When you say weight training do you mean crunches and stuff? I should explain there is some fat still hanging around my stomach but it's just hanging a lot looser than it used to!

I really hope you're joking. Some people have to work hard to build muscle because they're not naturally muscular, and some people have to work hard to lose weight or not gain it because they're not naturally slim. Personally, it's a problem I've always had. As soon as I start doing lunges or squats I gain bulky-looking…

I lost five and half stone last year without cutting my carb intake :) I stuck to a nice 50/25/25 ratio (carb, protein, fats) but I was careful about what kinds of carbs and fats I ate. Low GI carbs (so oats, etc, though I did often cheat and eat toast :D), fruits and vegetables, and more natural mono/polysaturated fats…

Might I also add that if you want slimmer thighs, you need to be careful about what exercises you do because you can easily build bulk muscle on the thighs which can exacerbate the problem. Make sure you do plenty of stretching muscle exercises such as yoga and pilates (blogilates on youtube is good for it, and it's free)…

Lol I'm less worried now! I found out that I can get cheap access to council run fitness classes (I don't earn much so money is definitely a factor!!) so I went to an aerobics class and an aqua fit today on the basis that the receptionist assured me that many over-weight/ unfit people go to these classes so I gave it a go.…

Sorry sweetie but you have an eating disorder. I used to be like that in my early teens and I found sport to be the answer for me. I played rugby, did long distance running and used the trampoline classes available to build a very healthy body. I advice studying nutrition to an extent too. Find out exactly what your body…

I lost five and a half stone last year if that counts as significant lol My best tool was my phone, I kept an eye out for really good apps to keep me motivated in healthy eating and weight loss. Some of my favourites are Zombies! Run!, BeFoodSmart, Daily Cardio workout and (of course!) MyFitnessPal. I try to vary the…

I love this idea lol It's a shame she's a retired nurse so I probably wouldn't get away with it lol :D ha yeah, it's a quandary. I used to be really into sports at secondary school, but gained loads of weight at college (no sports) and was constantly reminded of that extra weight, now I want to lose weight I'm being…

Umm, the original poster who asked if it was 1 gram of protein per pound of weight?

um not really I'm afraid. Mam dishes up huge amounts of food and we're expected to eat everything on the plate or she thinks we don't like it and gets upset. Thankfully I've been asked to make the dinner tonight although she's a bit sceptical of how much food I've brought home for tonight but we'll see. My mam doesn't like…

That's wrong sweetie. It's 1 gram of protein per lb of lean muscle, so if you're 250lbs, but have say 100lb of lean muscle then you'll be wanting 100g of protein a day. Bearing in mind that's really only necessary if you're doing proper regular workouts. If you really want to get muscle built as well as losing weight, I…

Oh honey :( I'm sure that being a nurse you already know this but it doesn't hurt to keep repeating yourself. I know it's hard but what's really important to remember is that this isn't your fault. Exercise does not usually cause miscarriage in the first trimester so long as you're not over-doing it and since you're still…

ahh sweetie. I wore a bikini on my honeymoon last year and I weighed 95kg then (I'm 5ft 6). It felt pretty good. At the end of the day, if you're comfortable go for it, but make sure that if you're nervous about it then make sure you buy the right kind of bikini for your body shape (I had a tummy controlling bottom and a…

Well generally speaking you crave things because you need them. Women will crave things high in sugar and high in salt because of the extra work your body is doing and because of the blood loss from your period. Your body needs them to keep themselves in tip top order. Bearing in mind that the average women on a seven day…

Are you putting in every single item of food every time? If so you could save yourself some time by collecting items together and saving them as meals so that it's quicker and easier to log your food, or the phone app is handy as you can log food on your lunch break. Personally I think that if you're going to lose a lot of…
