINGE). I'm trying to slowly make changes. I'm a smoker. But I've cut back significantly. Hopefully I'll be able to quit…
  • Thank you KF4VKP. I will definately add you! I've been struggling with being obedient to MFP for over a year now. As of Monday 3/18/2013 I've taken a stricter approach to what I'm eating. And logging! I'd started prior to that but with various stresses in my life it was a binge weekend.
  • Incredible! You and I are about the same size. It's nice to finally meet someone I feel I can truly relate to. Please add me as a friend if you don't mind. I'd love to be able to chat! What workouts do you prefer?
  • This is excellent advice. But I would also add, you should surround yourself with supportive people, but having someone to get healthy with is a huge motivator.
  • It's not at home I have this problem. It's at work. We have a popcorn machine. Vending machines. Salty goodness stares me down on a daily basis. My will-power has been decent thus far. But it's that 4 weeks of having will-power before it becomes habit to avoid it, that concerns me.
  • Pinterest... lots of helpful stuff! http://www.prevention.com/weight-loss/weight-loss-tips/your-guide-calories-and-portion-sizes
  • bumblebums - thank you thank you thank you! you are a huge help :)
  • Thank you all for your input! ekaustin7 - I am loving chickpeas lately (I use it instead of chicken/tuna/mayo for a substitue for a chicken/tuna salad craving!) I will definately try that. bumblebums - that is an excellent point, thanks for the tips!
  • *drools* Bacon! YUM I like the light popcorn option! Thank you. Love cheese and nuts... but I have self control issues with both of those. I used to eat the 17 raw almonds for my mid-morning hunger pains. But they never really seemed filling. Perhaps I'll give it a go again! Thank you for the tips!
  • Excellent! I'm trying to grow my hair out. And my nails break quite a bit. But I was hoping the metabolism aspect may be true too.
  • I have the horrible woman's Kettlebell workout - a friend of mine is a personal trainer, she told me not to do her workout she uses bad form, I could injure myself.
  • I have an Iron deficiency that I was once convinced could be tackled by eating more. Usually toward the end of my work day I'd start getting faint and seriously weak to the point driving was unsafe. I have noticed since I have religiously logged MFP I haven't had an episode. But I am eating MUCH more veggies, taking a…
  • My boyfriend keeps telling me this - he's a Vet and was once an avid lifter much more keen on the ins and outs of exercise/nutrition but these things he's learned from experience benefit me little as a female at a desk job. I want to try to accomplish the habit of exercise/healthy diet/quit smoking at once because I don't…
  • I'm not looking for a rock hard body. I'd like to get down to a healthy weight for my height. I would prefer to stay on the curvy side of the fense but in a much healthier manner.
  • This is the plain and simple truth. I suppose I'm not looking deeply enough at what I'm really trying to accomplish.
  • I'm going to start the CouchTo5K tonight! :) After my Curves.
  • Oh no! I'm not starving myself!!! I mean MFP suggests a Net of 1900 I try to aim for 1400. But someone told me I should stick to the 1900 as my goal :)
